Tanrial nodded, “I will. Thank you again.” She smiled back, turning away and returning to her seat across from Mike with their tea.

"You know, we never did find a caravan to tag along with," Mike remarked as he accepted his own cup. "But I guess there's still a chance we'll find one along the way. Or a convoy of truckers, I hear there's still some of those left where the roads are good enough."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial shrugged a shoulder, leaning back in her chair as she took her cup with both hands, "If we follow a main road or what is left of a main road we might find someone to catch a ride with. Or a used trading route."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"True. If we do that, we'll have to be careful though, since those roads tend to be patrolled by bandits more heavily. It might be safer and easier to stick to the woods mostly, at least until we reach the Mississippi. The terrain gets much safer and more open west of the river."

@ElderGod-Carrots

"More open to attacks, though. If anyone was to follow us out into the open there's more of an opportunity to be ambushed. But I guess it is safer then the roads," She sighed, "Damn, we have such a long road ahead of us, don't we?"

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Sure do. I don't want to make light of it either, because it really will be tough. The toughest thing we've done so far." He glanced out the window seriously. "But on the other hand, Bernon and I are both experienced travelers, and you're a skilled magic-user. And we've already proven what we can accomplish as a team. I think as long as we stick together and remember to use our heads, we'll make it to our destination eventually."

@ElderGod-Carrots

"I might be jinxing us by saying this but I'm pretty sure we might've gotten through the hardest part of the trip. Knock on wood," She sighed softly, knocking on the wooden table, "Guess we can just hope we don't run into Ryker or any more bandits."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Well…..if we do, at least we have more experience with them now. It's the stuff we haven't run into before that I'm worried about." He shook his head, finishing off his tea and setting the cup down. "But, enough worrying. We're as prepared as we can be, so we'll deal with whatever happens when it happens. In the meantime, we should probably get some rest."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial finished off her own with a yawn, nodding her agreement, “Suppose you’re right, we should sleep.”
(Sorry I had work today)

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Depends if you mean like with me me or my country with this whole corona thing)
Tanrial nodded, “Night Mike.” She stayed down in the bar for a little longer before she headed upstairs herself, heading straight to bed.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(Well, both I guess. Mostly you, though, how's your life going?)
The rest of the night passed peacefully. As the sun was just starting to peek over the horizon, Bernon gently knocked on Tanrial's door. "Tanrial, you awake yet? Mike says it's time to get ready."

@ElderGod-Carrots

(eh, up and down. Back at school so you know, that takes up a lot of time, and I'm back at work. Just tryna keep busy I guess)
Tanrial looked towards the door, already in the process of getting dressed, "Yeah, I'm up. I'll be downstairs in a minute."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(yeah, same here. A few places are starting to reopen in my state, but closings aren't officially over yet. Personally I'm not gonna meet up with my friends until I see whether there's gonna be a 'second wave' of any kind. Until then, just plodding along like usual. Hope you're not feeling too busy on your end, although I guess sometimes that can be a nice distraction ^^)
"Okie dokie. It's gonna be a beautiful day for traveling, I can tell already." Bernon sounded pretty cheerful through the door. "I'll go see if I can get us some breakfast for the road. You want anything?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Yeah. Can I ask what the cases have been like in your state? Like how common cases are and such because some people I've talked to have had it really bad. Whereas over here my state went two weeks with 0 cases and then had 1 so we're starting to go back to 'normal' now with this like.. three step program)
"Ah, maybe just some bread and water, thanks." Tanrial replied, slipping on her shoes, "I won't be very long, anyways so I'll meet you down there in two ticks."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(Our state's pretty isolated and has a relatively low population, so it's not like we're getting hit hard enough to really show up on the news much. I just looked up a map and it said there were 8,000 cases, 98 deaths in my state, and 121 cases, 1 death in my county. Around here I think policies have been pretty lax, though, so I'm sure we'll get more cases soon. Except for the news, and people wearing masks and most stores being closed, it sometimes feels like the virus doesn't even exist. (I mean I know it does, obviously, I don't want to get confused with the crazies who've been out protesting and stuff >.< ) I'm glad things have been calm and safe where you're at, that's good to hear.)
"Okay, sounds good." Bernon trotted off down the stairs, and a few moments later, Mike could be heard following at a slower pace. Outside on the beach, the village fishermen were already hard at work bringing in the days catch, helped by several of Ryker's older children.

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Damn, it’s so strange to see such high numbers when I’m not used to them. But I’m glad you’re doing okay <3 and turns out my state has had another 6 days with 0 cases thank gosh)
Tanrial was downstairs not long after Mike, bag and bow slung over her shoulder. She smiled at the two men as she took a seat, “Morning Mike.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(I'm glad (and not surprised) to hear your numbers are much lower than mine, I hope they stay that way ^^ This whole situation is still kind of a mess but I think we'll get through it)
Mike gave her a nod, sipping his tea. "Morning. Weather looks good today, so we should be able to travel pretty far before we have to set up camp for the night. I've been looking at the map and charted out the first leg of our journey already, so we don't have to worry about navigation right away, unless something unexpected happens."
"You're all business right out of the gate, as usual," Bernon said comfortably from his spot on Mike's other side. He smiled at Tanrial and offered her a plate. "Here's your breakfast. Sleep well?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Me too, although people are saying we won’t have a vaccine for another 1.5-2 years :/ )
Tanrial gladly took the plate with a smile, picking at the bread for a moment before she replied, “Yeah not too bad, just enjoying the last night in a proper bed before we have to sleep on the floor again for a while.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(Yeah….especially since there are new mutations showing up, which has to make things more difficult. Still, best to try and stay positive I think)
Bernon nodded. "Ah yeah, me too. Being on the road again after so long is gonna feel weird, but I guess we'll get used to it. At least our lodgings were more comfortable than camping. Did I ever tell you about the time I stayed with a homesteader family on their farm for a week? They had me sleeping in the shed with the most terrifying goats I've ever met. Now that was a time where I was glad to be leaving."

@ElderGod-Carrots

(True true)
Tanrial chuckled lightly, finishing off her bread before leaning back in her chair, “Sounds harsh. Although staying in a place with geese is worse then goats, let me tell you. They just try and peck your eyes out.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon winced. "Ouch. Geese are terrifying." Inhaling the rest of his breakfast, he looked around and saw that Mike and Tanrial had finished their food as well. "Oh….I guess we're all ready to go, then?"
Mike nodded briskly and stood up. "Ready as we'll ever be, I think. Let's head outside and I'll talk to you guys about the path we'll be taking."

@ElderGod-Carrots

"As organised as ever, I see Mike," Tanrial stood up, swinging her bag over her shoulder again, "At least someone out of the three of us is responsible."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Lucky I am, too, or we'd probably have a lot more trouble with the terrain ahead." Mike led them out of the tavern and onto the beach, where the cool morning air carried sounds of calling gulls and splashing oars from the lake on their right. Pulling out the map book, Mike opened to a page detailing the eastern region of the country and pointed out where they were on it. "So we're here, at the southern edge of this lake, and we need to get here, where apparently a bridge still stands across the Mississippi. It's just the first leg of our journey, but it's something to focus on for now. To do that, we have to get through a wilderness of warring bandits and unfriendly villages, not to mention the odd forest beast here and there." Flipping to the next page, which showed a more zoomed-in view of the bandit territories, he traced a narrow red line that led west through the woods. "This is a dried-up riverbed that marks the border between two rival gangs. It'll be dangerous to walk there, but technically we won't be trespassing on either territory, and we won't be taking the trade road like they expect us to. If we're quick and very quiet, I think we can make it through in a couple days. After that, we'll be in a much safer area and we'll be able to slow down a bit if we need to. Make sense?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial studied the map for a moment before she nodded, "Sounds easy enough. Apart from the whole bandit thing, but not like we didn't escape 'em before Mike. If it's the easiest option apart from the main roads and trading routes then let's get going."
