@Chameleon the Slytherpuff and Slitherpuff
"We don't have supplies to spare!" One person tells them.
"What, you've been holed up in this college since the apocalypse started?" Persephone jokes.
"We don't have supplies to spare!" One person tells them.
"What, you've been holed up in this college since the apocalypse started?" Persephone jokes.
"We just need water and a little nourishment and then well leave." AJ muttered, hoisting her gun back over her shoulder
“Well, you got somewhere we can crash, or are you going to make us travel through the night?” Marx pressed, “Last I checked, shelter wasn’t something that you can run out of like everything else.”
The group shuffled nervously. "You can stay for a few nights!" One person finally says, "But then you have to go! We're running low on food as it is!"
Marx smirked.
“That’s what I thought,” he muttered to where only his allies could hear.
AJ grinned and lightly punched Marx's arm "let's just head inside."
Persephone practically skips inside, gratefully to finally be out of the shade.
(NO DYING ALLOWED! I WILL NOT BE HERE NEXT WEEK!)
AJ walks inside after her and finds a small washroom to clean her face. She took out a small rag from her pack and washed it before rubbing the dirt and grime from outside, from her face. She came backe outside with a fresh face and sighed "now, about that water." She said meaningfully at one of the people
Marx walked inside after everyone else and right away found a place to sit down and catch his breath.
"Our water supply is running low." A girl informs them, stepping forward. "I'm Fig. We were going to go to the water dam and see what the problem was, but then you guys got here."
“You can still go,” Marx said, “It’s not like we’re stopping you.”
He played around with one of his knives restlessly.
"I didn't actually think we'd make it outside, so…" Fig shrugs, "We'll probably leave it for when we're dying of thirst or whatever."
"I could go." Persephone finally says, looking down at her hands, "My dad worked at a dam, I could probably figure out what was wrong."
“Okay, but I’m coming with you,” Marx insisted, “Too dangerous to go alone.”
He stood up and stretched a bit.
"Get me out of here." Fig adds as Persephone stands up and loads her bow.
"Alright then, Marx, either give me the map or lead the way." Persephone instructs.
AJ looked at her friends and shrugged "I just got here and washed my face for the first time in like, a week. I'm not going back. Yall go on, I'll stay here and watch over…everything."
“Okay,” Marx said, “I could use the rest too, but… I do believe water is a little more important. We have enough people though.”
He looked at the map and started leading the way.
Persephone and Fig follow him about two miles before reaching one of the California dams. Sliding down a small slope of dirt, Persephone sighs.
"There's your problem." She says, pointing to around ten zombies stuck near the water filter, "Zombies. We can't shoot them, because that might taint the water, but it's probably already tainted anyway, so what's the point?"
"Yeah, well, we still need water." Fig says, "Our water barrels are almost empty, and it hasn't rained anything but dust in two weeks."
Marx paced a little.
“Hm, no point in tainting the water any more though,” he said, “We should think this through. Any way we could get them up here?”
"Hey!" Persephone impulsively yells, waving her arms around like one of the inflatable people at car dealerships. "Zombies! Tasty meat, right here!"
“Not all of them at once!” Marx snarled, whipping out his gun in case things turned bad.
"Whoops." Persephone mutters and Fig laughs as all the Affected wade out of the water and begin to shamble towards them. Persephone aims at a red-head Affected that was missing an arm and manages to shoot her down without making her fall back into the water. "There's only like, ten of them." Persephone says defensively, shooting down a fat male zombie.
“I guess so, but I’m hoping they don’t have any friends nearby,” Marx grumbled, aiming at a child zombie once it had come well ashore.
"Aww, a kiddo." Fig pulls out a long butcher knife and leads away a zombie in a torn business suit before stabbing it in its' eye.
“Ugh… to think many of our families probably ended up with this same fate,” Marx muttered. He pulled out a knife and stabbed another zombie through the cheek then the face.
