(okay)
Alton saw her stir, and rushed over. "Feeling alright?" He asked, handing her a glass of water.
She sat up a little, wincing as she did. "I guess." She took the water and drank it slowly. There was an obvious temperature difference between her and it, a cold rush going down her throat as she drank.
"I think…if it stays into tommorow…we should take you to the hospital…" Alton suggested lightly, creasing his eyebrows and frowning slightly.
"I'll be fine." She wasn't sure of that, not that she felt she wasn't going to be, she just knew she couldn't afford that much- money and time. A smirk found her face. "You look so worried."
"Well-" His eyes skittered otherwhere, his head inclining - "It's because I am. About you. You know."
She raised her eyebrows. "Okaaayyyy…" A chuckle escaped her lips. When's the last time someone was worried about me?
"Well, I mean, how could I not be? You hurt yourself…of course I'm worried." He ran a hand through his hair.
Her stomach made a not as she did so, a fluttery feeling attempting to get out as it tangled itself. "But I'm just me."
“And? The same could be said about me.” He shrugged.
But you're a lot more than I am. "Whatever." Than I ever was. She pushed away the thoughts deeming them as useless to her.
"I'm serious." He looked at her. "Not the whole world is against you, you know."
Their eyes caught for a moment and time seemed to stop. Something almost ached inside of her… She cleared yet throat and looked to the ground. "Yeah, that's not what I've learned over the years."
Alton held her gaze, unable to stop, until he was snapped out of it by her looking down. "Red." He spoke softly. "Am I against you?"
She squeezed her eyes at the softness in his voice. "There's no way of knowing."
"Well, I'm not. There." He reassured her softly. "Now not everyone is against you. I'm gonna help you."
"Does one person really make a difference?" It had always agrivated her how everyone would always say that. 'One person could change the world,' but there has to be a world somewhat willing to change. As if one person could convince her not to run away from all her problems. (cough cough cough coUgH cOuGh coUgh XD)
"Well…yes. Especially if it's you." Alton looked down.
"I - wait what?" She stiffened up a little. "No, I'm pretty sure I'd do anything but make a difference."
"Well, I don't think it's making a difference to the world, necessarily. It could be just one person." He looked up at her cautiously.
She sat up fully, slowly placing her feet down on the cold floor. "Who exactly would that be?" Don't do this to yourself.
"I…um…guess." Alton challenged.
She kept his eye contact, careful with how sharp her eyes were and asked once again. "Who exactly would that be?"
"Um…well…" He looked down. "Me." He answered quietly.
Fudge. A wave of shock was sent through her, but she wasn't so sure if it was shock. It pulled her stomach into knots and tied up her tongue. "I, uh umm I just-"
"Well, I mean, imagine what would've happened if I hadn't met you?"
