Tohru's face drew into a tight frown.
"Yeah, I'm sure. But once it's fully in place and you're resting, it should feel at least a little better right away. At least, I thought that's how- uh… anyway, we'll make sure the swelling is down some and that you're on pain meds if it has to be relocated again. It's a lot to handle, honestly, and you're putting up with it just fine."
"Mmmmnh…" Kas whined and mumbled a bit, distracted by the pain and pretty out of it. "I want more meds… these ones aren't working…" He mumbled. "S-Still hurts… I… I-I need it to stop hurting…"
"I can give you another pill or two, since what I gave you isn't really something you can overdose on. But I'm afraid to mix medicines I don't know much about," Tohru admitted, "So we could try something else later- I don't know what that would be- but for now, let's stick to the ibuprofen and ice and hope for the best."
"O-Okay… is there somewhere better than here that we can go…?" Kas asked, looking up at Tohru weakly. "Everything hurts and I'm dying, probably… the meds don't work and my legs don't work and my brain doesn't work… nothing works."
"Sonewhere better to go? Like where?" Tohru asked.
Kas' frustration was making him a little restless, because he just couldn't help, no matter what he tried.
"Kas, you're not dying. You're going to need patience more than anything else to get through this. I know it's really difficult and frustrating, but what else can you do?"
"Ughh… I mean like… a bed or something…" Kas mumbled. "I'm kind of just uncomfortably sprawled across a couple of waiting room chairs right now and my back is starting to hurt too." He sighed shakily and screwed his eyes shut, biting back tears.
"Uh, yes, a bed-" Tohru murmured, "Yeah, most of the rooms down the hall have beds. Want me to help you there?"
Kas hesitated before nodding, grimacing as he sat up and ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't want the others to worry, though… do you think they'll notice I'm gone?"
"I'm sure they'll notice, but you're just down the hall. Not that hard to find," Tohru reassured him, "If anyone asks, you're just resting. Yknow, like everyone else."
Kas nodded a bit and sighed. "Alright… how do you want to do this, then?" He asked softly. "Crutches, carrying…? I dunno…"
Levi groaned and slid down the wall, letting himself end up lying on the floor, facing the ceiling. "My first relationship and we might all die." He looked to Lis and held up his hand for a fist bump. "Hell yeah, us dumb gays gotta stick together."
"I hope it means something. I really do."
"I can carry you again, if you'd rather. Probably the safer option of the two, unless you want to try crutches again," Tohru suggested.
He gave Kas a little smile.
"Sorry about all of this. Really."
Lis fist bumped Levi back, laughing softly to herself.
"Well, I can always scope it out for you. I try to be easy to talk to, you know? And sometimes, people come to me with things without much prompting on my part. So perhaps he'll bring it up on his own, or I'll weasel it into a conversation- being nosy, of course, not on your behalf- and I can see if he feels the same, if that'd help you approach him. Listen, hon. I'm shit at knowing when someone likes me, but I'm one hell of a wingman. I think. Of course, only if you're okay with it."
(I fucking love her. She's like a 180 from my original intentions for her, and I love her so much more wtf.)
"Okay… and it's fine." Kas sighed softly. "It isn't really your fault. It's my fault for being stupid and reckless. God, it really hurts like hell, though… we should probably get moving pretty quickly, yeah?"
"Oh heck yes. Wingman. Yes. Please." Levi stuttered. He groaned and covered his eyes with his hands, lying straight on the floor. "I don't wanna fuck this up. I don't want things to become awkward. Pretty bad to be fighting for survival next to someone after that."
(Levi is pretty different to what I originally planned too, he was originally going to die so- y'know)
(also 'straight' on the floor, haha)
"Yeah, I've got you," Tohru replied, trying his best to smile to put Kas at ease.
Poor kid must be stressed beyond what Tohru could imagine. He'd already been freaking out about his whole gender crisis, and even resolved to bring it up to the others, but for now, the discomfort he was in made it seem out of the question, which meant Kas just had to hold it in longer.
Tohru carefully lifted up Kas and moved him to one of the beds in an empty room.
"Yeah, I understand. Because even if there's nothing, we've still gotta stick together," Lis said, "And like you said, awkwardness is bad for teamwork in times of crisis. On the one hand, I doubt the guy would be angry. He doesn't seem the type. But since I can help you carefully tread those waters, I absolutely will."
Lis gave a soft smile.
"Love's a bitch, huh?"
(Damn poor Levi :((( I was also going to introduce someone who was going to die as my second character but instead decided to rework Lis. Still considering, but idk who I would add, or if I'd come up with someone completely new.)
(Lmao mood)
Kas closed his eyes when he was lifted, looking completely exhausted with his face a bit contorted in pain. Their heart was racing, and they seemed to be generally very tense and uneasy. By the time Tohru had gotten him into one of the hospital beds, he had already passed out.
(Heyyyy sorry for being late)
Bean held Lilac and Luka close as she looked around quietly. Part of her just wanted to stop the pain but she had to stay alive for her siblings. At least…until they didn't need her anymore. Luka was asleep as he nuzzled his sisters. Bean smiled, ruffling both Luka and Lilac's hair.
(Okay,,, I'm back, sorry about that. Things have been very very hectic around here. Not in a bad way. Just finding an apartment, preparing to move, lots of out of town trips to visit friends and family before school starts, etc.)
"Kas? Kas, you alright?" Tohru choked, shaking the other lightly.
Oh shit, is the pain so bad he passed out? What the fuck?
He stood next to the bed, biting down on his lip as he looked over Kas.
(Np <33)
Kas stirred a little when Tohru shook him, managing to open his eyes. They looked very disoriented, and couldn't get their eyes to focus. He groaned softly and grimaced, curling up into a tight ball on the hospital bed.
"Kas, what can I do?" Tohru asked softly, noticing the other was still conscious, I only barely.
"Ugh… I'm so sorry- I should've been more careful."
"Mmngh…" Kas shook his head a bit, hugging his stomach tightly with both arms. "I don't… I don't think there's a whole lot to do… pain meds, maybe…?"
After Bean fell asleep, Lilac got up and went to check on the others. "Mr. Tohru! Mori! Anyone?!" she called out as she paced the halls. She knew her siblings would stay asleep. They needed to since they hadn't slept so well.
