(Oh and did I mention that most of the reason I can't sleep is 'cause soon I'll be going to a boarding school away from my parents and two younger siblings and tons of people all around me 24/7 and–you get the point. Ah….good times! Not. But I trust in God's plan and His timing, and that's all I really need to do. Right?)
(Yes-yes-yes! ¡Sí!)
@Natasha
(So how shall I put Leah into this?)
@Imperfect_Autumn group

Let me think.)

"Mm-hm. Sappy love songs. Right," Kenzie muttered, pulling her phone from her purse and connecting it to the Bluetooth. Just to spite Hunter, she played Love Song by Taylor Swift, smirking slightly as she pressed play.
Hunter groaned.
“Did I mention I’m not a big fan of Taylor Swift?” He groaned as Kenzie turned on the volume. “You are seriously troublesome.”
@Natasha
(Hey I just had a thought! What if Leah knew Hunter and Kenzie from highschool maybe but didn't really keep in touch with either of them, and then maybe Leah hears about Kenzie's mother's death and then goes to see if Kenzie needs some help or just a friend or something? Idk, just a suggestion.)

@Imperfect_Autumn group
(Sounds good!
Sorry I'm so late! My fam, a friend, and I went to a beach, and then my friend hung out with me for a while.)
"Only for you," Kenzie teased, looking at her phone as she put songs on the queue. She refrained from adding "Our Song" for Hunter, and instead added some songs by Anthem Lights, Carmen Justice, and other bands/artists.

(ANTHEM LIGHTSSSSSSSSSSSS)

Rafael and Matteo had left the apartment last night after a long and fun Marvel marathon, and Veronica had her head in Leah's lap as they watched Lilo and Stitch at ten in the morning after a restful night. Leah was scrolling through her phone when she gasped.
"Leah? Is something wrong?" Veronica asked frowning at her sister's sudden change of attitude.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine………….it's just……..one of my friends from highschool just lost her mom……I-I…….." Leah sighed. "I haven't talked to her in a while, maybe I should call her and see if she needs some help or something……….I don't know."
"Do it Leah." Leah nodded and reluctantly called Kenzie, not wanting to interrupt her if she was busy.
(Is that okay?)
@Imperfect_Autumn group
(Sure!)
The song "Better Together" was paused by Kenzie's phone receiving a call. She frowned slightly; she'd been feeling a bit better because of the music, but now that was interrupted by someone. Checking her caller ID, she saw that it was Leah, a friend from high school whom she hadn't seen or talked to in a while.
With a small sigh, she accepted the call and answered, "Hello? Leah?"
@Natasha
Leah hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words. Finally she said, "Hey Kenzie." She said softly. "I realize that this is a bad time, and that I should have called earlier–but I just wanted to let you know that I'd love to catch up with you and that I'm just a phone call away if you need anything." She said, guilt flooding her mind, knowing that she should have kept up with her friend.

Kenzie blinked, her mouth forming words, but her voice failing her. Leah must have heard about her mom; why else would she be calling?
No. No, that wasn't like her, to only call because someone died. That thought must have been the grief talking. Well, Kenzie wouldn't have it. She shook the thought away, leaning back into her seat.
"Thanks," she sighed. "I think I'm going to need quite a bit of help for a while. Although, I do have someone who's been doing a very good job at that." She looked at Hunter out of the corner of her eye, almost hoping that he hadn't heard her, but also hoping that he had at the same time.
@Natasha
Leah nodded. "I'm–I'm really sorry that I didn't call you earlier. Something happened–but you don't want to hear about that right now. But it still wasn't an excusable reason to lose touch with you." She said apologetically. "Just tell me what I can do for you, and it'll be done."
@Imperfect_Autumn group
"All right, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you again. I…" Kenzie sighed, trying to find words to speak. "I guess that, right now, all I need is some time to think, ya know?" Her voice fell to a near whisper as she choked out her words through tears that threatened to spill over, "It's hard."
@Natasha
"I know it is Kenzie. Believe me, I know. I'll…call you later, okay?" She said, sliding her hand through her sister's hair.
@Imperfect_Autumn group
"Mm-hm. Thanks."
Ugh, Kenzie's brain had clearly decided to take a holiday, because 'thanks' was apparently the only thing she could say right now.
"Well, uh, 'bye, Leah," she said after a second. She waited for her friend to say her own goodbye before hanging up and closing her eyes with a heavy sigh.
No more crying. No more crying. No more crying, she chanted silently, trying to keep her tears at bay. Oh, how she wished that they weren't driving at that moment! What she would do for a hug right now, even if it wasn't from Hunter…
@Natasha
"Bye Kenzie." Leah said, hanging up. She looked down at Veronica. "Why don't we go eat out for breakfast?" Ten minutes later they were out the door and on their way to an American Table.

McKenzie pushed play on the music, though it wasn't helping as much this time. She wrapped her arms around herself, then looked back out the window.
Oh, Mama. What am I going to do without you?

Hunter was silent the whole time Kenzie was on the call, but when she was finished, he put an arm around her shoulders despite driving. He felt a little irritated that all of Kenzie’s friends hadn’t called her or even met up with her to help her get over her grief. He hadn’t even heard about any of her friends from her.
“We’re almost there,” he told Kenzie softly.
@Imperfect_Autumn group
Kenzie sighed.
"Thanks," she breathed quietly. "For everything. I don't know what I did to deserve you."
