"Are you sure?" Asa asked. "I just need a second or two." She climbed off the bed, stretching her wings a little before folding them against her back.
"Are you sure?" Asa asked. "I just need a second or two." She climbed off the bed, stretching her wings a little before folding them against her back.
”I’m sure.” Ashera nodded. ”You can take as long as you want. I’ll only take a minute or two but I don't mind you using my room.” she smiling softly as she stood up.
"Okay." Asa flicked her tail a little, sitting back down. She really did just need a moment. She slowly returned the smile, hands in her lap.
Ashera smiled brighter and quickly grabbed her clothes for work. ”I’ll be right back.” she said before lightly placing a kiss between Asa’s horns and darting to the bathroom.
Asa grinned at the kiss, leaving into a little before Ashera disappeared to the bedroom. Area sat on the bed, stalling a moment, then shifted to her dragon form. She sat on the bed, front legs crossed.
Ashera changed into one of her usual flowing skirts and a slightly less breezy shirt with tighter elbow-length sleeves. After brushing her hair and making sure that she looked ”human appropriate”, she grabbed a hair tie and came back to check on Asa.
”How do I look?” she smiled, giving a twirl to show off her outfit.
Asa looked with when Ashera came out, nodding her head.
"You look really good!" She smiled, jumping off from the bed and padding over to Ashera.
Ashera smiled brightly and knelt down so she was closer to Asa. ”Thank you. And you look as cute as ever.” she complimented in return. ”Did you want to come with me and watch?” she asked a little hesitantly.
Asa thought a moment, then nodded.
"It'll be interesting to see what you do for your job." She was smiling from the compliment, keeping close.
Ashera nodded and gently picked up the young Dragon. ”Alright. It's really not much. I just make ”potions”, ointments and charms for people depending on what they want or need.” she explained, standing back up to head downstairs.
"Oooh, that sounds really cool!" Asa snuggled down in Ashera's arms, happy as she was carried downstairs. She let out a happy sound, more habit than anything by now.
Ashera smiled at the sound and her interest in her work. ”It’s simple enough. I'm not the only Fae who can do it but I have a pretty good reputation so I get enough customers for this to be a job.” she admitted with a shrug. And it was much more preferable to trying to find a job in the human world… But she wasn't going to verbalise that.
"Well, I'm glad you get to do something you enjoy as a job. It means a lot when you're really good at something and enjoy it…" She leaned her head against Ashera, smiling.
Ashera smiled softly and petted her smaller friend. ”That’s very true.” she agreed happily.
A firm couple of knocks echoed at the door.
Asa had been about to respond when she heard the knock. She quickly closed her more, a little frightened by how close she had come to being heard. She pushed herself closer to Ashera, closing her eyes a moment.
Ashera held Asa comfortingly closer and continued to pet her. ”It’s alright. I’ll protect you.” she whispered, lightly kissing her forehead before going over to open the door.
Asa nodded her head a little, leaning into the kiss. She stayed in Ashera's arms as she opened the door, peeking over to look at the person there. She let out a soft sound, staying close to Ashera.
Ashera smiled politely as she opened the door fully, revealing a somewhat nervous-looking young man with short blonde hair and dark-toned eyes. ”Hello sir. Please come in.” Ashera greeted.
The human swallowed a little and hesitantly walked in. ”T-thank you for seeing me, ma’am.” he said stammered softly.
Asa sniffed a little, but didn't move to go nearer to the human. Honestly, she didn't trust him, both because of his nervousness and that he was just human. Nervous humans were prone to striking out, in her experience. Best to stay close to Ashera for now.
Ashera nodded and lead the human to her kitchen, still petting Asa. ”Now, what can I help you with?” she asked kindly, as she studied him carefully.
When the boy started explaining, still very nervous, it became apparent what he wanted. He had a crush on some girl and a big job interview coming up soon but he seemed to completely lack any form of self-confidence. What he really needed was a couple of therapy sessions, not a magical quick fix.
Asa did her best to pay attention, but eventually she stopped trying. She settled into Ashera's arms, closing her eyes and letting their talk was over her. She'd pay attention when Ashera did something interesting.
Ashera smiled softly at Asa but continued to listen to her customer. When he stopped talking, she looked at him and nodded. ”I understand what you are here for and I can help you.” she said before standing up and going to her little office and opening a small wooden chest.
Asa perked up a little when Ashera left the customer to go to her office, interest piqued again. She looked at the chest, very interested indeed.
The chest contained a large variety of colorful stones in varying sizes, much like the stone pendant she had given Asa. Ashera sorted through the chest for a moment before picking up two stones about the size of a coin.
”Both of these charms can help you but you only need one.” she explained as she returned to her guest. ”You just need to keep the one you choose in your pocket or hold it in your hand.” she said, placing them on the table in front of him.
Asa looked from the stones in the box to the one still around her neck, smiling a little. They were all really pretty, and Asa felt particularly pretty in the one she has been given. She watched as Ashera pulled out the two stones for the customer, letting out a soft sound. They were very pretty indeed.
