"We're outside, Evelyn! And you're late!" Camillus called from the arena.
"We're outside, Evelyn! And you're late!" Camillus called from the arena.
Mason was scared. Scared for Iris and scared of Camillus. Camillus was in a good mood. He was never in a good mood. He was staying awake, actually interacting and even forgave Evelyn for being late. Something had happened. He was concerned. He focused on Iris and Sucorra. Sucorra had struck first, using her power. He swallowed, trying to avoid jumping into the fight himself.
(someone please join in. I'm in spanish class unwillingly and am bored out of my skull)
Iris growled, and struck out a fist, but missed, ever so slightly. However, she lashed out a foot which did connect with Sucorra's body. Her legs, to be precise. Perhaps her power is to offset aim? But that doesn't seem to be much of a power though… Iris thought.
(Oof no bueno. Sorry buddy..)
(I could make a temp character if you wanted)
(You're in class on a Sunday?)
(its all good, i'm excited to watch the fight)
(it's monday, I'm in new zealand)
"Oh, ow, ow, ow," Sucorra hopped side to side, although she was used to her body getting banged up so it didn't made her falter too much. She was back at it in the next moment, jabbing out her elbow at Iris' shoulder. It barely hit it's mark, though it did enough still.
(Oh, my b)
Iris recoiled from the hit, but soon lunged in again, throwing her weight into Sucorra, her fist in front. Though it barely scathed her opponent, she turned quickly, an elbow jabbing into her stomach.
It wasn't the most interesting fight that Camillus had ever seen, but he couldn't take his eyes off of the dueling students. There was something that made it impossible to look away.
She stepped back from Iris, panting. She needed to get a clear hit; not an almost-miss. However, her misfortune wouldn't allow that. So then… she had to trick it. Sucorra dived in once again, throwing a punch toward the girl's chest. Her luck made her miss, though that was exactly what she was planning for. The punch ended up hitting her right in the stomach.
Evelyn joined the rest of the class and began to watch the class. Is there a new kid? Even more weird was that Camillus wasn’t mad at her. She looked around and nervously twirled her hair as she looked for something else wrong. Maybe today was just a good day and Camillus was happy, yeah, that had to be it.
Mason flinched as Sucorra hit Iris. He darted over to Evelyn. "What happened? You were late and Camillus hasn't done anything, what do you think happened to make him so… out-of-character?"
Camillus knew he should stop the fight. He knew he should pull the two girls apart, applaud their efforts and move on. But he couldn't. Something at the back of his mind told him to let them fight. Some small twisted part of his head told him to keep the fight going. He shook his head violently. He'd stop it. Just let Iris fight back a little then stop it. He shook his head again and continued watching. A coil of rope next to him started uncoiling, like a snake, ready to separate the fighting students if needed.
Iris doubled over but straightened her body through the pain. Gritting her teeth she debated briefly between the chest or throat, hitting Sucorra's throat would almost certainly knock her over, or at least that's what Iris thought. But the chest might do the same thing. In the end she decided on the chest, if she hit too hard she might actually injure her windpipes. She lifted a fist and threw her entire weight into the punch, hitting Sucorra squarely in the chest.
Camillus leaped up. His ropes shot out from the floor and dragged Iris and Sucorra apart. "Alright! That's enough!" He looked a little panicked. "That was… a nice fight. So, um, the lesson is over, I think, so head to your next class." The cats eyes were wide and his breathing was heavy.
Iris just stepped back, panting. She raised an eyebrow. "You did tell us to fight."
Sucorra was on the ground, gasping. She watched Iris carefully. Who exactly was she? What was her power? "No hard feelings, yeah?" she croaked out to Iris, cracking a hint of a smile.
"Yes. Yes, I did. But I think you're done now." He laughed nervously and turned away from the students. The voice at the back of his mind had scared him. Quite a lot. He glanced at the clock "Nevermind! Class isn't over! Heh, come back to the classroom, I'll tell you some stuff."
"Yeah," Iris agreed. She'd noticed that during the fight, Sucorra too had resorted to the old way, no magic involved. But that fog, at the beginning - was that not magic?
Sucorra stood, heading off to the classroom. She paused at the entrance, turning around. "Oh! Sorry," she apologized to Iris. "I almost forgot. Here." She reached out a hand and the fog lifted itself from Iris, returning back to Sucorra. "There; much better." With that, she headed into the classroom.
Iris looked at Sucorra, confused. What'd just happened? She took her seat, with hesitation clear in her actions. Leaning in a bit next to Mason, she asked in a quiet voice, "Is it just me or does the teacher seem a bit nervous for some reason?"
