"That sounds like it would be a good day," Willow muttered back, a smile pulling at the corners of her lips.
Kenzie took a shuddering breath before relaxing into Hunter. She buried her face in his chest for a moment before looking back up at him and whispering, "Thank you."
Time skip to a month
“It’s cold,” Leo whined for the umpteenth time that minute. Hunter wanted to bash Leo’s skull with his fist, but he assumed Kenzie wouldn’t be pleased when she’d find out that he had injured her best friend’s boyfriend.
Yes, Leo Barton officially had a girlfriend. After several years of flirting and being afraid of heartbreak, Leo had fallen for Kenzie’s best friend, Willow. It hadn’t come as a shock to Hunter. He’d predicted it when they started hanging out more than often, but he had confirmed his suspicions on the day they started dating. Leo had fallen deeply in love with Willow, but unlike Hunter who had confessed quickly, Leo kept his love for her a secret. When Hunter questioned him about it, Leo merely replied that he didn’t want to scare off Willow with this intense feelings. He wanted to keep it slow and simple.
Today, they were going on a double date. It was mid-December, with heavy snow fall. Today, however, was somewhat sunny, although Leo didn’t seem to enjoy it. He hated the cold and preferred warmth. They’d decided to go ice skating, courtesy of Kenzie.
Speaking of Kenzie, she had seemed to get better after the death of her mother. For a few days, she had been depressed, but Hunter made sure to keep her smiling. In fact, he had hardly left her alone. Leo commented on him being a little too clingy, but Hunter didn’t care as long as he made Kenzie happy.
“There they are!” Leo rubbed his hands together, shivering from the cold, his nose red. Hunter’s eyes found Kenzie’s, and immediately the warmth he felt melted he cold in his blood.
Kenzie and Willow were arguing about some show they watched together before Kenzie had spotted Hunter. She grinned and waved at him, her eyes lighting up. The couple had been dating for over a month, now, but time just seemed to fly whenever she was with him. Willow teased her incessantly about it, but Kenzie paid her no mind. If she was with Hunter, she didn't care about much else.
Willow was much calmer than usual since she had started dating Leo, and could almost always be found on her phone, texting him. Those were the times Kenzie had a slight reprieve from the teasing, and she loved to watch her best friend be so happy.
When Willow spotted Leo, she immediately started walking faster, leaving Kenzie behind without a word. Kenzie shook her head and laughed quietly to herself as she continued to enjoy the sun, which had finally decided to peek through the clouds after a long week of snow, snow, snow, and more snow.
(Haven’t Kenzie and Hunter been dating for more than a month? O.o?)
Hunter didn’t know when he’d gotten so sappy, but he blamed it all on Kenzie. Around other people, he was guarded and formal, but around Kenzie he seemed to be a lovesick fool. When he saw her face lighten up at seeing him, he felt undeniably happy, like someone lit a candle inside him which burned brighter every second until it completely consumed him. Before Hunter could register what was going on, he already found himself walking towards Kenzie.
Leo, on the other hand, didn’t waste a second in running towards Willow. He wrapped her in his arms and pressed her against his chest, sighing softly.
“You’re warm,” he murmured against her hair. “I need warmth right now. I’m freezing, Will. Freezing!”
Meanwhile, Hunter stopped right in front of Kenzie as he swooped down to kiss her, his cold lips warm against hers.
“I prefer the cold, but I don’t mind you warming me right up,” he murmured.
Willow laughed into Leo's chest. "Allow me to help warm you up, then!" she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace.
"Well, I'd rather be warm, so maybe you could warm me up?" Kenzie asked, returning Hunter's kiss with a quick peck on his lips before smiling up at him.
Leo beamed and lifted her off the ground, kissing the top of her head lightly.
“My savior!” He exclaimed, relieved, excited like a little kid getting the candy he wanted so bad.
Hunter grinned, wrapping his arms around her tighter.
“If you says so,” he said cheekily. “I could warm you right up.”
"Nah, you're my savior," Willow countered playfully. "Ya know, my lips are pretty cold…"
Kenzie grinned back. "Well, I say so. Could you please warm me up?"
Leo replied by claiming Willow’s lips, biting her lower lip playfully. He felt her cold lips against his, but soon they felt warm against his own. He felt himself getting warmer and jumpy just by sharing a kiss. He was doomed, Leo realized.
Hunter bent down to kiss her on the neck before lightly sucking on the skin, removing her hair from her neck before moving to her throat.
“Are you getting warmed up?” He murmured teasingly. “If not, I have some other tricks up my sleeve.”
Willow hummed contentedly into the kiss, closing her eyes as she ran a hand through Leo's hair. She would never have thought, not in a million years, that she would ever be able to find someone who would make her as happy as Leo did. Like she had told him when they first met, most guys couldn't handle her.
Tilting her head a bit to give Hunter more access to her neck, Kenzie bit back a moan. Stupid neck, so sensitive…
"No, no. This is fine. I'm starting to warm up, now," she assured him breathlessly.
Leo pulled back for breath before grinning brightly.
“That warmed me up real good,” he said, breathless. “Have I ever told you how much of a fabulous kisser you are, Will?”
Hunter’s lips twisted in a smirk.
“Hm? That’s a shame,” he murmured, feigning dejectedness. “That sound you made definitely said otherwise.” He confirmed his words by nibbling on the same spot once again.
(It’s cute how Hunter is a straight forward who is a huge tease and doesn’t get flustered easily, whereas Leo is the cutie who teases but gets flustered way too easily once the tables turn on him.)
"Oh? Well, I think you're the best kisser," Willow replied, returning his grin. "I don't think I've found anyone quite like you."
Why must it be so sensitive?!?!?
Kenzie made another sound in her throat as she felt Hunter's teeth on her neck. Somehow, he knew just how to get to her… Not like it was really that hard…
Leo’s cheeks turned pink at Willow’s comment. He cleared his throat before resting his head in the crook of her neck.
“Damn it, Will,” he groaned, flustered.
Hunter smirked at the sound Kenzie made, but before he could say anything, an annoyed voice cut them off.
“Quit with the PDA!” A teenager yelled as he walked by. Hunter pulled away from Kenzie to offer him a sly smirk.
“What, jealous that you don’t have a girl to do that to?”
The teenager huffed before walking away, making Hunter laugh.
"Aw, Leo, Hun!" Willow exclaimed, giggling.
Kenzie shook herself before laughing. "Hunter, you shouldn't tease poor kids!" she joked. "Let's get to that skating, shall we?"
(Oh no I thought I replied…)
“Kenzie’s right,” Leo grumbled. “We should get to the ice skating ring.”
Hunter sighed, hoping for something else but plastered a smile on his face.
“I was hoping on continuing with the PDA, but I guess we can head off to the ring now,” he said before turning his attention towards Willow and giving her a greeting fist bump.
(Lol.)
Kenzie blushed slightly. Even after more than a month, Hunter could still get her to blush at some of the littlest things. She was sure he found it amusing, but it wasn't like she could help it!
Willow simply shook her head, chuckling a little. She took Leo's hand in her own, grinning up at him.
"C'mon, it'll be fun! Did I ever tell you guys that Kenzie and I used to take figure skating lessons together?" she asked.
Hunter took a few steps behind Kenzie before leaning against her back, arms over her shoulder and hands clasped together as they walked (this is literally the suckiest description I have ever given).
“Whoa, really?” Leo’s eyes widened and he looked surprised. “You guys must be extremely good, then!”
“Kenzie never mentioned that,” Hunter said, his chin on Kenzie’s shoulder as he blew lightly on her neck just for the fun of it. “Can’t wait to see you guys show off your skating skills.”
(Yeah, funny thing, I have no idea how to picture that… Lol.)
Kenzie felt a shiver go down her spine and her cheeks redden more when Hunter blew on her neck. She tilted her head just enough to whisper so that only he could hear her, "Stop it… You're driving me crazy." While it was a good crazy, she'd like to be able to stop blushing eventually.
Willow shrugged. "I mean, I'm pretty good, but Kenzie was at the top of all our classes. I just don't know how that was the only sport-like activity I managed to rope her into! Well, other than dancing."
(Okay, well imagine he’s hugging her from behind, but instead of his arms around her stomach, they’re like around her neck?)
Hunter smirked before leaning closer to Kenzie’s ear.
“Am I?” He whispered back, blowing on Kenzie’s neck once again with every attention to drive her crazy.
“I’m sure you’re amazing at it, too, Will,” Leo responded, holding Willow’s hand and playing with her fingers. “Hunter’s pretty stubborn on not trying new things.”
Hunter narrowed his eyes.
“I am not,” he responded. “I don’t fancy the disappointment that comes after it.”
Leo shot him a cheeky look.
“Of course you don’t,” he replied back sarcastically.
"I'm fairly good. I can do a few more things than the average skater, but Kenzie could probably be in the Olympics if she wanted to be!" Willow exaggerated.
Kenzie shivered again, the blush in her cheeks deepening further. "Yes, you are," she whispered, her voice wavering this time. She cleared her throat before she spoke louder, "Willow, I'm really not that great, and you know it, too."
Hunter smirked, feeling her cheeks getting hotter. He wanted to tease her more, waiting for the point where she’d shove him away, but it didn’t happen. He chuckled lightly, kissing her softly on the neck before Leo interjected.
“Dude, she’ll explode if she gets any redder,” he said with a roll of his eyes. “Stop teasing her now.” He turned his attention back towards Willow.
“You girls are something,” Leo whistled. “I took some classes with my sister when I was younger, but I stopped shortly afterwards.”
Kenzie reached back to playfully slap Hunter in the leg before shooting Leo a grateful look. She leaned her head back to rest on Hunter's chest for a moment, then pulled up to continue walking.
"You took figure skating lessons?" Willow asked incredulously, laughing. "That's great!"
