"Wow, this is a lot." Jayde said, not yet struggling at the weights of the books.
"Wow, this is a lot." Jayde said, not yet struggling at the weights of the books.
“Not done yet.” Finn replied, handing her three more large books.
Once Finn put those on her arms, her knees buckled but she managed to stay standing. She walked over to an empty table and put those there before going to look for her books.
Finn took one more book before heading off to find Jayde.
Jayde got a total of five books all in different genres and subjects before waving Finn over to her.
“Hey, ready to drop these off in our dorm then head to class?”
"Yup." She answered picking up each one easily and heading for the stairs.
Finn followed her out of the building, and up to the dorms.
Jayde put her books neatly in the shelf before getting her pens and going back to the door.
Finn just dumped his on the bed, before grabbing his stuff and leaving.
Jayde closed the door behind them and followed Finn. "We basically have the same classes so I'll be following you around until my sports classes."
“So English first, then?” Finn asked, checking his schedule. “That’s a plus, my aunt is the teacher.”
Jayde nodded, remembering when she looked at both their schedules that they had the same classes in the same order. "Is that weird for you?"
“I’m related to half the staff here. My grandpa is the vice principal, my other aunt is the principal, my uncle teaches Chemistry, my cousin is the Swim Coach, and my other uncle is the art teacher. There’s more, but that’s what I’m remembering at the moment.”
"Oh god." Jayde said, she couldn't imagine going to a school that was filled with her relatives. "How do you cope?"
“I don’t. It’s miserable, believe me, especially when most of your family sucks. But Luke isn’t that bad. He’s the Swim Coach, and he just graduated.”
"Will you have to come here if you don't run your parents law firm?"
“If I don’t want to be a disgrace. You either work here or at the law firm, and if you don’t, you’re no longer invited to family gatherings.”
"Oh my god, I couldn't possibly imagine living with only two choices. It's not really fair in my opinion but if you want to do it then don't let me tell you what."
“Never tell anybody this, because I would for real be kicked out of my house, but I’d much rather be an zoologist. Actually, teacher and lawyer are my bottom two career choices.”
"I understand, having everyone on the same career path in your family gets boring. Your secret's safe with me."
“Thanks.” Finn said, before muttering, “I’ll be kicked out anyway.”
"So where are the classes?" She asked looking around for the door to enter.
“This way.” Finn lead Jayde down the stairs and towards the dark chalkboard door with the word English written on it in chalk.
"Wow, why not a plaque on the side?" Jayde asked mostly to herself before opening it.
