"Playing games with kids isn't my favorite thing to do." Kiania said, turning to look at Adrielle. "So I'm unfortunately cutting this short. We've all got mom issues. Congrats on letting yours get to you, kid. Now for the love of Thor, take the bad energy elsewhere and figure out your shit."
Nat stood defensively. "You aren't allowed to talk about my family," Nat hissed to Adrielle.
“Aren’t I?” Adrielle laughed. “I don’t see who you are to tell me what I can and cannot do.”
Nat gritted her teeth. "Stop it with your magic. Fight me fist to fist. Then we'll see who can demand what."
Kiania cleared her throat, shooting Nat a meaningful look. "Do not start this shit again. Something tells me Strange won't hesitate to boot both of your asses, though I can't say I blame him with that one." She jerked her head in Adrielle's direction.
Adrielle rolled her eyes. “I never used my little light show ability. You should know- oh wait, you wouldn’t, because you were too busy crying.”
"Because I'm a human!" Nat snarled. "We feel emotions! My mom died to save the f*cking universe. And I miss her, alright? I'm sorry that's a weakness!"
“You should be,” Adrielle sniffed. “Humans are weak.”
Lucky bastard. At least she actually has someone who cared about her enough for her to love her. At least she can actually miss people.
"Half of us wouldn't be here without my mother!" Nat yelled. Her nails dug dug deep into her palms.
Adrielle gave a slow, mocking clap. “Well, how wonderful. I suppose you’re proud of her.”
Kianai stepped over to Nat, placing an arm around her shoulders the way she had with Eliza, comforting and a way to keep her there at the same time. "Five seconds."
She stiffened at the contact.
“What’s it like?” Adrielle asked mockingly. “Being proud of someone who did almost nothing? She died too soon. You know, I almost wish that Thanos had wiped her out. That way, you wouldn’t be here.”
"Five seconds." Kiania repeated to Nat, squeezing her shoulders before letting go and stepping forward. "You really, really need to leave."
"She didn't do nothing you asshole!" Nat yelled. She let Kiania step in front of her. Tears pricked her eyes again.
“Of course she did something,” Adrielle said dismissively. “She was alive, after all, and she did kill all those people after the Red Room.”
"And yet, she still made an effort to right those wrongs." Kiania said, taking another step forward. "That's what makes a hero."
“Right,” Adrielle said with an eye roll. “A hero. How grand. People act like it’s a big deal but it’s really not.”
"And what exactly do you know about being a hero?" Kiania raised an eyebrow, resting her hands on her hips.
Adrielle smirked. “Well, I tried to be a hero one time. Didn’t work out so well.”
"Ah, so you quit as soon as things got hard." Kiania nodded in understanding, raising an eyebrow.
“No, I quit as soon as I realized that I wasn’t wanted.”
"You think I was wanted as a hero? People fear the unknown, that's been a known fact to every hero with abilities out there." Kiania said, motioning to herself. "You just took the stereotypical villain route."
“Stereotypical villain? I am many things, but not that.”
