@Natasha
Tara smiled back, then buried her face in his shoulder, mumbling something into his shirt.
Tara smiled back, then buried her face in his shoulder, mumbling something into his shirt.
He rubbed her back, she'd made it clear that if something was bothering her she wasn't going to say anything so the least he could do was be there for her.
River had worked a bit longer and spotted Abby sitting in her car. He walked over and knocked on the window.
As Tara hugged Darren tighter, making a strangled noise. Her shoulders shook, it was barely there, but still enough to see. She was crying. Years of bottled up emotions spilled out.
Darren noticed it instantly but didn't say anything, he just hugged her tighter and tipped his head down so his face was on her shoulder.
River had worked a bit longer and spotted Abby sitting in her car. He walked over and knocked on the window.
Abby jolted as if breaking from a trance. She inserted the key and turned it so that she could put down the window. "Yes?"
"You okay?" river asked, "You've been sitting here for an hour."
"I'm fine. Just thinking." Its not a lie.
River nodded, "Okay. Anything you need to talk about?"
Darren noticed it instantly but didn't say anything, he just hugged her tighter and tipped his head down so his face was on her shoulder.
When Tara finally stopped crying(mostly), she pulled away quickly, feeling horrible. "I'm sorry." She apologized.
Darren slid a hand to her cheek, "Don't be sorry. You didn't do anything wrong,"
Tara leaned into his hand, not having anything to say.
Darren tipped his forehead against hers, "Do you want to talk?"
Tara sighed. "Okay."
Darren took her by the hand and slowly pulled her into the living room and onto to couch. Boxes lined the corner of the room but everything else was neat and orderly. He wrapped an arm around her, "What's wrong?"
River nodded, "Okay. Anything you need to talk about?"
Abby hesitated. So many things. Eric came to mind first. Her stomach flipped.
River looked at her, "You don't have to say everything, I'm just here to help."
"Well… there's a lot. Most of it… I've never told anyone before," she admitted. (I smell a ship, Shade?)
(SO do I :)
River nodded, "So maybe it's good to get it off your chest?"
Darren took her by the hand and slowly pulled her into the living room and onto to couch. Boxes lined the corner of the room but everything else was neat and orderly. He wrapped an arm around her, "What's wrong?"
Tara sighed, leaning into Darren. "Nothing. Everything."
Darren chuckled lightly, "Is it your mom?"
"……Partially." She admitted.
"Not even Tara knows…" Abby sighed. She'd felt bad about not telling her BFF for years. Maybe River was right.
"……Partially." She admitted.
"Partially? Is there more?"
"Not even Tara knows…" Abby sighed. She'd felt bad about not telling her BFF for years. Maybe River was right.
River frowned, "Then you really should tell someone. You two are basically conjoined at the hip."
