"But it's so inconvenient, for me and for everyone else… I don't have the luxury of having a gender crisis in the middle of an apocalypse, y'know? It shouldn't really be relevant." Kas sighed and pulled Luka closer, wanting to cling to him.
"But it's so inconvenient, for me and for everyone else… I don't have the luxury of having a gender crisis in the middle of an apocalypse, y'know? It shouldn't really be relevant." Kas sighed and pulled Luka closer, wanting to cling to him.
Luka took a deep breath before saying his next words. “I know it may seem inconvenient but right now’s all we can guarantee. It’s better than waiting until whenever this apocalypse will end,” the boy told Kas, still holding him close. “Okay?”
"I… I guess so, but it's… it's not my place to be putting my problems on people who barely know me. And like I said, I shouldn't even be thinking about stuff like this in the middle of the apocalypse. Like, why is this what I have to focus on right now instead of just surviving?"
“The thought process is a weird thing. And that’s perfectly fine,” Luka told Kas, smiling a little. “And we’ve all we got in terms of company. Just thinking about how you’re gonna make it to the next day can be pretty stressful which is why we can help each other live,” he added. “Sorry if my wording is weird.”
Kas sighed, still fidgeting as he held onto Luka. "Mmnh… I dunno… it's just really exhausting and we don't have the time for it. Who am I to think I deserve to feel good, right? It's not like anyone else does. I'm not special or anything."
“That’s why you should feel good. We need as many people to feel good as possible,” Luka whispered, holding Kas close. “You deserve to feel okay. We all do,” the boy told him, brushing his fingers through Kas’s hair.
"I guess so…" Kas buried his face in Luka's shoulder, limp and tired. "It's just hard, I guess. But I shouldn't bother you with that… you've got enough to deal with. Everyone does."
“I know how you feel, but trust me when I say it’s easier when you have people to help you. They can help you relax…” Luka rubbed Kas’s back, smiling a little. “And we’ll push through so don’t worry too much about us,” he added, trying to hide a light blush.
"But still… I shouldn't be making it harder for everyone." Kas held a bit tighter to Luka. "I'm already making it harder for you by bothering you with this stuff…"
“You’re not bothering me at all. It’s okay for you to express how you’re feeling,” Luka hugged Kas as he brushed his fingers through his hair. “Trust me, it’s okay.”
(im just stalking right now, might be on later-)
"Mmmm…" Kas still wasn't really convinced, but he didn't want to keep arguing, so he just fell quiet in Luka's arms. They buried their face further into his shoulder.
“You should sleep. We still have some time before we need to check on the others,” Luka smiled, holding Kas close as he continued to brush his finger’s through the other’s hair. “I’ll keep watch,” he added, watching the door so that they could rest.
"Okay…" Kas reluctantly complied, keeping close as he tried to fall asleep. After a while, they finally managed to drift off, although their sleep was light and fitful.
Luka sighed as he, too, started to feel tired. He pushed through it though. Kas needs it more than I do right now, he told himself, fixing his position. He kept an eye on the door just in case.
"Oh, well…" Lis sighed, "I majored in marine biology. I really did like it a lot. Made a lot of friends, but I guess it doesn't really matter now because they're all gone. Even my roommate through and after college- my best friend, at that- she disappeared too. She went to visit family around the time this all started, and I was never able to get to her. But that's enough about all that. You wanted to know about my job, right? I mostly worked in animal care and education in the aquarium. I led a lot of tours in my time there. Loved working with kids the best."
Levi paused for a bit, thinking about how to say it. "I'm sorry about your friends." He groaned and rubbed his eyes with his wrists. "As kids, we always heard that the world was dying but it was always over-population, climate change, wiping out animal and plant species, killing the rainforests and coral reefs. I never thought that it would be zombies. Or that I'd be alive to see it."
(bump?)
(whoa– sorry I've been really busy and I just kinda dont know what to do with Aspen rn-)
(And Kas is asleep rn ^^; idr what Mori is doing)
(My bad, I've also been incredibly busy!)
"Yeah… and of course, I didn't think it would happen in our lifetime either," Lis agreed, "But here we are, I guess. We kind of have to make the best of it. Otherwise, we just lay down and die. I don't know about you, but that's not something I'm interested in. Not in the slightest."
She stretched a bit.
"But yeah, it'd be really cool if you and Tohru formed a relationship. It's something to live for, yknow?"
(Beep)
(Boop)
"Yeah, fingers crossed." Levi said, "No dying on my part either, gays honour." He jokingly put a hand on his heart and the other up, palm towards Lis, then flicked it down.
"No, but seriously, no one else is gonna die, not if I can help it." Levi said, determined.
Lis nodded. "I don't think any of us would have it any other way. It's been brutal out there, but I figure we've all made it this far for a reason."
She smiled a bit.
"I'll definitely do my part to keep you all safe, too. It's definitely strange being one of the more experienced ones here, but what can you do besides doing your part?"
"Yeah, fingers crossed." Levi said, "No dying on my part either, gays honour." He jokingly put a hand on his heart and the other up, palm towards Lis, then flicked it down.
"No, but seriously, no one else is gonna die, not if I can help it." Levi said, determined.
(this makes me live.)
