Mike looked over briskly. "Is it done?"
Mike looked over briskly. "Is it done?"
Tanrial nodded, said her thanks to the man and walked out with Bernon, “Come on, we’ve been here to long already.”
They both followed her, keeping close. Bernon carried the replacement, carefully tucking it in his backpack. Mike kept his hand near his knife, but had little intention of pulling it out if there was a fight. He didn't usually need a knife.
Tanrial noticed the guard patrol drawing nearer and detoured through a side street to avoid them.
Bernon resisted the urge to look behind them. "Let's hurry. I feel like our time is running out."
“I knew those bastards should alert Father even with my orders. The entrances is up ahead, once I shift, Mike you need to get on fast.”
"Got it," Mike said, his eyes darting around.
The entrance drew closer and Tanrial sprinted towards the light, knocking the guards of their feet and she shifted quickly.
Mike caught up to her and vaulted onto her back, fending off a guard with a hard kick. Bernon leapt directly into the shift, and roared to ward off their pursuers, which was difficult with a bag clenched in his teeth. Let's go! We've got a head start!
(brb, having supper right quick)
She nodded and ran, faster then she ever had before in this form. Probably because fear was right at her tail. She weaved through tress, trying to avoid as many arrows as she could.
Mike stayed as low as he could, making himself a smaller target. Bernon became something like a battering ram as he crashed through the undergrowth, settling into a ground-eating run.
The arrows soon lessened, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be careful. Tanrial slowed down enough that she could survey the area. She couldn’t see anyone and the clearing was just up ahead.
Mike scanned the woods all around, still wary of followers. "If we're heading back to your place, let's take a more roundabout path in case we're being watched."
Tanrial grunted her approval and took, a sharp right turn, heading towards the village.
After a minute, Bernon began to lag behind. Tanrial….I got hit, I got nicked in my shoulder back there. I gotta take a breather. Don't worry, I'll catch up to you.
Tanrial stopped and glanced back Are you sure? She asked, even through the mind connection she still sounded worried.
He ground to a halt next to her and turned so she could see. A horizontal gash cut through his fur, just behind his throat. It looked fairly deep, and was already bleeding quite a bit. It's not serious, he tried to say, but his ears were pinned back and he wasn't putting any weight on that leg. I'll just follow along behind you guys. Here, take my bag, you don't want to lose the replacement machine. He dropped it at Tanrial's feet and nudged it forward.
Mike read the situation. "If he says he's fine, he's fine. We need to get out of here, fast."
If you’re really sure she picked up the bag in her mouth, Meet back at the house in ten minutes, alright? She turned back around and ran the way she was headed.
Bernon watched them go, then started off in a slightly different direction, determined to join them as quickly as he could.
Mike slung the backpack over his shoulder and did the buckles with his free hand. "If he doesn't show up when we get there, what are you gonna do?"
Look for him, go back to the city see if they have him She slowed down just a little.
"Pretty big risk for a guy you hardly know. He gave us what we needed, and if he can't take care of himself, then he's only going to drag us down."
(I gotta go, seeya tomorrow ^^)
I don’t care. I said I’d help him master his powers and keep an eye on him for the Mother and that’s what I’m going to do She started to walk, dodging the trees.
(See ya tomorrow!)
"The Mother? Who is she?"
Tanrial mentally rolled her eyes, It’s a long story. Eyvn legend says she’s been around for centuries, helping people figure out their powers, like she did with Bernon. Other people says she’s a goddess but I doubt it
