Nyx looked up, and nodded. "Alright. Do you need to, uhm…plug it into me for that information, or what?" he asked, looking at Jude carefully. His blue eyes were still alight, and he couldn't wipe the smile from his face as he looked at Jude. He didn't want to. He did want to be kissed again, but he knew that wouldn't happen.
Jude tilted his head curiously, "I hadn't really thought of that, but what about a wireless connection?" He asked, wanting to smile at Nyx's smile– he just had that effect on him. "That could be faster, but do you know if it's possible?"
Nyx frowned a little bit, thinking. He touched the access port at the back of his neck, blue eyes narrowed slightly with concentration. "I'm not sure if my hardware is compatible with wireless." he said slowly. "Even if it is, I do not know how to make it work."
(gtg ill try to come back)
(ok. I gtg to bed soon tho, so I may not be on)
"Well–" Jude said, rebooting a saved server page on his laptop, crouching beside Nyx and scrolling through the crowded page. "I designed this 'pool' server when I was a teenager, whenever I'd have to stay here. I got bored– so I hacked into the system, kinda." He shrugged, reading the words on the screen as they popped up and disappeared.
"What was your..um…project number?"
Nyx glanced at him. "CCX-18." He replied after a moment, tucking his knees to his chest and resting his chin on them. "Why?" He watched Jude for a moment, then looked at the computer screen, absorbing the information as best he could.
Jude tapped in Nyx's code into the fileshare server and found what he was looking for; his encrypted file. He sighed, inputting his old encryption key and hoping it was right. "Oh yeah– it's all here." Jude swivelled the screen towards Nyx, "It's the project…data, I guess."
Nyx nodded, eyes flickering away from the file after a moment. "Oh." He replied slowly, looking at his toes as if they were the most interesting thing in the world. His chin still rested on his knees.
He managed to find the hidden network for Nyx, typing in a few commands and connecting it to the printer's receiving file. The printer whirred to life immediately, humming in place before buzzing into work.
"There, so it'll just work on its own," He minimized the server page and opened up Google.
"So we can watch or look at stuff while we're waiting."
"Alright." Nyx said. He looked up, eyes flicking from the computer, to Jude, and back to the computer. "Thank you." He said softly. "For… everything." He bit his lip a little bit, and fidgeted for a moment. I want to be kissed again… Part of him thought, wanting desperately to tell Jude that. But he couldn't. No way would he say that, after…no. Jude had said it was a mistake. Just a mistake. Nothing more. So no kisses.
Jude smiled shyly at Nyx, the air around them feeling still- like a blank canvas waiting to cater to the mood.
"You're welcome." He said lightly, sitting down on the cold floor, facing Nyx, "But I should be the one thanking you– I, I feel like…I would have gone through life half-asleep, if it hadn't been for you."
Nyx frowned a little bit. "I would have lived the rest of my life actually asleep, most likely. So…" He made a face. "Besides. I didn't do anything. You did." He shrugged, linking his fingers together in his lap and studying Jude.
"I guess you're right," He lightly shrugged, stretching his arms behind him, supporting his torso, his attention still on Nyx. "But maybe…" Jude spoke, reminiscing last night's dance and their haunting kiss, "We woke each other up.."
Nyx took a deep breath, mind also darting back to the dance, and the kiss, and the…the feelings that had awoken because of it. Feelings he wasn't sure he wanted. "Yes, maybe." he replied after a moment. He kept looking over at Jude, a lock of black hair falling onto his forehead and brushing against his eyebrows. The hair was still alive, still a part of him, still growing, and he knew it had grown since last year. When he had been put under, it had been stubble, barely there. Now it was longer, though not too long.
The air- the canvas, Jude had thought, was now coloured with feelings on tension- a twisting, choking shade of burgundy. Regret, light blue, maybe, and longing- a greying pink dancing circles around the two of them, begging to be released from its aching tone. How he wished he could feel Nyx's midnight locks in a soft touch– or a handful, maybe. Maybe, Jude asked himself, eyes darting around Nyx's features, He felt the same way. Maybe. No
He cleared his throat, "So, what do you want to see today?"
Nyx took a deep breath. "I uhm…I don't know." he replied slowly, looking at Jude. He wanted to go outside again. Whatever they did, he wanted it to be outside, so he could see the sun and the clouds and that blue, blue sky again. He glanced at the door, then back at Jude again. His blue eyes were alight.
"Outside?" Jude asked, watching as Nyx's eyes flickered to the door. "Yeah, let's go, we should leave the laptop, but I have a few books in my car." He thought back to his car, stuffed with miscellaneous things from all over the place.
"It's nice weather outside– sunny."
Nyx smiled happily, and stood up. "Alright." he replied, bouncing on his heels a little, eager to get outside and feel the sun again. "Can I go outside and wait for you?" he asked, glancing from Jude, to the door, and back. "Please?" his blue eyes were wide and happy and eager, almost child-like in his excitement.
"Yeah, go ahead, I'll just finish this up really quick," Jude said, pushing away from the feelings of that night.
"Oh–and while you're out there," He said, rifling out his car keys and handing them to Nyx, "The books are in the trunk If you like." Every time Nyx smiled like that, Jude felt a little bit happier.
Nyx took the keys. "Alright. Thank you." he said. He left the room at a pace that was almost a jog, and opened up the trunk, getting the books out. He let out a happy, contented sigh, putting them down, then tipping his face back to the morning sun. He smiled again.
Jude quickly wrapped up the server page, making sure it would remain secure and kept working while they were out. He bent down to the clear box-like container in which the skin was being made. It was almost terrifying–how real it looked. Jude hummed as he put the laptop, still running to the side and skipped aimlessly across the marble floors to the door.
Nyx closed his eyes, face still tipped to the sun. He sat down cross legged, letting out a contented sigh. He loved this. Loved the feeling of the sun on his skin, of that warm brightness bathing his body.
(oof sorry im late ive been stackin firewood.)
Jude smiled to himself at the sight of Nyx's happy expression; careless, dreamlike, and hazy from the sun's warmth, like a flower, he thought. He wished he could take a photo, though he didn't have his phone. It gave him an idea, though. Tomorrow, he'd bring paints and canvasses- so they could paint something together. Then, maybe, he could paint his feelings without telling them. The longing; greying pink, the regret; light blue, the tension; red. Anything to get it out.
(it's fine! I'm not going to be super active tonight tho)
Nyx glanced up as Jude came out, a quick smile darting over his face. "Hi." He greeted, head still tipped back to the sun. Almost exactly like a sunflower, if he was being compared to one. Sunflowers, after all, tracked the sun across the sky.
