Afriel laughed more as she picked up a pebble and chucked it at him, "it was a joke I swear!"
Afriel laughed more as she picked up a pebble and chucked it at him, "it was a joke I swear!"
Zackary batted the pebble away and continued throwing fruit. "IT WAS A SIN!"
"Says the demon!" Afriel looked for another pebble but just ended up throwing her paper work at him.
The paper landed pathetically between them.
"The hell is this?" Zackary picked up the paper quickly.
"Nothing!" Afriel instantly regretted it and quickly gathered the paper and snatched away the one that he'd grabbed. "Just paper work."
Zackary kept a grip on the paper. It threatened to tear.
"I wanna know what it is," His voice was soft.
Afriel panicked for a second but its not like any harm could come from him knowing, "that's- remember how so many died? Those are their paper work. If I sign them they get another life on earth. If I don't they go to heaven and don't have to worry about the war anymore." She was glad that he'd taken a paper that wasn't useful instead of the Straiges.
Zackary hummed and handed it back. "That's nice. Do you do both sides or just the Angels?"
"Just the Angels. Just my men." Afriel faught back tears as she spoke, "I get to be a judge of how well they've fought." But it stung, because in their last battle she wasn't there.
Zackary dipped his head and continued fishing around in the bag, letting her have her moment. He ate an entire rack of grapes, then another pear he found.
Afriel leaned her head back sighing deeply. "You really like fruit then?"
Zackary poked his head up out of the bag. "Yee. Fruit's super good."
"I can bring you more if you'd like. if you come back tomorrow." Afriel poked him in the shoulder taunting him with the promise of more fruit.
"I'll be here for a while," Zackary responded breezily, waving a hand. "Just bring me more fruit and I won't kick you out."
"Wow. Kick me out?" Afriel laughed again, "I will come and go as I please, thank you very much."
Zackary glowered at her over the bag. "Remember, I was the one who saved you, I can be the one to kill you."
"Then it'd have been for nothing." Afriel shot back a smug grin, a challenge in a way.
Zackary's wings shivered. "I suppose you're right. Smart little Angel." He waved a finger at her.
"Indeed I am." Afriel let her grin melt into a warm smile she she stood and stretched. "I came here to work and you've distracted me."
Zackary stretched out on the ground, moving his legs out, yawning. "I guess I did, huh?"
Afriel moved deeper inside the cave and once again started go through the paper work. Every now and then a tear escaping her eyes. After a while the sounds or pencil agents paper stopped, the small sounds of her slow breathing filling the air indicating she'd fallen asleep.
Zackary wiggled into the bag, pulling his shoulders, his chest and waist, his legs and somehow his wings into the bag. He fell asleep like that, which of course it could've suffocated him, why else would he be in that bag?
Sometime in the next morning Afriel awoke with a start. She gathered her papers and got up to grab her bag but quickly stopped when she saw Wings had shoved himself in there. "Um, Wings?"
There was a faint snore in response. The bag was bulging over Zackary's large wings (some sexual inuendoes right there), otherwise, he fit in quite well.
"Wake uuuup." Afriel crouched down and started to shake him, "I kinda need that bag back."
