“That makes sense.” She nodded, looking around at the village. “But yeah, I hope that I can catch on without that happening.”
“That makes sense.” She nodded, looking around at the village. “But yeah, I hope that I can catch on without that happening.”
Rodney nudged her softly. "You'll be alright Char. And even if you don't get it, that's why I'm here. To wake you up when your body hasn't taught you to yet."
Charlotte giggled at the gentle touch. “I'm so glad I met you and that you're willing to put up with me and my inexperience.”
"Oh but of course. If I hadn't taken you out of that boring place, you never would've. I know when I need to rescue someone from a situation and by god did you need saving."
“I was that obvious?” she blushed, looking down as she pulled her legs to her. “I’m not going to deny how much I wanted an adventure and how much I wanted to get away but I didn't tell everybody.” she admitted.
"You didn't have to. I've been doing this for a long time, Charlotte. You don't have to be obvious for me to be able to read you like a book. It's what I'm best at."
“My hero.” she chuckled, feeling her blush darken. “So… If you really can read me like a book, how much do you know about me?” she had to ask though she wasn't sure if she really wanted him to answer. Of course, if he didn't… Well, she wouldn't be happy with that either.
He shrugged the shoulder she wasn't sitting on. "Enough. I don't know everything, obviously. But I know enough without you really needing to tell me."
“Ok.” she nodded thoughtfully, her wings fluttering to keep her balanced as he shrugged. It wasn't quite the answer she was expecting but it was a relief to hear that he didn't know everything. There were a few things she didn't want to think about.
"I'm not telepathic or a mind reader, if that's what you were worried about. I'm not nearly that good and frankly, don't want to be. I hate being in my own head, I can't imagine being in other peoples."
“Well, I'm glad to hear that.” she couldn't help but laugh. “I wouldn't say I was worried about that but it is reassuring that I still have some secrets.”
"Of course. We all have secrets. And some are definitely better left unsaid. I know that one from experience, believe me."
“Thank you.” she smiled and leaned against him. “I don't think I could have a better traveling companion.”
"Aw, you're pretty good too Charlotte. I'm sure one day you'll find someone to replace me with."
“I doubt it.” she smiled up at him. “I mean, when I'm finally an expert traveler like you, I might find someone like me to take along but they won't replace you.”
"You're so precious. I'll believe you when you come back after your first solo adventure. I would hang around in a group when I first started but then I went out on my own and never looked back."
“Precious or naive?” she asked softly. “I still have a ways to go before I'm able to go off on my own. I would like to learn more from you first.” she admitted since she'd only been traveling for two days.
"That's very true. But one day I'm sure you'll feel confident enough in your skills to go out on your own. It may take a long while but you'll get there. I'll make sure of it."
“You are so sweet.” she giggled. “Thank you.” she added actually feeling encouraged by his words.
"Only as sweet as you deserve, my friend." Rodney chuckled, nudging Charlotte softly.
Charlotte giggled again, fluttering her wings at the familiar gesture. “Thank you, again.”
"Stop thanking me for things, you'll spoil my already sky high ego." Rodney laughed.
“Your ego doesn't seem that big to me.” she laughed with him. “I don't remember you bragging on much and everything you did tell me was proven.”
"Maybe not but I've been told I'm egotistical more times than I can count. Guess it's the dramatic aura."
Charlotte laughed and shook her head. “Some people can't tell the difference?” she said in disbelief. “It's so obvious to me.”
