Kaz turned to look at Vaughn, his scowl quickly turning to a smile at the sight of him. "Michael forced me to come. Said I had serious issues, even for us. Which is like, impossible, but it's whatever."

Lana noticed some girl sitting in the corner, her eyes…reddish. Were those…ah. She had to ask. She headed over, her eyes sparkling. "Are you wearing colored contacts?" she asked.
Thorn looked at the girl who had approached her. She spoke, "Uh no. These are my natural eyes. I wish they were contacts."
"Axel, do you know sign language?" Luka turned towards him and held up one finger to the girl, like, hold on for a second.
"A bit," Axel answered, leaning forward in his wheelchair to face the girl who was looking at him with wide, clear grey eyes. 'We are talking about our problems. My name is Axel.' The girl nodded quickly in excitement, a big grin on her face as she signed her own name out. 'My name is Marlo.'
"Oh my God," Lana said excitedly, "they're awesome! You could do some really cool cosplay or costumes with eyes like those. They're so pretty."
“What’d you do this time, huh?” Vaughn questioned, leaning his elbows against his knees. His posture was slouched, eyes glancing away from Kaz for a moment to flick around the room.
"God, you're just the gift that keeps on giving, aren't you?" Luka turned back towards Marlo after shooting a smile at Axel.
"A particularly nasty bar fight and an attempted suicide," Kaz admitted grudgingly, looking away from Vaughn as he said so. His face had been plastered all across the news when it had happened, irritation creeping into his mind at the memory of his face on the newsfeed
"Y-yeah, I guess." Axel shrugged, a faint blush spreading across his cheeks as he stuck his hands back into his hoodie.
"I can talk out loud. The nurses want me to practice anyways," Marlo explained slowly, still finding it odd that she couldn't hear her own voice as she spoke, subconsciously tugging on the colorful socks she was wearing. "What happened to you two?"
Luka ran a hand through his hair. "I have narcolepsy. It means that I fall asleep at random times. It's not as fun as it sounds. Once, I was in the cafeteria, and I was walking with my food, BAM! I black out, five minutes later I wake up, covered in my spaghetti."

“Seriously? Goddamnit, Kaz. You should have called me or something, I do have a period of time that I can access a phone in this hellhole,” Vaughn said, still frowning as he turned his attention back to Kaz.
“I have severe depression.” River spoke up

Axel chuckled lightly at the thought of waking up with spaghetti on his face as he ran a hand through his curly hair. Maybe he should have cut it when the nurse proposed to, now that it reached to below his ears. "Well, I had osteosarcoma cancer, so I lost my whole left leg." He explained, patting his grey sweatpants. "And you?"
Marlo glanced down at his leg, wondering what the prosthetic looked like. "I lost my hearing at the Boston Marathon Bombing," She explained slowly, her smile turning into a small frown at the thought.
"Eh, who gives a shit. I certainly didn't at the time," Kaz grumbled, folding his arms across his chest as he stared at the floor. He was absolutely not going to look at Vaughn as he talked about how he had tried to kill himself, no thank you. He would rather not have one of the only friends he had look at him like he was nothing
"Well. There's one reason I didn't want to come. I don't know how to react to other people's specialties." Luka patted Marlo's knee. "I want you to know that you are just as valid and important as anyone else, even though normal isn't in your vocabulary."
Vaughn gave a heavy sigh, running a hand over his face. “Just-,” he cut himself off, pausing as he thought of something again. “You should have called. I could have tried to help you.”
Marlo nodded in agreement, glancing around the room once again. Different pairs of people were conversing, each with their own stories and conversations. Everything was just silent for her.
"Yeah, we're here for you, Marlo," Axel said, speaking up as she turned back to face the two again, a gentle smile spreading across his face.
"Ah yes, because I might have called you in the middle of a job while I was drunk. Totally was gonna happen," Kaz huffed, resting his head in his hands. "Anyways, you in for the usual BS?" he asked, trying to change the subject
"I think-" Luka fell back against Axel, eyes closed and sleeping.
Axel looked down at Luka as he fell against him, releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Oh, uh. . ." He trailed off, but didn't move, glancing up at Marlo with a panicked expression.
"It's n-narcolepsy. He should wake up in a few moments," She answered slowly, stumbling over a few words as a curious expression registered on her face.
“I’ve been in here for a while, Kaz,” Vaughn said, tone lowered. He was in a terrible mood. His head and body ached terribly, and the whispers in the back of his mind wouldn’t shut the hell up.
His eyelids fluttered open and he looked up at Axel's face. "You're really soft. Like a pillow. If I ever fall asleep again, remind me to fall asleep with you." Luka sat up, blowing his hair out of his face.
Kaz turned to look at him now, frowning lightly. "Sorry, what? Are you serious? Are they like, trapping you here or something? Because if they are I will gladly start turning people into crispy fries," he said, letting a spark of dull purple electricity flash across his fingertips for effect
"Oh my God," Lana said excitedly, "they're awesome! You could do some really cool cosplay or costumes with eyes like those. They're so pretty."
"Um thanks," Thorn brushed her hair behind her ear, "I've always been made fun of for them. That and my condition. Kind of make me seem like a vampire.
"Vampires are cool." Lana stared at her for a long moment. "Although, you don't seem like a vampire. You seem like an elf or something." She looked away, making a weird face. "Can I ask you something? It might be weird."
