Evanescent Mettle

One of the figures turned around, and Cert matched her face to the information given to him. This was almost too easy. He called out, "You both are wanted for questioning by the Watch."

@ThermalNight

Willow noticed Masalee tense and started searching for any corpses close by, she was distracted and only caught the last of what the man was saying, "-by the watch."
She got the reanimated animals to stay close but not out yet, she would wait for someone else to make the first move.

Evanescent Mettle

Masalee recognized him from vaguely. Wasn't he a higher ranking member? What was he doing all the way out here? She couldn't jump him while he was on a horse, so she waited to attack and adopted what she hoped was a casual stance.

Evanescent Mettle

Cert dismounted, hoping to conduct a more civil conversation. As he was opening his mouth though, he fell to the ground as one of the figures attacked him. His horse reared up behind him.

Evanescent Mettle

As Masalee tackled him to the ground, she felt handcuffs on his person. Taking those, she ducked out of the way of the horse and darted back, hoping Willow would give her cover. She flashed Willow the handcuffs, conveying that if she could cuff him, the fight would end much sooner than otherwise. Plus, they'd walk away with a horse.

@ThermalNight

Willow instructs Max to stand close while a decaying animals corpses jump on top of the watch member, she hopes it's enough to keep him down until Masalee can cuff him, she walks forward slowly to the watch member, making sure Max was in front of her, ready to attack.

Evanescent Mettle

Cert was overwhelmed. Suddenly he was surrounded by the undead, and though he could hold himself in a fight, he was much more of a talker. He really should have seen this coming, honestly. He drew his sword and waited in a readied position.

Evanescent Mettle

Masalee smiled. It was so nice when Willow's reanimations were out to get someone other than herself. And the Watch member seemed to know that he was in a bad place. "Let's not resort to violence if we don't have to. You're clearly outmatched. So. I assume you're trying to take us back to the city to be questioned. And we've both independently decided we don't want that. So that's not happening. What should we do with you then?"

Evanescent Mettle

Cert's eyes narrowed. "Resistance will only make your sentence worse. Cooperate and maybe mercy will replace justice, and keep in mind that even if you escape me, you cannot run forever. Justice will triumph." With that, he drew his sword. Behind him, an arcane blue light softly drifted off the horse, who turned to attack the necromantic animals.

Evanescent Mettle

Hopefully, the sword would slow his movements enough to give the unarmed Masalee an edge. She kicked at his wrist, trying to get him to drop the sword. He didn't, but his arm knocked away enough to give her an opening. She took it, punching at his stomach.

@ThermalNight

Watching Masalee attack the man out of the corner of her eye, Willow mainly focused on stopping the horse from attacking her reincarnations. The horse charged into a few of the corpses, breaking a few, leaving only 3 left intact, and bucking up above them. When the horse exposes it's underbelly Max goes in and takes a chunk out of it and runs back quickly, dropping the flesh he'd taken with him and preparing for another attack.

Evanescent Mettle

When the horse is attacked, it takes the damage and reacts, but more blue light billows from the wound. Cert kicks at Masalee's footing, trying to topple or unbalance her, but in failing to do that, he retreats back towards the horse for more cover and slashes with the extended reach of his sword.

Evanescent Mettle

Masalee ducks, but just barely. Her arm is grazed. Nevertheless, she bounces back and lands a well-aimed punch on the Watch member faster than he can see. In the blink of an eye, she has his sword.
(How are the fight scenes? Are you enjoying them? Are they dragging? There are definitely other options we can explore to resolve conflict.)

@ThermalNight

When the horse began to emit more blue magic Willow steps back. She looks over to see how Masalee is doing and notices that she now has a sword which is an interesting development. Willow backs up a bit more, hoping for this to be resolved with less fighting even if she thought they'd win.

(I'm not the biggest fan of writing fighting scenes, mainly because I can't write them. We should properly wrap this one up soon though)

Evanescent Mettle

Slowly, with the sword pointed at Cert's neck, Masalee steps forward and cuffs him. Oddly enough, the horse matches Cert's frozen state. "Okay. No more fighting. We can't just let you go though. Willow, what do you think?"
(Okay so we're on the same page there. Given the plot we have set up though, there will be more fight scenes in the future. How do you want to handle those? I'm content with just skipping to the end and just writing the outcome and interesting things that may have happened)

@ThermalNight

"We could leaving him here, or put him on his horse and send him in the other direction, althoughthat might backfire depending on how that connection works. It would be a hassel to brin him with us and we want to travel quickly. Any ideas?"

Evanescent Mettle

"If we leave him here tied up on the side of the road he'd be in a really bad position, and I'm not necessarily comfortable with leaving someone in that sort of danger. If we take him though we can use him as leverage against the Watch."

Evanescent Mettle

Hah. They could try to keep him subdued. "Clearly, you two are criminals and it is my cosmic duty to ensure that your crimes and deception be brought to light. You cannot escape justice."

@ThermalNight

Willow couldn't help but smile, "it would be difficult to bring him though, he seems to be dependent on taking us in. I could head into town and buy more rope, do you think he has any money on him?"
