Rylan tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled at Santiago. She tried to think of something to say, but they fell into a comfortable silence.

“I regret not packing food,” Santiago said softly and chuckled lightly.

"It's fine. We were on a bit of a. . . schedule." She murmured, a small grin playing on her lips.

“Yeah, I suppose so,” Santiago said, matching her smile. “Maybe we can text or call Flynn and ask for her to bring us some.”

She nodded and continued to study Santiago. "You know, you're very attractive." Rylan replied, grinning.

Santiago chuckled softly. “Well, thank you very much. You’re absolutely stunning as well,” He said, winking at her.

Rylan couldn't help the heat rushing to her cheeks. "Don't worry, I know." She replied jokingly, returning the wink.

Santiago laughed. “Humble, too? Compañera, what am I going to do with you?”

She laughed and tilted her head to the side. "I don't know, what are you going to do?"

“Mm, we’ll see,” Santiago said in a joking tone, flashing a sly grin.

She laughed and matched his grin. "You're hilarious."

“Thank you, I’ve been told that I am enjoyable in that sense,” Santiago said, rolling onto his side to face her in a more comfortable position.

"I bet a lot of people have told you that." She smiled, tucking her hair behind her ears. "I've been told by boys that I'm. . . unnerving."

“They are just intimidated is all. They are obviously not as comfortable around you as I am,” Santiago quipped, smiling softly now.

"Not as comfortable?" She smiled, tilting her head to the side. "And why are you more comfortable around me. . .?"

“Oh gosh, what is this, Twenty Questions?” Santiago asked jokingly. “You just have an easy going vibe, and it’s almost relaxing.”

"Maybe this is Twenty Questions," She shrugged, grinning. "After all, I haven't known you for a long time."

“Yeah, I suppose your right,” Santiago said slowly. “I already feel like I know so much about you, just from what you’ve said about your family, and from what I’ve learned at the academy.”

She nodded. "I feel like I know you too. When you were in the academy, college, did you guys learn about me?"

“Mhm.” Santiago nodded. “We learned about a lot of the ‘Still-at-large’ criminals in the early years. Not exactly the most interesting subject at the time to younger me.”

"Huh," Rylan said, thinking about people talking about her in school. "What did they teach you?"

“Crimes they’ve committed, what they look like, where they frequent, and what to do if you spot one,” Santiago explained, slowly trailing off.

She nodded slowly. "What information did they tell you about me?"

“That you’re a dangerous criminal and we should report to Alec immediately if we see you,” Santiago said, shrugging.

"Well, you didn't follow those rules." Rylan replied, giving him a crooked grin.
