"I've been reading articles that peddle fear"
"Of overpopulation, climate change, the end is"
"near near near"
"or so i hear.''
"Thought the singularity can make me scream"
"I bet your clarity could turn my nightmares into"
"dreams dreams dreams"
"and mend the seams"
"*i dont want this to end before it ever begins!"
He prended to play air guitar jumping around and just messing around, He grabbed alisters hand and pulled him in dancing with him.
"When a life of optimism seems in vain"
"You are the only one I know who keeps me feeling"
"sane, sane sane"
"oh what a change."
"if our future holds a mass catastrophie"
"think I'll want someone who's right there holding hands with"
"me"
"That's…" Ignis could no longer ignore it since Kali could see it too, "Ignatius…Fire….in mortal form."
"Think he may want to talk to you? can he even see us?" she mostly whispered.
His heartbeat shot through the roof, and a small gasp came out of him as Evan pulled him into the dance. Alister stiffly moved with him, unsure of what else to do.
Noel giggled as they danced and sang, her claps echoing around the temple.
To his surprise, as the song came to an end, Alister found himself grinning. Fittingly, the song ended with them holding hands, standing evenly next to each other.
“I- um, that was… that was fun.” Alister stuttered.
A few feet away, Noel had stopped clapping, and was staring intensely at the door.
Ignis pulled away from Kali. Ignatius just seemed sad as he sat down, "I think it's just a memory. It doesn't make sense. How did he get in?" Ignis could remember this moment. How Fire came here and thought of how he ended Darkness's life. She wasn't able to visit her own temple.
"I knew you would enjoy it, im glad you did too." he blushed a little at the hand holding, "sometimes you just move without thinking." he noticed noel had stopped clapping and saw her staring at the door. "Something wrong noel-"
kali pulled away as well staring at the figure, until she fell wetness on her feet. "i don't know i thought this place was sealed pretty tight." she frowned, she crouched down and touched the area around her feet. Water? why was there water?
“Are you hearing what they’re saying?” She muttered, not looking at them. “Somehow, they’re seeing a memory… of Fire? Or Ignatius? He makes it sound like they’re the same person.”
Alister’s grin dropped a little. He didn’t say anything, trying to listen.
he dropped his smile as well listening in as well. "I hear sloshing of water…." he mumbled.
“Me too,” Alister felt the strange feeling return; he seemed to have forgotten about it when they were singing.
“Fire and water in the house of Darkness…” Noel chuckled mirthlessly. “An interesting combination, to be sure.”
he started to bounce his leg again, as negtaive thoughts returned. he didn't stay them ouloud but they were still there
“I don’t hear them calling for help…” Alister tried to listen more, but he was also highly aware that he and Evan hadn’t stopped holding hands. Darn hand holding… why am I not letting go then?
Noel’s thoughts drifted. Her gaze on the door dulled; she wasn’t really seeing the door at this point. Kali and Evan have the same last name… the way Kali reacted when they first met and at the building…
“Hey guys, do you mind if I talk about Kali for a minute?” She moved her gaze to Alister. “There were a couple of things I forgot to discuss with you about her.”
Evan turned back towards noel, he didn't let go of Alister's hand. He kinda liked the way it felt to hold someone's hand.
"Well as long as you don't mind my being here then I think it's okay." He smiled softly at noel.
“Well, I don’t, considering the whole situation about you guys having the last name,” she returned the smile, her lips quirking up a bit.
“Ah, right…” her brother scratched his head. “What’s up about that? You guys didn’t seem to know each other when you first met.”
"honestly, I mean I guess she looks familar but other than that I have never seen her. I wasn't even with biological dad for most of my life." He sighed putting his hand that wasn't holding Alister's to his neck and turning to look at the door. "I have vague memories of my biological parents, they gave me up for foster when I was younger, but from what I can remember of my bio dad, she kinda looks like him." He looked back at them.
“Ah.” Noel put her hands in her pockets. “You might have had the same dad. And you’re aren’t the same type of elemental like me and Ali, so I’d guess you’re half-siblings.”
Somehow, Alister just now realized his ball of light went out. He let go of Evan’s hand. As he started making another one, thoughts ran through his head. They’re siblings? Why now did they just find each other? Why was Evan given over to foster care, while Kali supposedly stayed with her dad?
(oh Alister you have no idea)
"half siblings? Meaning we don't have the same mom?…" Well that just raised even more questions, he barely noticed the light went out and then saw that Alister had dropped his hand to make a new one and this time it didn't feel like rejection. It was necessary and he didn't want to be too clingy anyway. Not that they were a thing or anything.
“Most likely, but who knows, I could be completely misunderstanding the situation.” Noel shrugged. She glanced at her brother. “Hey Ali, you need help?”
“Oh no, it’s fine,” he replied, though his voice was uncertain. “It just feels like it got darker all of a sudden.”
He finished, bringing the ball of light into one hand. It seemed glow dimmer than the last one.
"it got darker…." He frowned looking around, he could barely see the shine of the water fall or even tell it was there. The water had turned dark, not even blue dark. Like something seeped into it. he walked over to the water, putting his hand in it and bringing it close to his face. It was almost blackish oil.
"Hey Ali can you bring the light over here?" He made sure his voice was a bit louder since it was a bit darker. "shine it on this water."
Ignis watched as the illusion faded out as the room began to shift back to the present. Ignis could feel the water under his feet, "Kali, what do you make of this?"
“Well, the sun’s probably setting right now.” Noel offered. She inched closer to where Evan was, suddenly stiff in her movement.
Alister brought the ball of light over to the water, giving it and the boys’ faces an orange-red glow.
"Well i can tell the water is coming from he sealed door but its not normal water. Its laced with something, i don't know what but it almost seems like well darkness. It could also be oil though, try not to light it on fire just incase?" she turned to look at the door, the water at kali's ankles.
The water didnt reflect the orange red glow, it was just black, darkness seeming to swallow the light whole. "Thats….' he couldn't finish his sentence, he didn't know how too. he just knew something was wrong, he felt a tinybit of fear creep in. he scooped a handful of the pitch black water and i know its stupid, he drank some. Immeditately coughing it up and spiting it out. he wiped his mouth. "That is not water." he stood up and walked over to the door. inspecting it.
