"Owning someone"
He snapped at him then turning to Naide.
"We should go now…."
He says looking at everyone else.
Finneas’ face curled into a brief snarl, “I never owned anyone!” He finally snapped, raising his voice to a near yell “I owned a raven, and that raven turned herself into a human and ran away. I’ve done nothing violent towards her!”
Rune flinched at the sudden change of tone and inched away from Finneas.
Mercy stepped up to Rune in hopes to reassure her that she was still safe.
“Okay that’s enough.” She said firmly. “Finneas if you happen to have anymore of your “recipe” that caused this, will you bring it out?” It was phrased as a question but spoken more like a statement. “This is partly my fault. When I first saw the band, I didn’t know Rune had been a Raven and believed that she was a slave who had run away. I then past my suspicion on to Young-Jae.” She apologized with a small sigh.
“Of course.” Finneas stood up with a pained grunt. He walked over to the storage shelves beside his bed to locate the rest of the batch Rune hadn’t eaten.
Turning to Naide once again he sat down on a chair next to her as she rested her head on his shoulder and sighed.
"I wish i couldve beat him up….lucky"
She says with a tiny laugh as Young-Jae tilted his head back to the wall.
"It felt good to finally beat someone up.."
He laughed.
"Are you all… arguing about Rune? Who's gonna protect her?" Grace laughed softly. "Just pick someone. Anyone will work, preferably the one she's gotten attached to the most…"
Naide and Young-Jae eyes shoot at mercy.
"Mercy"
They both said standing up and walking to the doorway.
"I- Mercy? There's not much to argue about when it comes to Mercy as far as I can tell…" Grace replied.
”Didn’t I already agree to that?” Mercy questioned a bit confused. ”And it seems more complicated than that to me. Isn't it?”
"I-I guess… What do you mean?" Grace asked.
"Okay then, if you won't then i will"
Naide crossed her arms with a sigh while she leaning against the doorframe.
"W-what? I thought you guys were leaving?" Isobel asked very much confused.
”I already said I would do it, Naide.” Mercy sighed, eyes flashing a bit defensively.
Are they both this stubborn?
Taking a moment to survey the room, Mercy answered, ”We weren't really fighting over Rune. It's just we made some quick accusations and now, after talking with Finneas, I would like to verify if we were really right or if we made a mistake.”
Grace laughed quietly. "W-well, it can't be that hard, can it? Just have the person Rune's most attached too!"
"Good, i just wanted you guys to shut up"
She says finally walking out if the house, sitting on the grass outside.
Mercy raised a brow. ”You just said that, Grace. And the apparent consensus seems to be me… And Finneas.”
“Yes, she does seem quite attached to me doesn’t she?” Finneas held out the cloth bag of seemingly innocent biscuit-cookies to Mercy, or anyone who was take them, “They don’t work the way I wanted them to anyway.”
Rune crept over to examine the bag Finneas held, very interested.
Finneas held it out of her reach, “No, I know they smell delicious but you’ve already had one before, remember?”
Rune didn’t understand all he said; she just wanted those delicious snacks again.
”Well, she has known you for much longer than the single day that she has known the three of us.” Mercy watched as Finneas kept the bag away from an eager Rune, holding back a laugh.
Deciding to intervene, she wrapped her arms around the dark-haired girl, pulling her back. ”Rune, stop that.” She chuckled. ”Don't worry, I have no intention to try one. But in what way do they not work?” She gave an appraising glance at Finneas. ”Too young?”
"okay, we should get going now. And if you guys have another place to stay, you are extremely welcome to stay there."
He says making his way out of the house.
Rune giggled, curling up her arms to hold onto Mercy’s, “Biscuit,” she kept whispering, but mostly for the amusement now.
“Well, it turned Rune into a human; I’m already a human.” He explained, “When Rune was a raven she was in her mid-twenties, and it looks like it didn’t change her age any.” He cast a partly amused glance to Rune. “Mischievous as ever, still.”
”But it worked on you as you intended.” Mercy shrugged as best she could with Rune in her arms. ”I don't know what you used or how it works so I don't know why Rune became human. It's likely her age may have been affected differently. You are familiar with the concept of ”dog years”? Perhaps Ravens have a similar chronology.” She glanced at Young-Jae. ”Why so eager to leave?”
She hoped it wasn't just out of distrust of Finneas.
"I never ate this recipe," Finneas explained, "I never had the chance after Rune ate one. And I know she was a twenty-year-old Raven because I raised her since she was a chick." He untied the bag to look inside, "But you're happy to try one yourself if you'd like; I doubt you would turn into a bird or get any younger."
"well, its incredibly dirty in here…..anyway, like i said, do you still need a place to stay?"
He says rather coldly as he steps out of the doorway.
“I see. Thank you for your time, Finneas, and for the offer but I will have to decline this time. I have been a bird before but I don’t think I should test my abilities against your work.” She smiled kindly before turning towards Young-Jae. ”I did have a place but I doubt it will be very accommodating for Rune. And honestly, I wouldn't say this is dirty but… Perhaps organized chaos fits better in my opinion. Rune, are you ready to go?”
"oh okay….will you be staying with her? If not Naide will because i highly doubt you trust me….."
He said with his triple eyeroll
