Lavender turned around quickly, charcoal and colored pencil shavings covering her hands.
"Yes" she said awkwardly as if she had been caught doing something red handed, that she wasn't supposed to be doing.
"That's—" she said in response, her voice cracking a bit.
"That is me." She said after clearing her throat thoroughly.
Ms. Spades nodded. Her grey eyes cut across the room, observing Lavender's side and the unmade side. "You've been assigned a new roommate," she stated. "Gather your things, you'll need to leave as soon as possible." She stepped into the room and headed over to Lavender to give her a slip of paper. "Miss Zheng is your new roommate in room 208."
"thank you." She said quietly in response, taking the paper from the woman gently, as if not to be thought of rude and grabby.
Lavender stood up quickly, grabbing her bedspread she had already set up and shoving it in the bag she brought in originally. She then threw her art supplies and other things that would fit in her duffel bag, which was a sad beat up navy blue color.
She exited the room quickly. "I can find my way on my own." She assured the woman as she left her standing in the doorway as she hurried to the corridor which she knew held the 200 dorms.
She quickly passed students while keeping her eyes casted on the ground. She arrived in the 200's corridor and slowed until she saw the door with the number 208 next to the door on a small plaque.
She entered quickly, sitting her stuff roughly on the unmade, unchosen bed. Only when she sat down on her bed, which was not her choice and sighed aloud angrily. It was only then that she noticed her roomate— or so she assumed sitting on the opposite bed, scowling at Miss Lansing.
She stopped what she was doing with her hands and stared "hello Miss Lansing" she said to the woman then turned towards her new roomate.
"Im your new roommate now I guess." She said rather aggressively, she began to unpack her stuff again, setting everything where it was in her old room, art supplies in and on the desk and posters on the wall above her bed, which would support her blue wave patterned comforter and sand colored sheets and pillows.
Adalise stifled her shock as a student barrelled past her and into the room. She broke her gaze from the other student to notice that the new girl was Lavender. "Miss Holmson," Adalise greeted. "Hello." When Lavender had entered, the dynamic of the room instantly changed. Adalise thought it would be best to leave the two to their greetings, so she took a step towards the door, looking back at the first girl only for one statement. "I never caught your name."
“Alene Zheng,” she said. “Pleasured to meet you.”
Adalise nodded. "Miss Lansing. The pleasure is mine." With that, she stepped out of the room and walked down the hallway. It almost seemed like her heels clicked louder walking away than they'd done when she had approached.
Lavender unpacked her stuff quickly, working at the speed of light, the sooner she could be unpacked. The sooner she could leave and be somewhere where she could breathe and be by herself.
"Im Lavender by the way" she grunted towards her roommate as she hung a spiderman poster above her bed, one that featured andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) Garfield as Spiderman. She then worked on hanging up another poster next to it, this one of the claymation movie, Coraline.
She then worked on setting up her desk, she placed her mug in the corner, furthest from the edge to avoid shattering it and filled it with all the pens she could fit in it, she then placed her watercolor pencils in the top desk drawer, on top of her sketchbook, which was now sad and lonely looking.
She split the books she had brought from home into two separate drawers on the right, the first realistic fiction, the second containing her personal fantasy collection. She filled the last drawer on the right with her set of copic markers, then carefully set her journal and stickers in the bottom drawer on the left.
She then sat at her desk and stared out the window above it and sighed heavily.
Alene had not thought to bring posters she hadn’t owned one in her house, she hadn’t even considered it. In her opinion, there were better ways to worship idols.
“I am Alene,” she said. She considered asking why this new girl was here but thought better if it. She had better start the dialogue in a more friendlike manner. “Is this your first year too?” Good. A connection between the two of them perhaps.
"no, I'm a sixth year. Its currently my third year attending the school." Lavender said politely, careful not to let her tone seem cold and unwelcoming.
"Are you a first year? Or is this your first year at the academy?" She asked Alene politely as she sat on the edge of her carefully made bed, she pushed a lock of her white blonde hair behind one of her ears.
(okay, i know this is closed, but I just wanted to say how excited I got when I saw Dead Poet Socitey, seriously its my fav movie)
(I know, I love it so much!!)
(I responded last so im just waiting :) )
“It is my first year here,” Alene said awkwardly. “I’m not exactly sure what to expect, but that teacher seems fine. Interesting even.”
"some teachers you'll like, some you won't" Lavender said simply, her back still facing Alene, when she spun around she took in her new roomate slowly, observing her quietly before speaking.
"It's the same with the students really." She added quietly, thinking of her own trouble to find and enjoy the company of most of the other students in her year.
(Not to rush you two, but whenever you're done with getting your characters to know each other, we can timeskip to English class the next day, or a different class first. Whatever works. I'm basically going to be all the teachers, but mainly Adalise (obviously))
(Go ahead, we’re dwindling methinks)
(I noticed that lol)
Adalise sat at her desk, waiting for her students to enter her classroom. A pair of horn-rimmed, tortoise shell glasses adorned her face, and a very large book sat in front of her. Her face looked as calm and relaxed as it would it she was asleep. But truly, she was the furthest thing from it. Excitement coursed through her at the prospect of teaching her very first class at Brookestone.
Lavender walked quickly, her royal purple colored tote bag hanging off her shoulder and banging against her right hip.
She entered the classroom, the number matching the one on her schedule and sighed with relief when she saw Miss Lansing and took the closest seat to the teachers desk, in the front.
"Hello miss Lansing, it's nice to finally see you after so many classes" Lavender said, the room still empty except for herself and the teacher.
It was the last class of the day and Lavender felt a little relieved at this, classes had been harder than last year, typical for moving up a grade.
Miss Lansing looked up. "Wow, oh God!" she exclaimed, taking off her glasses and blinking quickly. "I always forget…" Her words trailed off as she realized who exactly was speaking to her. Adalise was surprised she didn't recognize the voice sooner. "Miss Holmson! Hello, dear. It's quite lovely to see you as well."
"i'm very excited to have you as my teacher" Lavender said with a sweet smile.
"I'm sure you'll easily be on of the best teachers" She adds quickly, her smile unfaltering as she spoke to the teacher with her chin held high and her eye's looking into the woman's as she was taught.
Alene entered the door. A quickly raised eyebrow showed this was her first class with Lavender. I nod of recognition was bestowed to Miss Lansing that was not warm, but could not be said to be lacking of all friendliness,
"Are the seats assigned?" she queried.
"Oh!" She said "I hadn't even thought to ask that!" Lavender said embarrassed, covering her face with her hand, but she didn't make a move to get up, she wanted to sit as close to the teachers desk as possible, seeing as she was already comfortable with Miss Lansing.
