Cameron was silent fora moment, trying to figure out how to continue. "Well, so…the thing is….." Cameron paused again, blushing slightly. He had no idea how to tell her.
Madeline looked over at him, nodding for him to continue. "Yeah?"
"MadelineIdon'tknowhowtotellyouthisbutIthoughtIhadalotmoretimetofigurethingsoutandallbutIrisisnotapatientpersonwhenitcomestothis…" Cameron stopped and took in a breath, realizing that he had started rambling like Iris always did. "I…I want it to be you. I always did." He whispered softly.
Madeline blinked quickly as her mind translated his fast rambling into words, then more when she heard his last words.
"I– What? You… You like me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Cameron gave a small nod, not knowing what else to say.
Madeline looked down at her lip and bit her lip. She didn't meet his eyes as she whispered back, "I want it to be you, too."
Cameron looked back up at Madeline, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Really?"
"Yeah. Really," Madeline said, looking back up at him with a tiny smile.
Cameron smiled. "Maybe I should have confessed earlier then."
"Maybe you should have," Madeline teased, playfully poking him in the side.
Cameron laughed. "Hey!"
"Hey yourself!" Madeline said, laughing with him.
Cameron's phone decided to buzz at that moment, making Cameron groan. "What is it now?" He wondered aloud as he looked down at his phone.
"Something up?" Madeline asked.
Cameron sighed. "It's probably nothing. Don't worry about it." He said as he stood up.
