“So, we’re alone now,” Charlotte says to Grim. Then se looks at everyone else. “We should go in a different direction and barricade the doors leading to the outside. It might speed up the process. If we all stick together, we might be able to watch each other’s backs.”
He gets only a few steps away, before he charges, stabbing it in the side. It screeches, and nails him in the side with it's claws. He sweeps it's leg tripping it, and it almost falls, struggling to catch it's footing. He pulls the weapon out, and stabs it again, this time in the throat, with all his weight, which sends it toppling to the ground, and buried his weapon in further. It squalls, failing to cry out in it's death throes. Tragic, really.
"You can come out now, Carro."
Carro peeks around the corner. "Huh. That's new." Gesturing to the fallen beast, he picks his way carefully over to Dis. "Should we continue?"
Arie looks out the door, thoughtful, as the rest of the group talks. So none of us know where we came from or how we got here. There have to be answers around here somewhere… Her thoughts trail off and she hugs Spice closer to her chest.
"Guy," she says suddenly, turning to face the others. "How about we go try to find some answers?"
Charlotte nodded.
"Yeah, like you said, there must be answers around here somewhere. We just have to look harder." Arie gave her a confused look as if there was something wrong with what Charlotte said.
"I, uh, never actually said that…" Arie explains, her voice trailing off.
Charlotte froze, staring at Arie in shock.
"But I heard you…?" she whispered, confused.
"I mean… I thought it," Arie said, "but you couldn't have heard that…"
"You must've said it out loud," Charlotte insisted. "Sometimes it slips out without us knowing."
Arie looked at Charlotte oddly. "Uh, no. I really don't think I did…"
Charlotte frowned.
"Strange… I really… heard you say that…" but she shook her head. "We're wasting our time. We should get moving before more demons sprang up."
Just as she said that and turned around, they heard a snarl. And from the shadows, sprang a large demon. It was black, with red eyes. It looked like a wolf, except a very oversized wolf. Saliva dripped from his mouth, its teeth razor sharp. Its claws were red as if tinted with blood. It cocked its head, looking at Charlotte to Arie to everyone else. Then it lunged.
Arie gasped and her eyes widened in fright when she saw the monster. Suddenly, a lamp flew from one of the small tables and hit it on the head, knocking it out. Looking around to see who had thrown it, she saw no one.
"Who threw that?" she questioned.
Charlotte looked at Arie, shocked. She wasn't so sure, but she couldn't mistake it. The same thing happened earlier, with the mantis. But she didn't say anything, not in front of anyone else. Arie probably didn't want anyone else to know.
"We should kill it," she said instead, hesitant. "I have a pocket knife… It might wake up and attack again if we don't do anything about it."
