Levi shuffled into bed, tucking Eerie under the covers beside him. He opened his arms so Eerie could get comfortable in them. The whole scene reminded him of sleepovers with his sister. She had nightmares all the time and always called him into her room so they could cuddle. Apparently, he was the best teddy bear in the world.
Eerie snuggled closer into Levi, rolling into his arms. He leaned his head close to Levi's neck, shutting his eyes slowly. He wrapped his arms around him slowly and shut his eyes totally, drifting off, thinking of fascinating wars and mental patients.
(Skip?)
(Sure.)
Levi woke up early. Around 5:30, based on the position of the sun. Shit. A headache pounded lightly at his temples as he sat up, leaving Eerie curled next to him on the bed. A couple of the combat ideas from last night were still floating around his head so Levi hopped out of bed and grabbed his notebook, returning to bed to scribble his ideas for strategy onto the page.
Eerie made a faint groan in his throat but didn’t wake. He curled up in Levi’s still-warm spot and curled up in a tight ball to preserve his warmth, resting his head on Levi’s pillow. He soon slipped back into his deep stupor, giving gentle snores.
Levi finished writing down what he could remember, giving the tiniest of smiles when he noticed that Eerie had stolen his spot. Eerie was like a tiny cat, always curling up to people and looking for warmth. Levi shifted beside Eerie and draped an arm over him so he wouldn't get too cold. That weird freeing fit from yesterday had freaked him out.
Eerie rose his head and looked at Levi hazily over his shoulder. He rolled over onto his other side, bringing their chests closer like how they were last night. He resumed his comfortable position with his arms around Levi and their legs entwined.
(I'm heading to sleep. Goodnight :)
"Did I wake you?" Levi eased his arms around Eerie, pulling him all the way into Levi's chest. He hoped Eerie had woken naturally. Eerie had already dealt with so much of Levi's shit, he didn't need to get woken at what most people considered unholy hours of the morning on top of everything else.
(Good night!)
Eerie hummed tiredly, shifting closer and into a more comfortable position. He shook his head a little. “M’nooo… I’m going to… go back… to sleep…” He yawned heavily, stuck his head back under Levi’s neck and shut his eyes. The latter was just so warm… Eerie couldn’t help falling back asleep…
Once Eerie slid back into dreamland, Levi reached across the bed and grabbed his notebook and pencil. He obviously couldn't leave the bed, so he did the only thing he could think of. Drawing. The nightstand was his first subject, little more than a warmup. Then came the view through the window. Finally, he turned to Eerie, roughing out a sketch of his face.
Eerie’s lips were pulled up into a neutral smile as he slept soundly. He had a few laughlines here and there, mostly around his lips. His eyes were droopier in his sleep, his hair fluffed out around his face. He slept through the scribblings of Levi’s pencil on paper.
Levi got more and more detailed with his drawing, adding soft lines around the eyes and a slight upward tilt to the face. Eerie was very soft, especially in sleep. He was so rounded and sooth, which made him difficult to draw. Especially when he had so many hard to capture features. Levi finished the drawing only half satisfied.
Eerie shifted slightly in his sleep, bringing his head closer to Levi, to bump into his notepad. He made a tiny noise and opened his eyes slowly, gazing up at him sleepily.
“Mmmmm… what are you doing?” He yawned slowly.
Levi stiffened when Eerie spoke, not expecting his husband to get up so suddenly. He closed the notebook with a snap, tucking the pencil into the spiral binding and placing it beside him. Wasn't it rude to draw people without their permission? Stupid brain, giving him the facts after he'd done what he was going to do. "Drawing."
Eerie blinked and rose off of Levi, caught off guard by his sudden, quick movements.
“There’s nothing wrong with drawing. What didja draw?” He smiled a little.
"Nothing much. The view from the window. The nightstand…" Levi stared at his notebook for a little, turning back to Eerie with a slightly guilty look on his face. He wasn't going to hide anything from Eerie, no matter how small. That would just cause problems later on. "… you."
Eerie smiled a little wider. “Really? Did you finish? Coz if you didn’t, I make a pretty good poser.” He laid down in Levi’s warm arms again. He didn’t think Levi of a drawer, but if he thought about it, he did have the personality of one.
Levi shrugged. He was constantly trying to improve his skills and drawing was no exception. There was always something he wanted to add or take away, so much so that he didn't consider most of his art finished. Not that he drew much anyway. "There are always things I'd like to work on."
Eerie blinked, a slight grin working apart his face. “So you don’t want to draw me anymore? I don’t mind staying like this for a bit. I am very comfortable.” He finally smiled.
"Oh… I wouldn't mind drawing you again. If you're okay with that." Drawing Eerie while he was awake would be very different. His face had more energy. Was more vibrant. It would be interesting to compare and contrast the two drawings. Oh, should he show Eerie the drawing? "Would you like to see the other picture I drew?"
Eerie beamed, turning his face up happily. “Sure. I don’t care at all. Of course I’d like to see the other drawing!” He set his face down and gazed up at Levi expectantly, grinning.
Levi flipped to the page with Eerie's face on it and handed it over. Not the best thing he'd ever drawn, but the likeness was pretty good. The cheekbones were just a hint too fat, eyes a bit too smoothed. Maybe he could do better while Eerie was awake. "Does it look good?"
Eerie studied it. He liked the fine details on his face, eyes and hair, especially his laughlines. It felt like he was gazing into a mirror.
“It’s wonderful! I didn’t think you could draw this good.” He handed it back.
Wow. Drawing had always been seen as one of his little eccentricities, not something to praise. He was expecting a strict not or a discontented hum, not actual words of encouragement. Of course, Eerie was breaking all the rules that other people followed. "The cheeks are all wrong. See." He pointed out the less than wonderful shading on the cheeks.
“But look at how finely you defined my jaw, pores and eyebrows. Especially my hair! It’s amazing.” He smiled a happily again. “I’d hang it up on my wall if I drew that.”
Levi tore it out of his notebook with a loud 'riii-iiip' and handed it to Eerie. He didn't draw pictures on the same pages so there was nothing important on the back. "You can have it. It's your face." He really wanted to draw Eerie right now, smiling big and looking sleepily content.
