“Are you sure you want to walk at a time like this?”
“Are you sure you want to walk at a time like this?”
"Would you rather I died?" Kye looked at her but then turned his attention back to the people. He had a better look at who all was there. He knew who all would be there, he wanted to know where they were.
I don't know about you, but it looks to me like a certain someone is missing.
Well you wouldn't be wrong. But the question is, where is he?
I don't know, when I do know, I'll let you know.
Thanks.
“At a time like this, when you act this way?” Hunter asked as she followed. She noticed that he seemed to be looking for someone, and wondered who it was.
"One of the really bad guys that I don't like isn't here and he should be," Kye muttered more to himself than to Hunter.
“Great,” Hunter said, scowling. “Do we get to fight? ‘Cause I really need to.”
"We may have to, if I can't find Garret," Kye bit his lip in frustration. Something sounded behind them and dread filled him as he recognized it.
"You got that right Cavey!" a wild and crazy sounding voice shouted from somewhere. What sounded like high pressure air being forced out of something sounded right by them and smoke rose up around them.
"Shit!," Kye snapped jumping up in panic. "Knock out gas."
“Well, Damnit,” Hunter cursed.
The smoke rose up around them causing Kye to cough and gag, which in turn caused immense pain to course through him like lightning.
"Hey, Cavey," a huge figure appeared in front of Kye. A moment later Kye was kicked to the ground.
Hunter had slumped to the ground, nearly unconscious. But she certainly saw when he was kicked, and somewhere, in her groggy mind, she thought of his internal bleeding. She pulled her sleeve back slightly and let her snake crawl free before slumping even more.
Kye bit his lip and didn't make a sound when one of his injured ribs was kicked and the figure disappeared. He choked and coughed, everything getting blurry and soon going black.
The snake slitthered over to Hunter and reared up, sinking it’s fangs into her wrist. She yelped and sat up. Then, she saw Kye in the ground, unconscious, and cursed.
A figure suddenly caught Hunter in a choke hold from behind. "Time to go night night little girl."
Black spots started to flash in front of her eyes and she clawed at the arm. Her snake, unnoticed, moved invisibly over the ground.
Whoever was holding her dragged backwards and soon she was thrown onto some sort of big metal thing. Kye a moment after was thrown like a rag doll into it as well. Whoever had put Hunter in the steel box, seemed to have been nicer than whoever had done Kye. Because Kye hit the back wall and slid to the ground.
Hunter winced. “Where the fuck am I?”
She muttered, then moved over to Kye. She checked his pulse with surprisingly gentle fingers and breathed a sigh of relief. He was okay. But what could she do? She couldn’t heal him. She was more of a destroyer than a healer.
Kye shifted barely and began coughing in a fit. The steel box they were in suddenly lurched and started moving.
Hunter closed her eyes and opened them. Only a faint light appeared at the bottom of the cage, and she scowled. Feeling around, she found a switch and pressed it.
Kye, by this point, was coughing up blood. The switch Hunter had pulled opened the back of the box, and revealed that they were in some kind of truck being driven somewhere. They were still in the cave though. Kye's coughing slowly came to a halt and he shifted, in half consciousness. Then he pulled his satchel off his shoulders, and tossed it to her. "Go!"
“What the…” Hunter stared at him. “First you’re coughing up blood, and now you’re fine?”
"No, I'm not," his voice was scratchy and raw sounding. "But you need to get that key to Order now. Get going!"
Hunter scowled at him. “Fine. But I’m coming back for you after.” She have a slight hissing noise, and her snake slithered in, wrapping itself near Kye.
Hunter sent him one last look and popped the bottom of the cage out and dropped neatly to the ground.
Kye fell back, limply, his breathing ragged and everything hurting. "If there is anything to come back to," he groaned. He chances of making it out of this one alive were slim to none.
Hunter ran like she never had before. Every time she felt like stopping, when her lungs burned and her legs felt like giving out, she remembered Kye and ran harder. She soon arrived at Order’s cave. She walked in and collapsed. She felt gentle hands on her, and her exhaustion faded away. Order helped her up. “Where is the boy?” She asked.
“Trapped,” Hunter said.
“Where?” She seemed surprised, and angry.
Finally the truck came to a halt. In a jerking way that lurched Kye. He let out a groan and twisted his torso in pain. The truck was opened and he was dragged out, and thrown to the ground. "Little Caveman," the voice sounded just like the annoying one from earlier. "What a state you are in, huh? I see the dragon had fun, did ya kill it, like you killed all those innocent people?"
Kye forced himself to start getting up. He spit out some blood and looked up at the man in front of him. The suit the tie, the brown hair sticking up in an odd way, and the crooked smile. "No one is innocent no matter what they try. But people can be good, and at least I try to be good, and kind. Not like you Randle."
Order frowned. “Why didn’t you save him?”
Hunter scowled. “For one thing, you should have seen the logo on the side. And I had to get you unlocked, so that you could heal him.”
“He’s hurt?”
“Yes. Now tell me where the fucking keyhole is it I will hurt you.”
Order sighed and pointed to her necklace. Hunter pulled the key from the bag and unlocked it.
The change was immediate. Order seemed to grow and change, and seemed to glow. Hunter only rolled her eyes. “If you’re done getting all pretty, can we go now?”
