The honey-colored goldenrain trees that dotted the campus of the honorable Brookestone Academy seemed to glow a little brighter on the morning of September 1st.

It was the day of the Academy's Opening Ceremony. Girls ranging in ages from 11 to 18 were clustered together with their friends in the Academy's famous Seasons Courtyard. It was nestled comfortably in the middle of the grounds and had been since the school was built. There were pale cobblestones beneath the girls' feet, a bubbling fountain spurting clear water, and an assortment of small trees and brightly colored flowers surrounding them. Soft yellows, reds, and oranges complemented each other and presented the fading of the seasons from summer to fall, as the courtyard was famed for. The girls looked around the beautiful courtyard and anxiously whispered about what awaited them inside the doors.

Adalise Lansing looked over the courtyard as the girls chatted and began to form bonds that would most likely carry them through their time at school here. Adalise had met her dearest best friend on her first day here, after all. She was very excited to be a professor here, especially being an alumnus. The welcome from the staff had been more than what Adalise had expected. Her classroom was wonderful, and with a few touches, she could make it hers.

Lavender has set a goal mentally Don't be the weird lonely girl this year She instructed herself once again make some friends she insisted, though she knew it would be hard to make friends this late in her time at Brookstone, seeing as most people stayed with their friend groups they had made their first year attending, Lavender knew it would be difficult, she was currently a sixth year, a few years late of deciding to make friends.

She was looking at he schedule, and back at the numbers connected to dorm rooms they sat next to, she stopped when she found the room she was looking for, she walked in, pulling her suitcase behind her and plopped it down on her bed, she noticed the other bed was empty and figured her roommate would be there later, she began to unzip her suitcase, planning on decorating her half of the dorm room, which was on the right.

(Friendly bump! :) Also, since there's only three of you, we could just say there was a "situation," so instead of two roommates, there's three in one room, you know)

Name: Daria Hutchinson
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Year: 11th grade, 2nd year there
Appearance: https://i1.wp.com/www.petiteelliee.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/IMG_8034.jpg?w=1365&ssl=1
Style: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0b/0c/37/0b0c378b5373c63ac4b16872151710db.png
Personality: Tries to be kind, but gets tired of it easily. She worries that she comes off as cold or uncaring and tries to make up for it by being overly nice, which stresses her out. She tends to bite off more than she can chew. She's also half-convinced that all of her social skills are some secret form of manipulation. Incredibly lonely.
Strengths: Very pragmatic
Flaws: Can come off as cold or rude, isn't very hopeful
Family History/Background: The only child of very reserved parents. They love her, but they're not great at talking. No one in their family is. They barely see each other and prefer brushing over and/or repressing emotions over addressing them. They bury themselves in work instead of hashing out disagreements or arguments.
Expected Occupation: Most likely a boring office job
Hobbies: Hand sewing, reading
Theme Song: "Smoke Breaks" by Daddy and The Long Legs
Quotes: "She peels an orange, separates it in perfect halves, and gives one of them to me. If I could wear it like a friendship bracelet, I would. Instead I swallow it section by section and tell myself it means even more this way. To chew and to swallow in silence here with her. To taste the same thing in the same moment."

Daria sighed. It was her second year at Brookestone Academy, and while she wasn't exactly dreading the school term, she wasn't excited for it either. At home, no one bothered her; she could spend her days in the library or working on her independent studies, alone except for the occasional silent meal with her parents. Here, though, she was expected to be social. To find a group of friends, or at the very least, stay on good terms with her roommate. But if last year had taught her anything, it was that she was a very easy person to lose interest in. She was hardworking and diligent, according to her report cards, and she got high grades, but she wasn't easy to talk to. Too tense or too formal; too boring or uninvolved. Not the type that anyone stuck around for. Not the type to care about.

She glanced at her schedule. Her dorm door was open, and someone was already inside, shuffling around and arranging her things on the right side of the room. She stood in the doorway and knocked once on the door to get the girl's attention.

(This actually works out really well, now we can have two rooms with two each. Lavender and Daria will room together, and Narcisa and Alene will room together either across the hall or beside each other, whatever you guys want.)

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Being second irked Alene, and today she felt it. All the girls milled around, some chattering excitedly with others—probably the second or third-years, already over the awkwardness of being known—likely happy to start another year developing career skills. She pulled out her phone to search up the dorm list. Her roommate was named Narcisa, which sounded pretentious. Alene could deal with that. She was a little pretentious herself. Apparently there was a choir club, which she decided not to join. And yet…
She shook her head and walked off in the direction of her dorm, trailing a wheeled case. Might as well get settled.

Lavender snapped her head towards the door quickly, wiggling herself out of the comfortable position of laying on her stomach she had been in. "I was wondering when you'd get here" she said teasingly with a smile "come in! Come in! You have just as much authority in this room as I" she expressed, waving her to come in.

"I hope you don't mind that I took the right side, I didnt know which one you preferred, if you would like this side I will be more than happy to switch." She said truthfully, sitting on the edge of her bed and smiling at the girl. "Oh sorry, im Lavender—" she explained "and yes, my parents named me this after the flower." She added quickly, her pointer finger in the air as she explained the origin of her name.

@rot-baby-rot!

Daria tilted her head at the girl. Lavender was… expressive. “Daria,” she said, sticking out her hand for Lavender to shake. “I can take the left side; it’s no bother.” Compared to her roommate’s bright decorations, Daria didn’t have much, only a drawing from a friend. She stood awkwardly in the doorway for a beat too long before walking inside and setting her things on the bed. The dorms were the same as they were last year, dull-looking and cramped, but at least Lavender seemed nice. She smoothed her skirt as she sat.

“So,” she said, “is this your first year here? I don’t remember seeing you last year.”

@knightinadream group

Late late late. Narcisa could not believe that she is late to the first day of school. Well, she was not able to help herself. She assumed that she would be fine after staying up later than normal, but alas, her assumption would be wrong. Nevertheless energy flew through her veins as she walked with her suitcase and satchel. With her phone in her free hand, the screen light up with the dorm list. Alene. She kept repeating the name in her head. It is a very lovely name after all.

@EtherealDreamer

Lavender shook her head, causing her waves to bounce a little.

"No i'm a Junior, aka its my sixth year here, i'm just so cool and mysterious that no one ever remembers me." She said jokingly. She stood up, and pulled out various posters, setting them on her bed.

She pulled out two chalkboard posters, in which you could write on and handed one to Daria with a soft smile. "Here, I see that you don't have as many bags as me, so if you want you can draw on your wall if you get bored." She said softly.

"And if you need my help decorating I can help, my grandma was an interior designer." She said politely, as if not to invade Daria's personal life to much.

Adalise paced through the halls as the girls unpacked. It wasn't mandatory for teachers to remain on campus after the opening ceremony, but Adalise wanted to stay. Besides, it gave her time to learn a few faces and names before the first day of class. Her Manolo Blahnik heels clicked loudly on the wooden floor of the residence hall as she walked, alerting the students of her presence and giving her an air of importance she felt like she didn't quite know if she deserved or wanted, for that matter.

@EtherealDreamer

Lavender then began sorting through her luggage, setting a tape dispenser on the desk on her side of the room and began hanging up her posters, when she was done she then took out the bedding she brought; black sheets with a light blue wave printed comforter and sand colored pillow and made her bed carefully, before she left the room she set her desk up, plopping a mug in the left corner which was wedged against the walls and filled the mug with various pens of different shapes, sizes and colors. She then flattened her skirt with her hands and patted down her hair and decided to explore.

"Bye Daria!" She said cheerfully and smiled at the other girl "I shall be back" she said dramatically, clutching her chest with one hand. Once she was out of the room and out of sight she sighed, what if; despite her cheery and faux happy comments Daria didn't like her? Lavender decided not to dwell on this to much, as it was likely to send her into the never ending spiral of sadness that tended to come with being disliked. Caught in her own thoughts she turned the corner quickly and ran into a woman.

"Im very sorry—" Lavender explained, checking to make sure she hadn't injured the other female, who was a woman and seemed to be a adult figure of the school somehow. "I like your shoes" she said, pointing at the women's heels with a small, anxious and insecure smile.

@emilyevewrites group

(Aww, thanks! Honestly forgot about this, but let's go!)

Adalise gasped and took a sharp step back as a hurrying student rounded a corner tightly and ran directly into her. However, she caught herself quickly and replied with a polite smile, dusting the skirt of her dress off gently. "It's alright, I'm fine," she assured the girl, looking down at her heels at the girl's comment. "Oh yes, thank you. Manolo Blahnik – hurt like hell, but they make my legs look so good." Her eyes widened as she realized what exactly she had said. And to a student, no less! "Um… excuse me, I… I don't know where that came from." She laughed quietly.

@EtherealDreamer

Lavender nodded and smiled as she listened, raising her eyebrows for a brief second when the teacher said 'hell' just because she wasn't used to teachers or authority figures speaking like that around the school.

"It's alright miss." Lavender said with a sly smile as if she were in on a secret "I wont tell anyone" she added softly, to not be overheard.
