Bruce put his phone away, smiling a little bit. "Well, we should get both sides of the story before jumping to conclusions. It might not be what you think."

Bruce put his phone away, smiling a little bit. "Well, we should get both sides of the story before jumping to conclusions. It might not be what you think."
"What?" Nat feigned confusion, "Of course, I would never assume…" She smiled, glancing at the photo one last time before putting her phone away. "–It's just nice to see him at peace, or just a little happier, with Bucky here now."
Bruce nodded. "Agreed." he replied calmly, studying the two supersoldiers for a moment. "It will be nice to see him better." he ran a hand through his greying hair.
"That's for sure," Natasha agreed, eyeing Sam's newly finished dish and going over to bring it over to the dinner table. "We should round up the others," She nodded, glancing around the room to see if everyone was here.
Everyone was indeed there, and they helped to set the table, sitting down.
Tony was sitting at the table already, answering an email. He saw the image, and smirked a little bit.
Steve gestured for Bucky to join them as he took a seat, eyes widening at the array of food before him.
"So, I know that ya'll are wondering what I made." Sam nodded, gesturing to the steaming bowl of pasta. "Gnocchi; soft dough dumplings from Italy, but homemade." He smiled proudly.
"Dig in, everybody–" Natasha encouraged, smiling at the group.
Bucky sat down beside Steve hesitantly, eyes flickering around the table, a little anxious about what would happen now.
The chatter started as they passed around dishes and exchanged little remarks about how the food looked, all smiling at each other in a shared contentedness. "See?" Steve said quietly to Bucky, "–Told you it wouldn't be so bad."
Bucky shrugged a little bit, taking some food when things were passed to him. "Yeah. Maybe." He replied softly. He shook his head a little bit, thinking.
(So…Sam should totally bring up the picture at some point lol)
Steve smiled, this is progress. Around the chatter, he made out the quiet conversation of Sam and Tony.
"–Yeah, it was adorable." Sam chuckled, sharing a knowing look with Tony, "It's on the chat."
Tony nodded. "Yeah, I saw." He replied with a grin. "I knew it. I told you so." He gloated, smirking.
Bucky was silent as he ate, eyes flickering around the table.
"It wasn't fair!" Sam said in a hush in between bites, "You saw him. We still have until Steve confirms it, but until then, well.." He shrugged, smiling and analyzing their situation as if it was a plan for a heist, "I'm betting on it. I think Nat is too, but Banner's not assuming, so he's out. I don't know about Thor."
Thor hadn't yet looked at his phone. Tony nudged him and murmured something, then looked at Sam again. "We'll see." He replied with a smile.
"Mmhhm." Sam chuckled, clinking his glass with Tony's in cheers.
Steve ate while making small talk, trying to include Bucky as much as possible but eyeing Thor's bottle of liqueuer. At the right time, he found a lull, "Hey, Thor, that wouldn't happen to be that thousand-year-old stuff, would it?" He asked with a feigned curiosity.
Thor, in the middle of checking his phone, looked up with a bright smile. "Indeed it is, Steve." He replied, then looked at his phone again. He spotted the photo, and raised his eyebrows, smiling again.
Bucky was silent for a moment.
"Do you think, uh–" Steve chuckled, glancing at the bottle and Bucky, trying to be nonchalant, "Maybe we could have some? You know, later… or.." He shrugged. Why is everyone checking their phones? People nowadays..
Thor smiled again. "Later, after dinner, we will drink and you shall tell me all about your lover." he replied with a nod, taking a sip of water, casting a glance at Bucky.
Steve choked on his own sip of water, "–What?" He managed between coughs, "Lover? Who…- what?" He questioned, trying to get a grip of his coughing and look Thor in the eye. "Was that a joke?"
Thor blinked, glancing over at Sam for a moment, then at Steve. "Sam sent out a picture. Did you not mean for us to know? I would not judge you ill for being with another man, Steven." he replied slowly, looking confused.
Steve bit his lip, frowning, debating on whether to be grateful for Thor's understanding or confused at Sam for whatever 'photo' he was talking about. He settled for the latter, "Sam." He said, trying to piece together what Thor had told him, "What's Thor talking about?"
Thor's eyes flickered around the group carefully. "Have I said something amiss?" he asked.
Tony sighed. "Sam, you better tell him, because God knows I don't actually know what happened."
Bucky was silent, looking around at the Avengers.
Sam's hands flew up in defence as the rest of the group turned to him, "–I took a cute photo: harmless," He argued, "And perfect for the fridge!" Sam's hands moved to gesture to the fridge, littered with a collection of embarrassing and cute photos that they all treasured.
Steve squinted his eyes, looking from Tony to Sam, his sole thought being '??????'
(Happy New Year!!)
Tony sighed, and unlocked his phone, holding it up to show Steve. "This photo." he said with a cheeky smile, wondering what Steve's reaction would be to the image of Steve and Bucky cuddled up together on the couch.
(aye!! happy new year! is it midnight for you yet? its only like 10 for me)
The faintest blush spread across his cheeks and Steve had to physically stop himself from smiling at the photo. So that's what Sam was squealing about. He had to admit; they looked like they belonged together, which was a bittersweet idea for Steve. He knew that whatever it was he felt for Bucky was not going to progress, and this photo was only fueling it.
"Oh– well, that-" He stuttered, eyes darting from Bucky to Tony to Sam. "It wasn't anythin-"
