“M-Maybe not too far from the outpost? That way we can visit as often as possible…” Lilac suggested as her siblings nodded. Bean put her hand on Luka’s shoulder as Luka closed his eyes, trying to hold back tears.

"Alright, point me in a direction, and I'll try to break the top of the soil for you," Tohru said, "Sorry we don't have enough shovels, but it'll probably work better if you take turns anyway."

All three Rose siblings examined the area until they found the perfect spot. Lilac pointed as the other two nodded. “Here’s good…”

The spot they chose was a small grassy clearing in between the beech trees. It was partially ringed by dandelions, daisies, and sometimes mushrooms, so it was fairly recognizable and easy to find.
"It's a nice spot," Lyn said.
"Mm," Josefine agreed. She turned to Lyn and said quietly, so no one else would hear, "What are we going to do? Are they going to take turns digging, or are we going to take turns with them?"
"I don't know," she shrugged. "I thought we could just dig with our hands if not."
They were okay with this. They were pretty used to getting dirty at this point, even if it meant more laundry later.

"It is," Tohru agreed.
He took the shovel and started working at the top of the soil.
"She's lucky to get a burial, in a spot like this, no less."
Tohru was relieved to find that the soil wasn't packed too densely, and that he was able to push through it without overexerting himself.

“Thanks…” Lilac smiled sadly as Luka nodded. Bean holds Luka close to her as Lilac joins them. Soon both Bean and Luka start to join in on the digging.

Mori sat down nearby, not wanting to be in the way. He held the flowers close to himself, his heart pounding as he struggled to process what had happened. He hiccuped weakly and took off his mask to rub at his eyes, keeping the flowers close to his face so he could smell them instead of the blood.

Josephine also joined the others, bending down and pushing away the soil with her fingers. Lyn simply stood where she was for a moment, rather dazed, before remembering herself and going down beside Josefine. It was indeed good the dirt wasn't packed in too densely, or else they would be even more useless than they already were, Lyn thought.

Luka continued digging but he started shaking slightly. Eventually he dropped the shovel and fell to his knees, sobbing into his hands. Bean and Lilac rushed over to him, hugging him.

"You guys can take a break, you know," Tohru said, "I've got most of this. It's okay to stop and grieve."
The words coming from his mouth were kind, but his affect was stone-cold. To be fair, he was a lot more desensitized than he realized. Even now, he was stricken numb. It was almost like his emotions had shut down in order to defend him.
Tohru made sure the grave was long enough, then worked to dig a bit deeper. It was hard work, and it would take most of the day, probably, even with others helping. But he figured this was what the siblings maybe needed. This kid deserved a proper burial instead of being left to rot in the sun and be eaten by zombies and wild animals.

Mori drew his knees up to his chest and started rocking himself a bit where he sat, his eyes still wide with fear and his face very pale. His heart pounded hard in his chest, and the flowers in his hand seemed to be the only thing around him with any color. He shuddered, wrapping his arms around himself as he hiccuped and cried softly.

Luka continued to sob as his siblings held him close. Sure, Bean and Lilac were also hurting but it hurt Luka a lot more since Hailey was his twin. I can’t believe she’s really gone… Luka’s mind was filled with thoughts like these and several I’m sorrys.
