Hunter bent down to open one of the lower shelves and took out a small pot.
"Would that work, or do you need a bigger one?"

(YOU'RE WATCHING IT?!? YAY!!!

WHAT'S HAPPENING? WHY IS IT SAD?)(SEASON 1, EPISODE 6 I THINK.
SIMMONS GOT INFECTED BY THAT ELECTRICITY THING LIKE THOSE FIREMEN.)(No, that part's so sad!!!
Just wait until S3, though…)(I'm watching it in school and I was fighting tears…)
(Lol. Yeah, I wouldn't do that for season 3, episode 13… I almost cried in the YMCA…)
Hunter bent down to open one of the lower shelves and took out a small pot.
"Would that work, or do you need a bigger one?"
"That'll be good. Thanks!" Kenzie said, taking it from him and setting it on the stove. "How many eggs to you want? I'm going to have four."
"I'll take four, too," Hunter shrugged. "Is there anything I can do?"
"Hm… Not that I can think of. Other than keeping me company," Kenzie stated, smiling as she turned to face him.
(I'm going to be gone for a few hours, but I'll be back later!)
(I'm going to be gone for a few hours, but I'll be back later!)
(Okay! Bye!)
As Kenzie worked, Hunter's eyes trailed her every movement. Hunter felt deep concern for his girlfriend. Her mother had just died and she was acting normal. Too normal. Hunter realized everything hadn't settled in yet. Not until she saw her fathers. He just needed to make sure she didn't break. That was what he was here for, other than the fact that he loved her and Kenzie was his girlfriend.
(Oof, I'm back!)
When Kenzie finished, she turned to face Hunter and exclaimed, "It's done!" Her smile fell as she noticed the way he was looking at her.
"What?" she asked warily.
(Bumping.)
Hunter continued to stare at her, never removing his eyes from her.
"Nothing," he finally replied. "I was just thinking."
"Hm."
Kenzie turned back to the food, and flashbacks to her nightmare suddenly started to run through her mind. She tried blinking away the tears, but it wasn't helping.
Again, a drunk driver sped into the side of her mother's car. The sickening crunch as the cars bent around each other.
She placed one hand on the counter, steadying herself as she covered her mouth with her other hand, choking back a sob.
Her mother, in a hospital, laying on a bed and hooked up to machines. The ominous beep as the heart rate monitor tracked every pulse of her heart. The high-pitched squeal as her heart stopped beating and the machine flat-lined.
Tears started to roll down her face, and she let them go unchecked.
Hunter wrapped his arms around Kenzie, pulling her into his chest, holding her close.
"It's okay…" he murmured, running circles on her back. "It's going to be fine… You're going to be fine…"
Kenzie buried her face in Hunter's chest again and shook her head.
"I'm never going to see her again," she choked out past a sob.
She tried to stop crying, but she just couldn't. She just wanted to pretend like the call last night had never happened. That her mom was still alive, at home, probably making pancakes because it was her Sunday morning tradition.
Kenzie trembled from the overwhelming sadness that had taken her over and wouldn't let her go.
"Let it all out," Hunter murmured. "Don't hold back. You'll feel better if you do."
Hunter could understand Kenzie's situation completely. He remembered when he lost his own mother. He remembered his loss.
"She may not be here, Kenzie, but she's still with you," Hunter said quietly. "Mourn for her, but don't give up smiling. Your mother would hate it if you stopped laughing because she's gone."
"I– I want to throw something…or– or hit something…or scream at something…or something," she mumbled hoarsely after her tears stopped and she could cry no longer. She held tightly onto Hunter, the only thing keeping her from sinking to the floor and curling up into an impenetrable ball.
"Hit me," Hunter said. "If it makes you feel better."
(I really shouldn't be watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in school.)
"Mm-mm. No. I'm not hitting you," Kenzie murmured.
(Ikr? You're not even at the worst part, yet…)
Hunter kissed the top of her head.
"I'm stronger than I look," Hunter murmured. "If it makes you feel better, I'll do it."
"You really want me to hit you?" Kenzie asked, pulling away to look into his eyes.
Hunter shrugged.
"If it makes you feel better," he repeated. "Besides, I'm tougher than I look. I can take a few hits."
