Ronan frowned now, looking at Lila. “What do you mean by that?” He questioned, getting up. He walked across the room and snapped open the instrument case, putting the violin inside before snapping it closed. He came back over and sat down on the edge of the cot again.
"It's just," Lila sighed, "I don't know. My mom used to tell me stories of the South Sector and they make this place sound all that great."
“Well, those stories are a bit off. Verity used to be one big sector before the war, but afterwards was when the iron wall was put up. The North Sector flourished while the South was left to rot,” Ronan explained, glancing out a gap in the wall.
"I'm aware," Lila responded. She crossed her arms, "I was born in this sector."
“You were? How strange,” Ronan said, leaning against the concrete wall.
Lila mentally slapped herself, "Yeah. Though my mother and myself got out of the South Sector when I was 5."
“And your father?” Ronan questioned, eyes narrowing in slight suspicion.
Lila almost held her breath, "He was dead by that point."
Ronan nodded slowly in response. “I see..,” he started. “How long do you think you all will be staying here?”
Lila looked over at the others, "Whenever they leave I'll leave."
“And are they staying?” Ronan asked, motioning towards the two Malchai. His arms folded loosely across his chest. He had never met a Malchai who didn’t want to come and stay in the South Sector. For humans, the South was a hellhole, but for monsters Malchai, it was considered a paradise.
"Are you staying Dax? Calixto?" Lila asked the two. She couldn't, not exactly. She was a half breed, no place was haven for her. Her hand reached for the medallion again.
Dax nodded, he never wanted to go back to the North Sector.
Karina looked at Calixto expectantly. She knew he would say yes. The only reason to have stayed with her was because of the iron wall. She frowned at this, knowing he would really leave this time.
Calixto didn't think twice before nodding. Hell yeah, he was staying.
"Just maybe not here, cause you seem pretty pissed with us just standing here," he said.
(Calla's been saved and we're all in the South Sector rn.)
//so idk how to jump in
So I’m gonna pretend Avi went to like
Scout
Or something
Calla dug her face into Ronan's chest, silently crying. The flicker of flames were just a memory, but she could still feel them. Still feel the man's spit on her cheek. "Burn in Hell." What had she done? Was she really that bad of a person? Was she even a person? She was a monster, reaping and feeding, taking other's into no account.
Ronan peered at the Malchai, a smile forming on his lips, but it was something more on the dark side. “A smart one. The packs will enjoy you,” He said before turning his attention back to Calla. He rubbed at her back gently, leaning down to whisper a few soothing words.
Lila sat down on the floor. She removed her medallion and stared at it. Her thumb rubbed over the metal. This was she had left of her family.
Calla reached up and touched Ronan's nose, liking the feeling of him rubbing her back. He was speaking, but Calla couldn't hear them, as she was slowly falling into a deep sleep. She closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around him, trying to stay warm.
Ronan now smiled warmly when Calla touched him. He continued to rub her back as he held her close to his chest.
Lila whispered to herself, "Are you watching me mom? Dad? Am I doing the right thing?"
AVI got back and sat down next to Calla and Ronan, not saying anything.
(I JUST READ THROUGH THIS ENTIRE THING AND NOW I'M ATTACHED! Do you want a Corsai? Caus they seem cool?)
