“Alright, come or he dies, it’s as simple as that. See you soon, Kinesie.” Matt said before hanging up the phone.

Kasey groaned angrily as she tossed her phone on the bed.

"I can't believe it. Quake, what am I supposed to do? I can't go, or else my cover will be blown. But if I don't go, then Liam will get hurt. Or killed," she rambled, turning onto her stomach to bury her face in her pillows.

Harper heard a muffled scream come from Kasey's room and quickly put down his book to run there. Throwing the door open, he saw his sister with her face in a pillow and her kitten by her side.

"What is it? What happened? Did Liam break up with you?" he asked frantically, sitting down next to her. "I swear, if he broke up with you because you stopped him from going too far, I'll…"

"Stop, just stop," Kasey groaned as she sat up. When she looked at her brother, her eyes were puffy and red. "He didn't break up with me. But he might, once he finds out I'm Kinesie. He's been kidnapped, Harper, and they're demanding that I, as Kinesie, come to save him."

Liam struggled more in the chair and the man let go, Matt turning to Liam, throwing his phone to the side, “She’s not Kinesie, you’re insane Matt! What are you thinking?! She won’t come and get me.”

Matt walked over and punched him in the face, leaving him with a split lip. He leaned down and leant on the arms of the chair, “She is Kinesie, and she will come get you. She won’t let you die-“

“She might! You don’t know that, I’d rather die then put her in the position.”

“Well, lucky for you, if she isn’t here in an hour then you will.”

Harper sighed and ran a hand through his hair as he watched his sister pacing her bedroom.

"What am I going to do, Harper? I can't save him, but I can't not save him," Kasey said as she tapped her fingers against her arm, still pacing. "Ugh, what am I supposed to do?!?"

"You save him," Harper said softly. He walked over to her and placed his hands on her arms. "Go save him. I'll be your backup. We've still got those mini-mics; we can use those to communicate."

Kasey's eyes searched her brother's face for a moment before she nodded. "Okay. Okay, yeah, let's do it."

“How reassuring…” Liam muttered which earned him another hit in the face, giving him a black eye.

“You know, there a few things I’ve wanted to try out, knew weapons I made. While we wait, you can be my test dummy.” Matt said, taking his coat off.

Liam swallowed but his eyes showed no fear, “Do it, I dare you.” He hissed.

Matt laughed, “Fine then.”

Kasey and Harper got their things together and raced out the door as quickly as they could. They took Harper's truck and started toward the warehouse Kasey was supposed to get Liam from.

Climbing into the back of the truck, Kasey pulled a screen over the windows to change. She had to wear her suit. Right?

Soon, they were almost there, and Kasey was sitting in the front seat again. She tapped her foot impatiently, her eyes unable to stay focused on one thing.

In the time it took for Kasey to get there, Liam had sustained a quite large count of cuts, bruises and burns. They’ll removed his shirt at some point but he’d blacked out a couple times and couldn’t remember it.

“Boss, there’s a truck. It’s Kasey and another guy.” One of the men said and Matt backed away from Liam.

“Good. Looks like you aren’t going to die today, Liam.” Matt said, smirking.

Kasey bit her lip as they pulled up. What if she couldn't save him? What if they'd already killed him? What if they killed him anyway? What if, what if, what if…

"Hey, Kase, it'll be okay," Harper assured her, taking one of her hands in his. He gave it a gentle squeeze and smiled softly at her. "You can do this. I believe in you. Plus, I'll be right here." He tapped her earpiece, and she rolled her eyes at him.

"Thanks, Harper," she sighed, looking out at the building. "I suppose I should go now."

"Yeah, get out of here, and go save your boyfriend, already," Harper laughed, pushing on her shoulder to get her to leave.

Matt splashed a bottle of water on Liam and he hissed at the pain that shot through his body, “Stay awake. I want you to at least look at her once.” Matt said coldly.

Standing behind Liam, hands clasped behind his back he waited with a smug grin on his face.

Kasey stepped up to the building, using her powers to open the door. Walking inside, she saw Liam, and her fierce façade wavered. She glared at the man behind him, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Let him go," she demanded.

Liam new that voice, he heard it a few hours ago, “No… no please no…”

His muttering earned him a hit in the head and he groaned.

“Ah, how nice of you to join us, Kinesie or is it Kasey? I can’t decide which name to use,” Matt said, standing beside Liam, “He’s not dead, not yet but close to it. I told him you’d come but he didn’t believe me.”

Kasey flinched at Liam's voice, hearing what he said. She couldn't have told him, not without risking her cover being blown. But here she was, cover blown and her boyfriend hurt because of what she did.

"Just let him go," she demanded through her teeth. She stepped forward, raising things with her mind as she did so.

Matt tutted, “Now, where would the fun be in that? You’re quite attatched to him, aren’t you? Shame his injuries won’t heal for a while, they’ll scar too, I wonder what he’ll think about that…”

"I swear, you will pay for what you've done to him," Kasey declared, the things she was finding growing into a spinning mass behind her. "Just let him go, and we can finish this. Whatever this is."

“All I want, is you and your stupid superhero friend dead so this,” He pointed between them both, “Won’t stop until that happens,” He clicked his fingers and two guys came out, guns in hand, “Now, let’s get this over and done with.”

The guys shot at her.

Kasey flicked a hand, and the bullets swept around her.

"What do you mean, my 'superhero friend'?" she asked, sending something from her mass at the two guys with guns.

“Friend, brother, whatever. Harper, I assume he is with you.” Matt said.

The guys ducked for cover, only just missing the mass by an inch. Liam struggled in the ropes as best he could, with no luck of getting free and just hurting himself more.

"How do you know his name? How do you know my name?" Kasey demanded, her hands clenched into fists as she sent another round of objects toward the goons.

This time the objects hit the guys and pinned them to the ground. Another few came out and started to shoot at Kasey.

“I’ve been watching you for a while now, Kasey.” Matt said, walking behind Liam and adding another cut to his shoulder.

Kasey winced when she saw Matt cut Liam again, her hesitation gaining her a cut on her arm from one of the bullets. She sent a few things from her mass at the guys and started walking closer to Matt and Liam.

"Just let him go, and you can have me. I won't even put up a fight," she offered.

“Now where’s the fun in that?” Matt tutted, adding a matching cut to Liam’s other shoulder.

“Matt, stop it. Stop this… please.” Liam said with his remaining strength.

“Looks like your boyfriend is trying to protect you. Even if he is in the worser situation. I should have him killed now, you’d find someone else in no time if I don’t kill you now, Kasey.”

"Stop it. Just stop it. If you want a fight, I'll give you a fight. Just let. Him. Go," Kasey demanded, a metal pole from her spinning collection of items flying into her open hand. She pointed it at Matt with fire in her eyes.

“He’s not going anywhere.” Matt said coldly, grabbing his own gun and pointing it at Kasey and shooting.

Kasey sucked in a breath as the bullet nearly hit her, then swept to the side. She slammed her pole into the gun, hoping to dislodge it from Matt's hands.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked. "What could make you want to hurt people so much?"

“A number of things. But you… supers are too powerful, there needs to be balance ad you are upsetting that.” Matt said, getting in one more shot before the pole hit him square in the chest, him and the gun falling backwards.
