(Same… semester change has completely ruined when I’ll be able come online)
“Yeah, I can easily take quite a few of my potions and such with us, weapons too.” She flipped the dagger she was holding.
Bernon pushed himself up out of his chair and paced around the room. "It's too bad we can't take some of this bigger stuff, like the cooking stand. My kit's a one-person deal, otherwise I'd just make soup for us while we're on the road. We'll have to be inventive, I guess. Gotta travel light."
“I wonder if there is a spell to shrink things…” She shrugged and watched Bernon pace, “Probably not, I’ve never heard of one.”
"Your guess is as good as mine on that one. Oh well, knowing how to prioritize when packing is a valuable skill. Knife, tarp, rope, dried food, water, warm clothes, something to make fire with, first-aid kit, and a compass–those are the things I always carry with me, even if I have nothing else. The extras I have upstairs are luxury items in comparison. Ever traveled cross-country before?"
Tanrial shook her head, “I‘ve never been far from this area.”
"Well….it's an experience. A little rough at first, but you'll get used to it. The main thing is to stay friendly with any locals you come across and keep careful track of what you have versus what you need. I'll show you the ropes as we go."
(Okay, gotta head out ^^ Seeya tomorrow!)
“Alright, sounds good.”
(Seeya tomorrow!)
Bernon sat back down to catch his breath, wincing just slightly. "Well, at least we have the evening to rest up and prepare. I have an old map upstairs, so when Mike gets back we can discuss our route a bit."
(I might not be here at the normal time, but I'll return soon after)
“I’ll have to look through my potions then… and the basement.” She sighed and flung the dagger at the wall above the fire place.
(Okie)
"This place has a basement? That's cool, I didn't know–"
At that moment the door opened and Mike came in. He had a backpack with him, and seemed slightly out of breath. More importantly, there was blood on his coat. A lot of it.
He closed the door and locked it, dropping his pack in the corner. "Got attacked," he said shortly. "There are people watching the house."
“I said they never give up a hunt…” She moved to the window, “How far way are they?” She turned back to Mike.
"The closest one's about five hundred feet. I took care of him though. Most are a bit farther out. I think they're just making sure we don't go anywhere." He wrung the blood out of his coat into the fire, making it hiss and spit. "We might have to fight our way out in the morning."
Tanrial moved away from the window, “Looks like it. We never should have gone, it’d made everything worse…” She slumped down in the chair.
"We had to," Bernon pointed out. "We wouldn't have an exact copy of the machine otherwise. Anyway, there's no point regretting it now. We'll just have to be extra determined when we leave."
“We’ll have to kill them, they won’t stop following otherwise…” She kept her gave on the fire burning in front if them.
Bernon looked like he was going to object, but Mike interrupted him. "Does it take something special to fight these guys? I mean, I just killed one, but do they have any specific tactics or weapons we should watch out for?"
“No, just… kill them anyway you can but… always protect your right side, they always aim there,” She sighed, “Some might use magic but they were never hired for there magic skills. At worst it will be a weak shield.”
"All right, got it." Mike hung up his coat to dry and opened up his pack. "Where's a good spot for me to sleep? I'm fine with anything."
(brb, having supper)
Tanrial waved her hand and a small bed appeared. “I should become an interior decorator.”
Mike blinked. "Thanks." He went over and set his bag down at the foot of the bed. "It's….been a long time since I slept in a real bed." He seemed hesitant all of a sudden, unsure what to say. "I guess I'll……get unpacked then."
“Go ahead..” She shrugged and stood up, picking the dagger out of the wall.
Bernon nodded, watching Mike carefully. "Yeah, do that. Whatcha got in that bag of yours?"
Mike gave him a funny look. "…None of your business."
"Really?" Bernon glanced at the ceiling casually. "On an unrelated note, Tanrial mentioned that she was missing some potions after you left….know anything about that?"
Mike stared at him, then at Tanrial. "Was that accusation supposed to be subtle? Because it wasn't."
