"Now, focus all of your concentration between your index finger and pinky finger." He says, between his own until a small ball of orange light formed between therm.
"Now, focus all of your concentration between your index finger and pinky finger." He says, between his own until a small ball of orange light formed between therm.
Allura concentrated, to the exclusion of everything else, between her index finger and pinky finger. She imagined all her energy and determination flowing down her arm, through her hand and manifesting itself there.
"Now, say "'Ignis!'" He asks. Letting his Ignis fade.
"Ignis!" Allura commanded, determined to succeed.
With that, the little pit burst into flames, making the shadows dance on the walls.
Allura grinned, she hadn't expected to succeed, but something about the magic just felt right.
Lucy’s jaw clenched upon seeing the fire, a memory coming through in her mind but she pushed it down. She kept her eyes angled towards the floor, her grip tightening on the spell book. Fire made most witches uncomfortable, due to the persecution during the Salem Witch Trials.
Robin watched with interest, standing silently next to Lucy. He noticed that she was uncomfortable, but couldn't think why.
Lucy continued to stare blankly at her shoes, running her fingers over the cover of her book, feeling the leather.
"Who's next?" Bennett asks.
Lucy raised her hand slightly. “I suppose I could go,” She said gingerly, now looking up.
"Lucy, alright." He says, manifesting another book. "Read." He prompts, gently.
Lucy sets her own spell book aside and takes the one that Bennet gives her. She hesitates, then reads the words clearly.
"Now, stretch out your arms, and do this with your hands." He says, making a triangular shape, with his thumb and index fingers from both hands.
Lucy watched him do it, then held out her arms, making the same symbol with her hands.
"Now, focus everything you have into that point, in the fire, and say 'Feretrum!'" He instructs.
A lump formed in Lucy’s throat as she eyed the fire, but she focused her energy towards it and sharply said, “Feretrum!”
With that, a hole formed in the pit, and swallows the flames up, burying them. "Well done!" He congratulates her for it.
Lucy let out a sigh of relief, the tension seeming to drain from her body. “Thank you,” She said softly. She handed the book back over to him, stepping back to where she had been standing before.
It's yours." He said. "As a souvenir, if you want it?" He paused. "Next?"
Robin stepped forward awkwardly. "Er, I can go?" He felt very small and weak in comparison to the others
“Really? Thank you,” Lucy gave Bennett a bright smile, taking the book and looking down at it. She would look through it later, she decided. She looked at Robin, giving him an encouraging smile.
"Come on up!" Bennett encouraged.
He came closer to Bennett and the other man, Orchid watching from afar.
"Now." Bennett handed him the spell book meant exclusively for nature, and had him read a section.
