( I- I absolutely adore him- And it's kind of freaky because I was 100% planning on the Captain trying to capture a Siren T^T )
( I- I absolutely adore him- And it's kind of freaky because I was 100% planning on the Captain trying to capture a Siren T^T )
(AKJDFLASJFDLJSADFKJASDF YES IM SO HAPPY ABOUT THAT!)
( WELL- THIS MAKES THINGS A LOT MORE CONVENIENT :DDD I was trying to hint at it with him like 'listening to the sea' or whatever, but he wanted to catch a siren and you just made my job a million times more interesting!! )
(i stayed up so late reading everyone's post to catch up haha. anyway though, i was thinking maybe since you said that the captain and pirates in general were superstitious to an extent, maybe they believe (and maybe its true idk) that capturing a siren will bring you good fortune or something? Kind of like how in Pirates of the Caribbean they captured the siren for her tears for the fountain of youth.)
(im glad i was able to help!!! i was lowkey worried you wouldn't be happy with him being a siren. I did change him up a tad for this roleplay so he can turn into a man when he wants to. to make things a lot easier haha XD)
( Oo- Good idea- I was definitely thinking more trophy-esque, but I can totally see how a good luck charm would be more.. Uhh. Narratively friendly. And it would make your character have an easier time with well- A pirate crew. )
(And yeah- That makes things WAY easier, but we have a crab man, a snake-ish guy, and a part sky-ship water ship. I think a siren will fit in nicely LOL )
(honestly we could go that route as well! What's a story without some struggles aye?)
(For the trophy, they could wait to kill him or something like that but maybe the captain takes a liking to him (or someone in the crew idk haha) so they decide to keep him as long as he works on this ship for him? OH or??? okay so Sirens travel in groups so they could have totally brought in more than one, killed some, some escape, and Orion is in the group? idk idk. sorry im totally brainstorming over here!)
(No, no this is great! We love brainstorming in this household! I like trying to catch a group, it also gives some reason for some drama if they try to kill or sell some of Orion's, well- I assume family?? If someone on the crew or the Captain himself, he's pretty weird so if Orion does literally anything to stand out, he'll probably be like 'oo- What's this?' Anything works really. This is fun :D )
(im glad you like the idea!! From what i've read of the captain (whom i love by the way!!!?!? like so well written omg. anyway) he seems like the kind of guy to do that. Thats why i thought of an idea like that bc it's the most realistic in this scenario. if that makes any sense at all XD)
(and yessss i love all the drama!! :D)
(For the trophy, they could wait to kill him or something like that but maybe the captain takes a liking to him (or someone in the crew idk haha) so they decide to keep him as long as he works on this ship for him?
(I immediately thought, "Good night, Westley, good work. Most likely kill you in the morning." XD XD XD )
( me already three paragraphs deep into a new post setting this up- Absolutely- It all makes sense :DD Any requests for how Orion gets introduced? Do you want to do some scene setting before he gets scooped up faster than Nemo was? )
(I immediately thought, "Good night, Westley, good work. Most likely kill you in the morning." XD XD XD )
(Omg- I took heavy inspiration from the Princess Bride and a few other works for the Captain. He's a Frankensteins monster of pirate tropes LOL )
(so for his introduction, im currently writing up a post for him. Since Inez cut herself on the ship, the group of sirens like smelled the blood or something and theyre on their way towards the ship to hunt. I feel like they would start to try to lure sailors into the waters, and while it may work to some extent, some of the sailors are able to throw down weighted nets and such, harpooning some, etc. Uhm everything else is up to you!)
The Captain finished with his bowl of stew, leaning back in his chair with a satisfied expression. He placed the bowl on the corner of his desk, away from the papers. Most of them were maps, all of the same area, some with little frantic scribbles on the sides and corners from previous owners. The area they were sailing into was highly treacherous, it was known for violent waters and rocks just under line of sight, felling boats as easily as plucking dandelions from a garden. Some crews made their fortunes just picking from the remains of other ships, going out to wrecks in little skiffs to get any surviving valuables. Or picking up surviving people and extorting them for free servitude or selling the bodies into slavery.
While the sunken treasures were tempting, any cargo other than watertight sealed chests were likely ruined. The area was also deadly for a third reason, perhaps the one that had truly killed the most sailors, privateers, pirates, or otherwise. Silver-Tongue was a firm believer in myths and legends, or at least in the fact that something had caused them. This particular area was famed for Sirens, creatures with a voice so beautiful it could cause sailors to fling themselves from the bow of their own ships. Only to be drowned below by the very same beings that so captivated them. Leaving their ships to drift on the open ocean, to be dashed against the rocks or float alone as a fabled ghost ship.
The Captain shuddered a bit, he'd seen men who'd heard the Sirens call and lived to tell the tale. They were only shells of their former selves, with sunken eyes and wistful expressions. Even surviving was a death sentence, most of those men didn't last long. Throwing themselves into the sea or wasting away. Only once had Axel met a man who'd gone on normally with his life, the only survivor of his ship, the man hadn't had any interest in well. Anyone. Man nor woman, the Sirens song seemed to hold no allure to him and he'd gone about his life as if nothing had happened. And other times men had wills strong enough to resist, at least briefly, there seemed to be a small window of time where you could hear the song, but still remain somewhat unscathed.
Still, these horror stories held the Captains fascination for the time being. He went through phases with different obsessions, some of his crew could still speak with haunted voices about the time Silver-Tongue had decided he wanted to hunt down the Kraken… This time would be different though. The Captain could feel it in his scales, he leaned back again, smirking. He'd call in Kavo in a few minutes, the Captain had chosen the town they'd docked at for its proximity to the isles that sailors swore up and down the Sirens called home. They'd change their course a little, slow down the ship to travel slower, but safer.
Silver-Tongue wasn't sure if he just wanted to see these creatures, kill one, or catch one. Part of him wondered if he just wanted to test his will against anothers. He'd take any of the three options, in all honesty. The crew seemed to have some inkling of what the tall man was planning, he'd heard some of the hushed conversations between them. The general opinion was split, some of the men wanted nothing to do with it, these were generally the newer hires and the other half were on board, wanting at least partly to see what all the fuss was about. Those men had lasted with the pirate Captain longer.
Checking his watch, a prize he'd taken from a military vessels captain, it was getting close to sun-down. The blood red light would provide a dramatic backdrop for tonight. The Captain emerged from his cabin again, a massive smile on his face. The man seemed genuinely excited, a spring in his step. Upon arriving on deck, he looked around, pursing his lips. The crew was moving with lethargy, which could be worrying, they'd worked all day. Clapping his hands to get everyone's attention, he looked around.
"Day-shift, end early. Go wake yer replacements. I want everyone fresh and ready fer the morning." Silver-Tongue wanted a rested crew manning the sails at all times, it was another reason he kept such a large crew, to make switching out easier. The men looked pleased, the ones with pressing jobs sending a friend to go wake their replacement, so they could hand the job over smoothly.
The Captain stood by the railing, hands on the wood. He looked into the distance, watching the sunset, the thoughts running through his brain were of a different time and a different ship, being hit by a wave of nostalgia. The lapping of the water on the ships hull a sound he'd grown so used to tuning out, a companion to his thoughts.
(woahhhh hes so cool! and very convenient for the setting)
(i also love how it all ties in nicely :))
Just as Inez had emerged to wreak havoc, she noticed Captain Silver-Tounge, out watching something. She squinted- he could also be looking at nothing. He looked unfocused, though she decided that then may not be the time to cause chaos, out of respect for her job. It was tempting, though. Maybe later.
Even if she couldn't do anything now, Inez had overheard whispers and the captain's own word, caught the face he'd made- she wasn't there long, but as someone who also had a similar reaction to their own mischievous thoughts, it was enough to say that something was going on. Something was going to happen, at least. She suspected he'd drag it out longer, and almost convinced herself it was only to torture her. Whether or not this was subjective didn't matter to Inez. She glanced out and noticed the red sun, peering through thick clouds. She looked over the ship, the railing. The water looked disturbed, but it seemed unlikely to rain. No, it was something else. She didn't often notice anything, and maybe it was just a sort of sixth sense from living outside, by the sea for the vast majority of her memory- but setting that aside, that only went to show the difference from then and a few hours prior.
Orion slithers calmly through the black abyss of the ocean, dark figures of his own race following in behind him as the sun set into the horizon.
His eyes scan the ocean floor before approaching a large vessel as the red sun and the moonlight shines through the surface. The sea foam from the surface reflects large white shapes along his tail and along the tails of others as they glide through the tide alongside him.
His head snaps to the side and his eyes wide with intent at an all too familiar scent.
Human blood.
The others must have scented it too, as they all begin to clamor about. Mutterings of high pitched voices could be heard from miles as at least 50 sirens huddle together in a group, planning before their attack.
Orion huddles next to his best friend, a smaller siren with pale skin, wide black eyes and an eel like tail with barbs at the end.
“Psst” Orion nudges his side. He flicks his attention towards his friend, looking rather grumpy.
“You don't have to be a part of it this time if you don't want to” He offers
The siren shakes his head, his long black hair flowing softly around his body and face. “Its fine” he says, his voice soft and quiet. His demeanor was more submissive than anything.
Orion sighs “Look Liyas…ill bring down two men. One for me, one for you” he says, more worried than anything.
“Fine. But make sure he’s hot.” he rolls his black void-like eyes as he lets out a soft chuckle.
“Stay away from the surface and you should be-” Orion was interrupted with the soft humming of the sirens as they near the impressive vessel.
It was large, but unlike anything else Orion had ever seen.
He looks back to Liyas, who was staying where he was without a sound to escape his lips. Giving eachother a reassuring nod, Orion turns away from him and starts towards the moonlit surface.
Once he emerges from the surface, Orion is greeted by a strong gust of wind, causing his blonde hair to stick to his face. He swiped his hair from his face and breathing in the fresh, yet cold air of the night.
Clouds swirl around the sky overhead and the red sun
His eyes dart around to the other sirens peaking their heads out of the water as they circle the ship.
Now…they start to sing.
Soft melodies harmonize with one another in different languages creating an eerie affect as the soft waves lap over each other.
Ooh i bid farewell to the port and the land~
And i swim away from Great England's sands-
Orion joins in soon after they start.
Some sirens sing as some hum to themselves while swimming around underneath, searching for weak spots in the crew.
Most sailors would recognize the song's lyrics, but the tone was slowed down to a soft, melodical hymn to lure the men to their deaths.
-to search for my long ago forgotten friends…
To search for the place I hear all sailors end
As the souls of the dead fill the space of my mind
I'll search without sleeping 'til peace I can find
I fear not the weather, I fear not the sea
I remember the fallen, do they think of me?
When their bones in the ocean forever will be
(agh Wednesdays are incredibly busy for me but this is all going so well!)
“Fine. But make sure he’s hot.” he rolls his black void-like eyes as he lets out a soft chuckle.
(i live for this roleplay, its those kinds of lines that get me)
(BAHAHAHAH i didn't think anyone would pay attention to that XD)
(Ahhh- I love all of this so much. Wednesdays are also super busy for me, so I'll probably just outline my response and post it tomorrow- But, initial impression- I love Orion, and that line made me ugly laugh so thumbs up XD )
(guys im gonna cry TT^TT yall are too sweet!)
(ok then how dare you make such a good character 😡(please dont cry 😡))
