(I think that plan was somehow abandoned-)
(Idk)
Earl followed, pistol raised.
"You hear a single groan or branch snap, run. You snap a twig or make a loud noise, run." He advised, trying to minimize the noise he was making.
He wished he had a silencer on his pistol, or anything that could make the noise from his gun quieter. Earl could shoot a zombie without much trouble, almost no noise.
Rachel nodded, stepping almost silently.
"Kas, I'll carry you if we need to run. You can't be doing that with your knee still healing."
She eyed the woods cautiously, daring a zombie to come out. It was foolish, considering what they were doing. But Rachel couldn't help but want to burn the monsters.
"You don't need to carry me. I'll be fine." Kas insisted, keeping close to the group so he wouldn't get separated. He kept an eye out, walking as quietly as he possibly could so as to not alert anything.
The sisters rushed back to the group. “We shouldn’t split up!” Bean cried out to the others. Lilac nodded. “How knows what could happen?!” Lilac teared up. She didn’t want to lose anymore people…not again…Luka looked at the others, worry showing in his eyes. “We need to stick together. That way we can help each other,” he nodded, siding with his sisters.
"Hey, hey, hey, why the fuck are we considering splitting up?" Tohru snapped, "That's a horrible idea! We're not being actively pursued, either. Look, I'm as nervous as the next one of you, but don't act like we're being chased down when we're not. As far as we're concerned, this is just another normal move out of another campsite."
Lis skirted the edge of the group.
"Right. And remember zombies can run too, so it's not as simple as booking it away. Sometimes it is better to fight. Let's just make sure to avoid the woods, where they're probably hiding in daylight, and we should be fine, okay?"
Bean nodded, pulling Lilac and Mori close. “So, if we treat this like another campsite, we’ll be fine?” Lilac asked, trying to remain calm. Luka wanted to ask the same question. Bean nodded once more. “Yeah, we don’t go too fast or else we risk getting caught. But…not too slow or else we will have to fight,” she sighed as her siblings went silent.
Aspen watched the others quietly, letting her bat hang loosely at her side, she bite her bottom lip, chewing on the skin on the inside of her cheek, and sighed.
"Then why the hell is everyone agreeing to this plan?" Earl looked back at Tohru, annoyance clear on his face.
"No, we shouldn't split up, but that's apparently what's happening." He said, putting his hand on his hips.
"I mean, I agree with your statement. But everyone was doing this other thing."
“We agreed to it because we thought we had to,” Lilac remarked, trying not to get a little annoyed. Luka stepped in between Earl and Lilac. “Whoa, whoa, chill! It’s done, it’s over with! We’re here now and we need to go!” he yelled, clearly frustrated. Bean nodded in agreement as she kept herself from getting too involved.
Aspen watched from the sidelines, not intervening, but slipping her hands into Beans, and pulling her to the side, where she laid her head on Beans shoulder "should I feel bad? agreeing to the plan?" she whispered to Bean, so no one else could hear but themselves.
Earl looked concerned at Luka. This sudden burst of anger had surprised him, taken him off guard.
'You sure we're the ones who need to chill? Seriously, you look like you need a break."
He put a hand on his shoulder.
"If we're not going to go in waves, let's just all go, okay everyone? Luka, maybe just relax for a little while."
Rachel shrugged. "Alright. Who'll take point?"
She hooked her weapon onto her backpack with a calm air about her/
"Tohru? You want to do that?"
Bean shook her head. “No, you shouldn’t. We’re all stressed and that was the first plan anyone suggested, so of course we went along with it,” she held tightly onto Aspen’s hand. “You were just tense and on edge…it’s okay…” she smiled a little, kissing her on the head. She wanted to help the other girl feel better. Luka covered his mouth in shock. Did he really just snap at the others?! “Y-Yeah…I-I think I need a break…” he whispered as Lilac looked away.
Tohru shook his head.
"I-I don't know… I don't know…" he murmured, "This is exactly how it all started… We couldn't agree on anything, and next thing we knew…"
Lis stepped up.
"Look, I'll do whatever you lot need me to do. Tohru looks rough. I'll take point."
"Everyone just chill, god." Kas shifted his weight, looking tense and anxious. All of the fighting was getting him on edge, and he couldn't bear to be standing still. "If you don't stop yelling, you're gonna draw some unwanted attention. So everyone just shut up so we can get moving! As a group. Stick the people who are injured and or can't fight in the middle, and everyone else in the front or back."
Luka nodded in agreement as Lilac moved to the middle. Lilac couldn’t fight because she had Mori in her arms. She was not going to let go of him since it would be easier to travel this way. It wasn’t a problem anyway, since Mori was very light. Bean meanwhile moved to the back to keep watch from behind. Luka stood next to Kas, offering his help if he needed it.
Mori clung tightly to Lilac, looking pale and afraid. He didn't really know what was going on, but he could tell that it wasn't good, and it scared him. He didn't protest being in the middle, knowing that he was in no state to fight.
Rachel moved to the back, gripping her spear. So far, things were good. No one was injured, no zombies showed up, and she wasn't working on any hurt people.
"Anyone feel like they're not stressed?" She asked casually, trying to cheer the group up with some conversation.
Earl shrugged. He always felt stressed. The apocalypse wasn't the most relaxing thing to happen to him.
Then again, he was always stressed in some way, regardless of the situation. Him dealing with the company, taking care of his sister, training.
"You know me."
Lilac brushed her fingers through Mori’s hair, in an attempt to to calm him down. “Shh…we’ll be okay…just hang on, okay?” she whispered, looking around for any danger. “And when we start running, I’m gonna need you to close your eyes. Don’t open them until I say,” she added, knowing that the others fighting would get gory pretty quick. Lilac then looked back to Rachel. “Ehh,” she moved her hand side to side as if to portray a neutral emotion.
Levi took a few deep breaths to block out everyones yelling and then stepped over to the group. "Kas' idea is great. Me and the scout group can run ahead quickly while the rest of you wait here for us to come back."
Mori whimpered softly and closed his eyes, burying his face in Lilac's shoulder. Kas preened a bit at the praise, but didn't allow himself to soak it in for very long. "Alright. Ideally, we'll get out of here quickly and without complications."
Lilac held Mori close. “We should get going now before the worst happens,” she told the others, not taking her eyes off of the kid. He didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve to be in this situation. No one did and yet here they were. She hated it.
