"It isn't." Bennett said, as he headed out. He ran out there, slightly zigzagging past plasma shots and threw himself at a tree, landing on it's trunk, and running vertically up it. He got to the fork in the tree, and rained down a volley of plasma.
Robin stood still, unsure what to do. He flinched and held up his arms as a shield as he was instantly attacked by the other team.
"Team deathmatch like in games!" Bennett shouted deflecting plasma shots that came at Robin by shooting them in midair.
Robin tried to shoot the laser gun in the direction of the other team, not hitting anything. He eventually gave up and found a place to hide instead.
Maroon was immediately hit and he crawled behind a thing.
"Wow, you guys suck!" Bennett said. "I'm kind of a no-life, so I'm always coming here-" He got hit, causing him to fall from the tree, a cushion came up from the ground, anticipating his fall, but he caught the tree with the tip of his boot, he swivelled around turning to the holograms, and reloaded briefly before letting loose a volley of plasma. "Plus I'm kind of a literal deity, so there's that!"
(( omg, sorry i haven't been on in ages, i've had tons of school work and assessment recently ))
Odette felt uncomfortable with the gun, she wasn't usually one to battle. However, the way Bennett made the 'game' sound, felt as if this was a life or death situation. During her time in the magic dimension, she had learned how to control her echolocation abilities in the privacy of her bag and used them to avoid other people who were shooting. Thankfully, she hadn't needed to shoot anyone, but she was certainly out of breath.
"Watch out, Odette." Bennett said, tonelessly. He shot the plasma away from her. "If you need to rest, get to cover, kiddo!" He smiled.
Breathlessly, Odette nodded and found a sufficient hiding spot, it was pretty small so it was unlikely any of the other players would be able to get into it.
Lucy ducked behind a tree, occasionally popping out to fire at the holograms. She wasn’t the best aim, but she was slowly beginning to get the hang of it.
Robin curled up between the roots of a tree, trying to hide from the battle as much as possible
Bennett detached from the tree, he landed on the ground, and did a roll, landing near Lucy.
"Hey, nice moves." He said, emptying his clip into a hologram.
"Overkill!" Came a cold, dry voice. Two blades, with futuristic handles that shot energy around their edges, appeared out of the ground, in front of Bennett.
"Updates?" He said, taking them. He pressed a button, resulting in the blade shooting an edge of energy that cut a hologram in half.
"Sweet!"
He gave them to Lucy. He figured that blades were something she could get behind rather than guns, but it was a guess.
Robin watched in silence, his own gun laying discarded beside him. He was uncomfortable using it, and even if he wanted to, he was terrible at it. He wished these trees were real so he could find some animals, but realized he could just create his own. "Arach." He whispered, a small, golden bird appearing in his palm and chittering cheerfully.
Maroon cursed, "I don't like games!" he hugged himself and shot death-glares at everyone he saw.
"Alright. I've had enough of this." Bennett said. He raised his hand, and snapped his fingers. Time itself was held tautly in place. Holograms frozen, only his friends were able to function in this timeless expanse.
(I have fully excepted my responsibility as the "Virgil" of the group.)
“You’re not half bad yourself,” Lucy said, then took the blades. “This is definitely more my style.” She dived out, rolling and landing in a crouch, slicing a hologram across the abdomen.
As time froze around Odette she escaped from her confinement, wandering around the arena and blasting people near-by. It was an odd feeling, being able to move while others could not. Finally, Odette made her way to the entrance of the game after getting lost a couple of times so she could wait for the others. From her bag, she took out a buffet table and prepared snacks for the group, feeling quite hungry herself.
Lucy shrugged the gear off and set it down. “What are we doing now that time is frozen?” She questioned, fixing her blouse.
Robin cautiously left his hiding place, cupping the bird gently in his hands.
"I dunno? What do you guys wanna do?" Bennett inquired.
"Can we rob a bank?" Odette asked excitedly, she had always wanted to rob a bank- but feared getting caught. "We can return what we stole later, I just want to see what it would be like! But we can't use our powers to do it, that would be boring…"
"Rob a bank? B-but that's illegal, right? Even in this dimension?" He had created more small birds while they were talking. They made him feel more relaxed.
"Any other suggestions?" Bennett said, wanting to hear everyone out.
“Odette’s idea sounds fine with me. Could be interesting if we don’t get arrested,” Lucy commented, placing her hands on her hips.
