“Narnia? Like, Aslan and the Pevensies, Narnia? The fictional world?” Madeline questioned. “Also, one of the places I wish I could visit one day, even though it’s not real?”
“Narnia? Like, Aslan and the Pevensies, Narnia? The fictional world?” Madeline questioned. “Also, one of the places I wish I could visit one day, even though it’s not real?”
"Yeah that place."
“I feel like I’d totally visit it if I was given the chance, but, like I said, it’s fake…”
"Hehe…well….not exactly……I mean C.S. Lewis got a few details off but he wasn't completely wrong." He said as he bounded upstairs again.
Madeline blinked and stopped pacing. “Wait… What? Are you saying it’s real?” she called up the stairs, frozen to her spot.
"I don't know, what do you want me to say?" Cameron shouted back as he grabbed his backpack from where he had left it.
“I want you to tell me if you’re messing with me. If this is some kind of joke,” Madeline said, putting her hands on her hips.
Cameron raced down the stairs again. "Sorry, that's the only thing I can't tell you." He said, then stopped at the door and turned around. "Now are ya coming with me or am I going to have to go alone?"
“I— I’ll come,” Madeline said, sounding and looking wary of it.
Cameron nodded. "Okay. Follow me then."
“M’kay…” Madeline hummed as she did as told. What in the world was happening?
Cameron led Madeline to a small grove of trees behind the house and walked into them. "Walk quietly." He whispered. The grove of trees, instead of spreading out and leading to a creek like they were supposed to, only got thicker and soon Cameron spotted the trail he was looking for.
“So… We’re really going to Narnia?” Madeline whispered, still in shock.
"Not really….it's Narnia, but it's not called that. we call it Narnia just because. It's actually called Haven."
“Okay… So, are there, like, fauns and stuff? Like in the books?”
"Eh, I mean yeah but…different kinds of creatures." He suddenly stopped and grabbed Madeline's hand, pulling her aside and standing in front of her protectively.
"Relax Cam, it's just me." A voice called, as a girl who seemed to be about 18 dropped from a tree branch. She was a strange sight, to be sure. Her waist length, braided white hair contrasted her milky brown skin and deep purple eyes. Her ears pointed slightly, but that wasn't as strange as the slightly glowing purple tattoos that ran down her arms and parts of her face.
"What's up Kat?" Cameron said, relaxing his pose, but not letting go of Madeline's hand.
Madeline blinked at the girl. She was definitely not something she expected to see… She was much different than Madeline had imagined someone to look like.
Kat nodded at Madeline. "Madeline, I assume?"
“Um. Yes…? How— How did you know my name?” Madeline asked warily.
"Cameron told me a lot about you." She said lightly. "Come on, we don't have very long. Asoka is waiting for you."
"He is?" Cameron asked. "He's been expecting us?"
"I'm surprised you still question his knowledge after all this time." Kat said, slightly disappointed in him.
"Right, right, I know." He said as he followed Kat, pulling Madeline along with him.
“Wait… You told her about me?” Madeline asked Cameron softly, giving him a small smile as she was tugged along. “Also, where are we going?”
"Of course I told her about you." Cameron whispered back, smiling. "You'll see soon enough."
Madeline blushed slightly and smiled up at him. “Hm, okay… I’ll just have to be patient, then.”
Cameron laughed. "Yup."
“How long?” Madeline asked.
