"Yeah." His lip twitched again, and he turned around before he could smile more, approaching the sink.
"Yeah." His lip twitched again, and he turned around before he could smile more, approaching the sink.
Kyle let out a quiet giggle and followed him to the sink. He added some more soap to the water to make it bubble but might have added a little too much.
“Gah—“ Marius reached for another plate, instead coming up with a handful of bubbles.
“Sorry, I swear I didn’t do that on purpose.” Kyle held back a small laugh.
“Right, you need to learn how to lie better,” Marius grumbled, but it was good-natured.
Kyle gasped dramatically, "Me? Lie? How dare you accuse me of something so outrageous!"
He snorted, lifting his soapy hand to his face and blowing the bubbles forcefully towards Kaye. "Try again."
"You did not just do that!" Kyle wiped the bubbles away and blew some back.
Marius sneezed loudly, trying and failing to combat the bubbles that had been sent his way. “Kyle!!”
"You started it, cutie!" Kyle protested, letting out a laugh.
Marius stopped where he stood, arms hanging in the air as if still batting away the floating clouds of foam that had mostly dissipated by now. He stared owlishly at Kyle for a moment, before unfreezing and shaking himself free of the last few bubbles. "Did not." It was meant to come out as a good-natured grumble– or at least, the closest thing he could manage in his current state– but it came out sounding more… perplexed.
"Mhm, so you're telling me I blew bubbles at you first?" Kyle raised an eyebrow with and crossed his arms. He knew what he said, and knew he probably shouldn't have said it but it slipped and there was nothing he could do it fix that now.
Marius blinked, tilted his head. "…. Yeah, didn't you?" he asked, brows drawing together again.
"Nope, that was alllll you." Kyle grinned, and turned back to the bubbly water with a small laugh.
He let out a small groan, turning back to the task at hand. “Just give me plates to dry, Kyle. And— small question. Ah, am I allowed to go home tonight?”
Kyle took a moment before he responded, handing him a freshly cleaned plate, "Yes, if you promise not to do anything stupid but you can stay here if you want." Even though he really didn't want Marius to go, he had said he was only going to keep him here for one night so he had to follow through with that promise.
Marius went silent, electing to make no comment except a quiet “Thank you.”
"Don't thank me. I promised something so I have to go through with it." Kyle turned his attention back to the dishes.
"Ah. Right. Sorry." Great job, idiot, he told himself sharply, You ruined the mood. Marius kept his eyes trained on the sink.
"No need to be sorry." Kyle muttered, handing him the last couple pieces of cutlery.
They finished clearing up, and Marius had no idea what to say or do next. He kept silent, hoping that Kyle would offer up a suggestion.
"Wanna go for a walk or something?" Kyle asked, drying his hands on a tea towel.
Marius nodded twice, grateful for the suggestion. "Yeah. Good idea. "
"Do you want to stop by your place to change?" Kyle asked, leaning against the counter.
Marius hesitated, the thought of Kyle seeing his place sending a wave of anxiety through him, but nodded. “If that’s okay.”
