(haha, so, what could be a couple options for punishments like this, besides, obviously, death?)
(life sentence, forced labor, gladiator duel, banishment, killing of a fellow rebel, stuff like that)
(I vote gladiator duel!!)
(To the death? Omg :0)
(idk maybe our characters at first say its to the death but then pull him out bc compassion lol)
(I don't want Kodiak to dieee lol)
Rowan listened quietly from her cell which was hardly a room over. She felt helpless, unable to move. And at the moment, unable to speak. They're gonna kill Kodiak. She knew there was nothing she could do physically to stop them from harming him, but she did get an idea. I can't help the rebellion in any real way now. But if I can somehow switch places with Kodiak… Rowan's mind was a muddled mess from the morphine, but she didn't have much of a choice. I have to find a way.
"Kodiak," Armand spoke quietly, "I don't agree with the killing of all of these people. I wish these types of decisions were up to me or Nyir. We'll send this in and tell you the verdict when we get word." He had Kodiak escorted out, before the man locked his door, his heart pounding, breathing suddenly hard. He was exhausted, and stressed. Why couldn't this whole thing be over? He caught his breath.
"Armand?" Rowan called out quietly. She wasn't even sure if he could hear her. She tapped her fingers anxiously on the chair she'd been set into. Maybe I can get up? No, wait. There's a IV. But I could pull it out… Rowan thought to herself.
It was quiet in the room, so unbearably quiet. "Armand?" he heard. Oh! Yes, Rowan. What did she need? "Is everything okay?" He unlocked the door and stepped inside, looking tired.
Yuki punched at the metal wall that had suddenly appeared before her. The metal dented, but didn’t bust. She would have to punch harder. She punched the metal wall using a lot of strength. There was a loud bang. Yuki had busted a hole in the wall. She couldn’t get out of it yet, so she continued to punch the wall. The sound of her fist to metal echoed in the quiet room. As she punched the wall she thought about how she would give her life to kill President Harris.
"I was wondering um, you know. About my leg?" Rowan said meekly gesturing to the mass of gauze and bandages covering her butchered skin. She wanted to ask about Kodiak, but Armand looked drained and worn out. Rowan decided not to push him.
"We are doing that now." He sighed, moving the chair back to the OR. "I have your replacement in the cooler, it is very strong and resilient, and should take nicely to your cells. Soon, we are also going to be doing various testing phases for improvements we make to your physical body." He looked at the floor, he didn't like how his own words sounded. "Do you have a question?" He noticed her expression.
Yuki heard what Armand had said to Rowan. “You better not hurt her!”, she yelled at the top of her lungs. Maybe he had heard her. “And by the way, you’re never going to stop me! I’ll break through anything you place before me!”
"What do you mean by improvements?" Rowan asked cautiously, trying not to let fear slip into her tone. She eyed Armand nervously, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. Suddenly she heard Yuki's voice. "Yuki?!" Rowan called back in response. "Where did you put Yuki and Petree? Are they all right?" She asked frantically, her healthy leg bouncing with nervousness.
Yuki contued to punch the metal. She was making progress with the metal wall. “I will never be silenced”, she yelled as she made the final punch. She had gotten past the wall. Her knuckles were stained red and sweat beaded on her forehead. “Wanna see more!?”, she called out.
"Meaning," he started, clearing his throat and attempting a smile, "You suggest things you'd like to improve about yourself that alone you couldn't change, and I will work to make it happen." he smiled proudly. "These eyes of mine were something I entirely designed, that Harrison made possible with laboratories of her own, after I was blinded. We worked together, and she found a surgeon willing to replace my useless eyes." He looked at Rowan. "She took in a monster like me. I was bald, y'know?" He laughed. His hair had at least grown back, he used it to cover the scars most of the time.
Armand turned to Yuki, seriously. "Can you let me do my job? This girl needs a new chunk of leg. Would you rather she never walk again?" he looked at her sternly. "Leave, if you're going to, but don't pick fights with the doctors." He wasn't going to fight the girl.
Rowan looked conflicted. "I just want my leg fixed." She said carefully, staring directly at Armand. She looked past him at Yuki with fear in her eyes. You have to get out of here! Get Petree and go! I'm no use to the rebellion now! She screamed in her head, hoping somehow Yuki would understand and run. Get Kodiak and Petree! Come on, Yuki!
“I’d rather you not hurt her! I’m not leaving without her!” Yuki opened the door and walked into the room containing Rowan and Armand. “President Harris and her followers are evil.”
"President Harris saved my life," Armand narrowed his eyes. "I'm fixing her leg," his eyebrows crossed. "You will have to leave without her, it will take you too long to find another doctor with the same capability. Out, so I may get to work. Someone else will deal with you out there." He rolled his sleeves up, walking straight up to the strong woman, turning her away. She wouldn't be able to find Kodiak; he was transferred away from the center to be held until the verdict came back. Although he didn't know how he felt about her taking Petree as well, he'd worked so hard with her. The countless guards around the center would undoubtedly subdue her until someone more cabable came around.
“They saved you because you weren’t a freak. They saved you because they wanted to use you. Meanwhile, they ruined my life. I was very young when I was captured, tortured, imprisoned for doing nothing. I was very young when I won the battle in the arena that kept me from being killed on the spot. You think they are good because they saved you, but you will never know what it is like to be one of us.”, Yuki sighed. She would cry, but she didn’t have any tears left after that traumatic experience.
"Look at me." nearly the entirety of his face was scarred across, his hair was white and broken, and his body seemed almost crooked in places. "I was burned alive. Tortured. Mocked as I screamed. You're right, rebel, your kind take no hostages, do they?" He cast a glare right back at the strong female. "I don't agree with everything, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I owe her my loyalty." he didn't have time for this. He turned back to Rowan, setting up an oxygen mask.
"Yuki…" Rowan gave her a sympathetic look. She started to get out of the chair till she accidentally tugged at her IV wire, a reminder she couldn't walk. She looked between the two of them. "You have to go without me. I'll slow you down. I'm useless without my leg." Rowan sighed, her voice shaking. She watched Armand set up the oxygen mask, starting to get nervous. "You have to go. He's probably called reinforcements on you already." She looked away, unable to face Yuki's cold eyes.
“I owe my life to killing President Harris!”, she screamed. “You think you society is so perfect! But it isn’t!” She ripped of her jacket, showing many cuts and scars. Her wrists had cuts up them from slitting them open. Her t-shirt read rebel, which was one of the many things scribbled in marker. Yuki pounded her fists on the table. “What did we all do to deserve this?” Her face softened a little. “Heal her.”, Yuki said. She walked out of the room, leaving her jacket on the ground.
