“Heating potion!? What will it do to her!?”, Yuki yelled to anyone who could answer.
“Heating potion!? What will it do to her!?”, Yuki yelled to anyone who could answer.
Dr. Watt returned to his office, a small styro-foam box in his hands, nearly dropping it when he saw the three girls panicking when he arrived, Rowan on the runaway's back. What was going on? The wall to his cells were broken. Then he noticed Rowan's expression, and pained sounds. "Wha-what did you do to her? What's going on??" Armand angrily approached the girls and pulled Rowan off of Yuki's back before any thoughts or actions, quickly setting her into a patient chair and picking up a vial quickly from the shelves and forcing the contents down Rowan's throat. The fever finally went down. "Oh thank gods.. What the Hell is going on in here??" He turned to the destructive girls in his office.
Rowan let out a relieved sigh, her breathing starting to even out again. Looking up warily, she saw Armand in front of her, but his back was turned. He seemed to be glaring at Yuki and Petree. So we didn't make it out… Rowan noted silently. "Can I have some water?" She croaked, her voice hoarse. Rowan' throat felt dry, like it was burning. It hurt to speak.
Nyir burst into the room, her eyes narrowed. "What the hell is going on here? Was there an attempted escape?"
He snapped back at the girl, nearly yelling at her before he realised she couldn't have really done much in the process. He sighed and quickly moved to a small refrigerator, pulling out a water, handing it to her, after screwing off the cap. "You nearly reached boiling point.. Were you trying to get yourself killed?" he scratched at his hands, his yellow eyes scanning her over, looking to her leg to see if it had started bleeding again.
"I didn't mean to." Rowan protested quietly. She gratefully accepted the water and was relieved as the cool liquid soothed her throat. As soon as Nyir came in, Rowan tensed up. She quieted down and watched her anxiously.
"What the hell?" Nyir demanded, her gaze crawling over Petree and Yuki. She strode over and grabbed Petree around the collar, her face inches away. "Petree, everyone's favorite rebel thief," she spat.
"Oh dear me thank you for coming in Nyir!" Armand sighed deeply, "That girl who escaped earlier broke in," He pulled a receiver from his pocket, "I need a suppression squad to wing 3-5A." Nearly immediately the rushed footsteps could be heard, while Armand engaged the office computer's self repair ability. "I also desperately need to talk to you after this,"
Nyir nodded, dropping Petree and restraining her wrists with the restraints that hung from her belt. She shoved her away and turned to Armand. "I've got to talk to you, too. Regarding something kind of sensitive." Her face twitched, but otherwise she was outwardly calm. She looked down the hall for the backup she knew must be on its way.
(Yeaagghghh I don't wanna godmod but I don't think Yuki and Petree's players are here and I don't wanna staahhp X'C)
(yeah ikr, I feel like i'm kinda literally just throwing their characters around without them doing anything about it lol. I guess we can have the backup restrain them and keep them in the same room and our characters can go and talk)
Rowan shot a panicked look at Yuki and Petree, but the two already seemed to be analysing their surroundings for escape routes. Meanwhile Rowan's leg was getting increasingly painful to deal with. At the moment she was clenching her teeth shut, trying to withhold the pained whimper she'd tried to swallow. Footsteps were rushing down the hall and Petree was being apprehended. Time was running out for Yuki, but Rowan was completely helpless. All she could do was hope that Yuki escaped and that the soldiers didn't jostle her leg at all.
Armand sighed, he'd really rather not having all of that negative commotion storming into his sanctuary but it seemed this situation couldn't be helped. That Yuki was strong, he thought to himself, just as the soldiers came in. There were five. Armand noticed Rowan's grimace, pulling her back to the cell that was being prepared but had no way yet of locking, and reconnected her IV. "Leave her." He ordered them, "Your Captain and I must speak, try not to kill anyone." He pointed a serious look to them all, nodding to Nyir. "If you please, good friend." As the soldiers filed in, he waited for her to pass through the door.
Nyir led Armand down the hall, her shoulders taut. When they got far enough away for her liking, she turned about to face him, her mouth drawn. She felt uncomfortable. She was never one to compromise, but today… She shook her head. "We need to talk about Kodiak," she said, her voice static-y. "He's most likely a traitor, but I…I don't want him to…" She took a deep breath, and then sighed out, "I don't want him caught."
Armand's shoulders slumped. He knew how Nyir was feeling. He had been suspicious of Kodiak for some time, as rebels seemed to regularly escape under squads with him among the ranks, and something was off about the man when he saw him outside of the center. "When I brought Rowan into my office, the first name from her mouth was.. 'Kodiak'. I, Nyir look, I know you want to believe he's with us, but I don't think we can support him any longer." He sighed, bringing a shaking hand to his friend's shoulder.
Nyir paused. The rebellion was evil. She knew that. They killed her husband, destroyed her home, disrupted the peace…but Kodiak had always seemed like a friend. Someone who wouldn't back down when Nyir was being stubborn, wouldn't bow his head when she yelled. Her husband Yuu'mi's face flashed across her mind. No. The rebellion had to be brought down. "You're right, Armand," she said simply, her hands tightening into fists. "We've got to take him down."
"And no one needs to die, Nyir. I feel bad enough as is putting these people through what it takes for genetics to improve them to the expected level. It's going to be painful for Rowan, and Petree hates me for what I've done to her. But the more I do it, the more numb I feel about it and the less I'm feeling empathy inside me." he touched the burn across his face, shaking his friend. "We.. It will be okay. He may.. someday, be ready. But he isn't yet."
(This has turned from evil vs. good into just two neutral parties just trying to prove they're right)
"You're right, again," she exhaled. She suddenly looked tired and aged. Her hands fell limply to her sides. "We've got to focus on the bigger picture. Squelching the rebellion." Her eyes grew dark. "Whatever the cost."
Armand needed to feel something different than all this struggle, all the hateful eyes, the hurt looks. He needed his friend. And it had been long since the two had been able to talk. He moved his arm, and reached out to hug her, wrapping his arms around her neck and squeezing her tight. "Sorry, I know you don't like it when I'm soft," he pressed his face into her. "Thought we could both use a hug. I know it's a healthy interaction."
Nyir tensed up for a moment. Usually she hated contact of any sort. But not today. She felt herself relax into his arms as she exhaled. "Whatever, you sap," she mumbled fondly.
He smiled a little, chuckling at her as he pulled his arms back. "So.. What are you going to do?" he asked, the happiness dampened. "What will I need to do?"
"Well the answer's simple." Nyir drew in a deep breath through her nose, steadying herself. "we've got to put Kodiak under the truth serum and have him give a recorded confession."
"Be prepared for twisted truths.. Make sure you have the right questions prepared." he would think of a few himself, already knowing one of the questions he'd need to ask. He started for the room again, pushing past the soldiers, the room now nearly completely repaired, the room's repair drones hanging from the ceiling welding pieces back together and materializing destroyed foundations. "Rowan, how are you feeling, not too hot any longer?" He didn't pay attention to much else, he wasn't strong enough to assist in detaining the rebels, his body couldn't keep up engaged in battle.
Rowan nodded, but she was watching her surroundings with concern. "Where are Petree and Yuki?" She asked. She took a deep breath, her leg was sending searing pain up her spine and throughout her body. The IV had helped a little, but not nearly enough.
(I think Ima go to bed and hopefully by tomorrow Kodiak will be back and we can interrogate him)
