"Woah really? I expected a blue and yellow fish and you were babysat by a little Jamaican crab because your father doesn't like it when you try to see the humans,"
"That's not true… Except… my parents don't like when I come up here," she admitted.
"Is your father Posiden, king of the sea?"
Moxiey was clearly startled. "You know him?"
"Nah I don't know him. Do you have a ton of sisters who all stay in line but you can't help but break the rules because the humans intrigue you,"
Moxiey bit her lip. "How many is a ton?"
"I don't remember the story that well," he laughed, "Do you have a lot of sisters?"
"I want to be where the people are, I want to see, want to see 'em dancin'. Walkin' around on those… uuhh whad'ya call 'em? oh!feet Flippin' your fins you don't get too far. Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'. Strollin' along down a… What's that word again? Street!"
Moxiey tilted her head to the side. "What?"
"You're like Ariel," he laughed, "It's a mermaid from a children's movie,"
"You know about mermaids?" she asked, panicked slightly.
"No not really. I know that cartoons but I didn't think they were real."
Moxiey smiled and gestured to herself. "And what do you think now?"
"I think you're beautiful and when I wake up from this dream, I'm going to have some things to take care of,"
Moxiey tried not to show her disappointment. "You… You think that I'm… just a dream?"
"Or maybe I'm hallucinating?" he laughed, "Mermaids can't be real… right?"
"I am!" she reinforced, grabbing his hand. "See?!"
There was nothing telling him that this wasn't real, it all seemed like real life to him. His eyes flicked to her lips, and her nose until they went back to her eyes. "I see," he said quietly.
She pulled herself closer to him. "This is real."
"This is incredible," he looked at her in wonder.
"Yeah," she breathed. Was it her imagination or… were they… getting… closer?
He hadn't noticed their closeness until he felt their lips touch.
Moxiey was surprised when her lips brushed his, but she hesitantly kissed him, unsure if he'd want to do the same.
Elijah’s hand slid to her cheek and pulled her face closer. There was no going back now, he was kissing a mermaid.
She gasped softly but scooted closer to him, tilting her face a little to the side so she leaned into his hand.
