"Thanks. One of you might want to warn the establishment that about two hundred thirsty soldiers will be headed their way soon." Dane gave them a stiff smile and headed back towards the wagons.
"Yeep," Bernon said. "Yeah, maybe we should tell Polla and the others about all this."
“I think that’s a good idea, and once that’s done I’m taking another nap.” Tanrial sighed and turned, headed back towards the tavern.
"Okay. Sounds like a plan."
They returned to the tavern, where they were met by a crowd of curious villagers who'd been staring out the window at the newcomers. The bartender pushed his way to the front with Rebka skipping excitedly behind him. "Which ones are they? Is that where they plan to set up, right there along the treeline?"
“Well, that’s the People’s Army there. They just decided to set up Cosmo there and there’s about two hundred of them so I’d get ready for a rush of people coming in very soon.” She said,.
Rebka's eyes widened and she dashed back to the kitchen. "I'll open up another barrel!"
"Open two," called her father as he followed her behind the counter. "The rest of you, better quit gawking and get back to work. Tell Polla what's up when you go by the village."
As the fishermen filed out, Mike glanced at Tanrial. "Guess our part's done for now. Go on up and get some rest, we'll probably be down by the wagons somewhere when you wake up."
(Okay)
Tanrial nodded, “Alright, yeah. See you in a few.” She gave him a smile before heading up to her room to get some rest.
A few hours later, the smell of cooking food wafted up from the ground floor. It was a little past noon. Normally lunch break would have been over by now and the tavern would be empty and quiet, but today it was still bustling with activity. The sounds of lively conversation and activity followed the smell, making it difficult to sleep any longer.
(gotta go to bed, seeya ^^)
Tanrial yawned and as she headed down the stairs to the main room, taking in the busyness of the tavern in the afternoon light. She scanned the room for Bernon, Mike and Rick from her place at the stairs.
Bernon was the only familiar face in the crowd, chatting with Rebka as he helped her serve drinks. He spotted Tanrial and waved cheerfully.
(imma just stalk this one then.)
Tanrial waved back and walked over to him, "Hey, Where are the others?" She asked.
(sounds good ;) )
"Rick's hanging out with the soldiers, I think," Bernon said. "And Mike's at Polla's house with Dane talking business. They've been out there on the lake for almost two hours now."
"Of course they are. It's Mike, what would you expect," Tanrial rolled her eyes a little, "Anyway, how have you been doing?"
"Oh, you know," he said with a harried sigh. "A bit out of breath, I guess. Poor Rebka and her dad were totally swamped in here so I had to come help. It's just a nonstop stream of people…I doubt the tavern's had this much business in years."
"True, do you need any help? I'll be happy to assist." She offered, giving him a smile.
"Um…" Bernon glanced around until he spotted Rebka weaving between the tables. "Hey, Rebka! Tanrial wants to help, where do you need her?"
Rebka's braids were coming undone and she looked somewhat irritable. But her face brightened when she saw Tanrial. "Could you Take the dirty cups and dishes back to Da and help him wash them up? Thanks!"
"Yeah, 'course no problem." Tanrial gave Rebka a smile before grabbing a couple trays of dirty dishes and carefully maneuvering through the sea of people to the back, "Hey, I've come to help wash up."
The bartender glanced up and gave a gruff nod. "Thankee. Still buzzin' out there, I take it? Those yappin' prairie dogs can't seem to fill up."
Tanrial chuckled and nodded, placing the dirty dishes in a near by sink, running the water and starting to clean them, "Yeah, it's packed, can't get anywhere without bumping into someone."
"And this is only the first wave of recruits, isn't it? Soon there'll be a whole ton of people here. I just hope the lake and the forest can feed that many hungry travelers."
"I hope so, too. I doubt my people will have anything to do with you guys, they prefer keeping to themselves so that's one less group to worry about."
"That's good. As long as they don't disturb either this lake or the one next to it, I bet we can get along for a few days. I s'pose you'll be launching your attack as soon as everybody shows up."
