Bernon frowned, then snapped his fingers. "It won't be dark if I compress some lightning and bring it down with us! Here, Tanrial." He tossed her one of the balls of electricity he'd been juggling, then kept one for him self and dissolved the third. "I think if I keep it under control, it won't electrocute the water around it."
(gotta work all day today, won't be back until tomorrow)

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Okay, talk soon)
Tanrial only just managed to catch the lightening, holding it tightly in her hand, “Well let’s hope. If you do it’ll be like dunking a hair dryer into a bath and that’s never good.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"I'll be very careful," Bernon assured her. "In fact, I'll go first to see if this even works." Wading into the water with the lightning cradled in one hand, he sank below the surface, bringing a large bubble of air with him to keep around his head. At first he thought he might but a bubble around his hand as well, to keep the lightning dry, but that proved to mess with how the light diffracted and take too much concentration. Simply containing the and calming the lightning seemed to be the better idea.
All good down here, he transmitted to Tanrial. Tell Mike we'll meet him at the village boathouses, if he can make it that far.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial turned to Mike with a grin, "It works, I'm gonna go meet Bernon down there. Meet us at the boat houses if you can and we'll see you soon." She gave him a salute before she dove into the water, taking a pocket of air with her as she swam for Bernon.

The lake was green and cloudy in the shallows, and the silty ground was pretty much barren except for the odd stick, rock, or piece of trash. But very quickly the lake bottom dropped away into the depths and the water cleared somewhat, so they had plenty of room and chances to explore. Bernon kept swimming stright out from shore for a bit, watching Mike plough forward above them, then came to a halt and hovered in one place while he waited for Tanrial to catch up.
It's even harder than usual to stay below the surface with a bubble of air around my head, he said ruefully. Shall we dive now and see what's down there?

@ElderGod-Carrots

(They'll always be there… watching, waiting… ready to strike and the boom suddenly what was serious now sounds like a kids story shakes head how dare andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) do this to us)

Tanrial nodded, spinning around in her spot for a moment to take in what was around them as best she could without floating upwards, That sounds like a plan. I say we see if we can reach the bottom. Come on. She replied, diving towards the lakes floor.

Bernon followed, moving the water around him to propel himself forward faster. Very quickly it got dark, and the only light came from their small orbs of electricity. And still, they hadn't reached the bottom.
Bernon's thoughts were a tiny bit nervous through their mental link as he broke the silence. Sure would be funny if there was another monster even bigger than Fear down here, huh? Haha…..

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial glanced over to Bernon with a look that resembled one of a mum that had just found their child feeding the dog from the dinner table. The more you think that the more you're gonna jinx us Bernon. Be positive, maybe we'll find some gold or something.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon grinned abashedly. Right, we need to be brave here. My bad. He was about to swim further down, then paused and glanced at the surface far above. Actually, before we do this—I don't know about you, but my air supply's feeling a little stale. Hang on a sec. Focusing his energy, he stretched out his hand and pulled the water downwards, creating a small whirlpool that sucked a thin line of fresh air towards him. Bernon connected the line of air to the bubble around his head and took a deep breath. There we go. Now I can stay connected to the surface so I don't get carbon dioxide poisoning. Try it, Tanrial.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Hey that's… actually a smart idea. Tanrial tilted her head slightly, an impressed smile crossing her face as she did the same. She drew on the air, connecting the stream of fresh air to her own bubble and breathed in deeply.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon brightened proudly. Thanks! I read this book once about some underwater explorers and the picture had them in suits with round helmets that pulled air through a tube leading up to the surface. I was kind of inspired by that. Anyway, I'm ready now. Holding up his light, he forged downward, going cautiously in case something suddenly rose out of the depths to meet them.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Scuba gear, you're thinking of scuba gear. Tanrial followed suit, kicking hard to try and reach the lake floor faster. It felt more like the ocean then a lake, considering how deep it actually was.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Right, that's what they called it. Bernon swam a little further into the gloom, then suddenly stopped and held up his hand to halt Tanrial as well. Woah…. take a look at that.
Directly below them sat the ruins of a huge boat, definitely of military design. The rusty control tower was sitting at a crooked angle to the deck, as if it had been snapped almost in two before it sank. Bullets and missiles had heavily scarred the boat's metal armor, and any trace of an identifying flag or coat of arms was long gone.
This must have been from the old days, before everything went to pot, Bernon said in fascination. Or maybe during the time when everything went to pot, judging by all that damage. Looks like there was a battle on this lake once.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Damn. Tanrial took in the boat for a moment before she swam past Bernon's hand, beckoning him to follow as she headed to the main bulk of the boat. Let's see inside. And hope that there's nothing dangerous living in there.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon followed carefully, making sure his life-thread of surface air was plenty long enough. Yeah, here's hoping….and even if nothing is living in there, we should still be careful. If the boat is unstable, the whole thing could collapse with too much jostling. He paused at a particularly large hole in the side of the boat. Looks like we could go in this way. Careful, the edges are sharp.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial swam towards the side of the boat, carefully slipping through the hole and being very careful not to touch the sides. They entered the main decking of the ship, large and filled with rotting wood and rusted metal. The middle had collapsed in on itself, causing a giant hole in the middle of the ship with a great view of the bottom levels of the boat. Well, not a great view since there wasn't any light but a few rocks and sharp edges jutted out at the top which were easily visible. Stop being so careful, I'm sure we'll be fine.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Uhhhhh, I don't like that casual tone of voice, Bernon replied, obviously creeped out by the boat's shadowy interior. Um, so….what if we find bodies down here? I don't know why that only just occurred to me…..but really, there's bound to be some sailors that went down with the ship somewhere around here. He turned in a circle, trying to shine his light everywhere at once. ….Do you believe in ghosts, Tanrial?

@ElderGod-Carrots

'Course I do. Tanrial looked over her shoulder and smirked, Who doesn't? If there's any place we're gonna find ghosts it's down there. She pointed to the huge hole. You coming? It'll be fun and I'm sure we'll be okay I promise.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial rolled her eyes, though dove straight first into the large, dark hole. Come on, I need more light. Something large, or maybe a few had clearly destroyed the large ship. There were no large rocks or boulders that could have creating something so big.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

The ship had several levels, all broken or in disarray somehow. There were shattered cargo boxes, bullet holes and empty shells littering the floor, and what looked like huge burn marks in some parts of the ship. Bernon shone his light all around as he followed Tanrial deeper, frowning. You know what…I'm actually not seeing any bodies at all….that's weird. Maybe they managed to evacuate everyone before the ship sank?

@ElderGod-Carrots

A ship this big with the damage it has sustained? Tanrial glanced over at him, I don't think so. The further they swam, the darker it became, even with the light it felt like the darkness was constricting around them. And then something fast swam by, too fast for them too see, but it could be heard, a high pitched shriek coming and going.
