"okay, let's walk and talk, where are we going to find someone to block this enchantment?"
"okay, let's walk and talk, where are we going to find someone to block this enchantment?"
"Everyone I know who may help is already involved with Lark's gang, so I have no ideas."
(Sorry I took so long to reply; for some reason the website marked this conversation as read?)
"Hell, what about you cert? Do you know anyone who can break enchantments?" Willow asked casually, hoping he did in fact know someone.
(Dont worry, I've been offline the last few days anyway)
"No, I don't think so."
"Well what about this," Masalee suggested. "You take the key and go back to the city. I'll answer your questions, and you'll be safe. They'll protect you if Lark ever attacks, but I don't think she'll mess with the Watch. And we'll collect my aunt and leave."
Cert thought for a moment. "Okay. That's reasonable. First question then: who is Lark to you?"
"She was my best friend. We were both in the gang, and I betrayed her when we were caught stealing from a noble. I had freed myself. I could have freed her. I didn't. I probably would have gotten caught if I tried, so I didn't."
Willow observes, she had questions, of course she did, but she decides they would be to personal to ask. She waits for Cert to ask his next question, hiding her opinions on the matter.
"Wait! Why did the Watch let you join?"
"Think community service. It was either join the Watch under heavy surveillance, the mines, or death."
"And if you desert?" Cert asked pointedly.
Masalee met his gaze. "You know what happens. Will you kill me?"
"Not today."
"How many more questions you got?" Willow asks, looking at Cert. They needed to move soon, the faster the better.
"Just one more. Will you, or Willow, hurt anyone?"
"Not unless they hurt us first. Willow's right. Here's the key. We're going now."
Willow nods, "Bye Cert," she turns to go.
Cert leaves and there is a moment of silence. "We should have taken his horse."
"Yes we should've," Willow looks at the ground then to the direction they're heading, "Well let's just start moving, cant help it now."
"Yeah." They stick to the less traveled paths, the easier places to hide.
Willow keeps her eyes open, paying attention to the surroundings. She notices a shadowy figure in the tree line and nudges Masalee, pointing at the figure.
Masalee catches sight and looks back to Willow, silently asking if they should pretend they saw nothing.
Willows eyes flick to the road they're on and she nods discretely, continuing on the way. It might not be anything.
