(ok. I gtg for a while. I got a new phone today, so i won't be super active i don't think)
Nik squeezed Eclipse's hand gently, then let go. He needed both hands to wield his cane and sword. He let out a cry as a sword slashed into his left leg, tearing through the still healing scar, and he went to his knees, unable to remain standing. He fought as well as he could from a kneeling position, but it wasn't long before first his cane was torn from his hands, then his sword, leaving him defenseless.
did his best to defend the other, but was soon overwhelmed by the surmounting forces, taking a beating before finally tripping over a corpse and falling back, knocking the air out of his lungs and giving the attackers the chance to pin him down completely as he dissolved into a coughing fit, struggling to get air back into his lungs.
Nik was coughing. He reached for Eclipse's hand, wanting to at least have that before he was killed. Their attackers laughed, and tied the two princes up, and picked them up to carry them away. Nik flailed and squirmed in their grip, trying his best to get out.
Eclipse struggled too, but was mostly overwhelmed by his own coughing, finding it hard to stop. When he finally did his throat, and head hurt, yet still he kicked and squirmed to get away, "What do you want with us??" he yelled.
There was no response from the men who had taken them. Nik felt the monster clawing at him from the inside, and he coughed again. No. No no no no no. He thought desperately. I can't lose control now. I can't.
Eclipse gave up, knowing he was too weak to make struggling any kind of effective at the moment as they were carried away from the carnage that was the campsite. He knew looking back that no one would realize that they were still alive, and he knew that things might just go to shit before they could escape these maniacs.
Nik went limp, focusing all his fight on containing the monster. Sure, it would break through these ropes with no problem, but then it would slaughter and eat everyone here, including Eclipse. He didn't want that.
Eclipse sighed softly, waiting as they were taken to a kind of make shift camp in the woods not far from the now battle site. He and Nik were thrown to the ground near a campfire, everyone around them beginning to mock the two princes, at which Eclipse's wolf side showed a little more, forcing him to let out an animalistic growl.
Nik let out a soft groan when his injured leg hit the ground, and he curled up a little, fresh blood leaking out from his wounds. Ash streaked his face, and he was coughing still from all the smoke he had inhaled. The men laughed. One prodded Nikolas in the ribs with a foot as he said something to his comrades.
Eclipse growled again when they began taunting Nikolas, his struggling to escape the bindings renewed, hating the fact that he was bound when the trees and wilderness around them called to him, when he soulmate needed protecting. His eyes flashed with a defiance he didn't normally show as he struggled to get free, coughing still as he tried to clear his lungs of smoke.
Nik didn't have much energy left to even try to resist, and he just flinched away from the men, coughing and sucking in ragged breaths of air. The men snickered to each other, at both princes. A leader came over and said something to them in a different language, and the men split away.
Eclipse growled wolfishly as they left, squirming to try and loosen the ropes somehow, but he only succeeded in making the bindings dig further into his injuries, eventually forcing him to give up, his attention flicking to Nik, "You okay?" he asked worriedly, his voice raspy from the coughing and smoke.
"Okay." Nik rasped, taking a deep breath. "Just…they cut the scar on my leg open. I don't think I can walk." he swallowed dryly, wishing desperately for some water for his dry throat. He sighed, resting his head on the ground. "You?" he asked, peeking over at Eclipse from the corner of his eye.
"Okay…..ish.." he said softly, coughing again, "Kinda mad, a little sad, definitely in pain, and I can't get the taste of blood out of my mouth.." he sighed, rolling up against the other, "But at least we can say we're alive?"
Nik nodded. "Yeah." he agreed. He rolled over and leaned his head on Eclipse's chest, closing his eyes tiredly. "I'm tired…but I can't sleep like this." he shook his head a little. And…my father… He bit his lip slightly, feeling like he would cry if he thought about what had happened to his father.
Eclipse did his best to let the other use him as a pillow, sighing, and then coughing, sadly. "You probably should.. otherwise we'll never recover enough to escape….." he said softly, "I know it's been a long day…. but we need sleep.."
"I don't want to sleep." Nik mumbled. He lost control the most when he was asleep. He needed to be chained up with special chains when he slept, to keep the monster from breaking loose. Here, he only had flimsy ropes too easily broken.
"Nik…" Eclipse watched him worriedly, wondering of there was possibly another reason for him not to sleep. "I'm not going to let you stay up by yourself.." he said finally, letting his head fall back against the ground.
(i gtg to bed soon-ish)
"I can't sleep, Eclipse. I…" Nik trailed off. "I sometimes…" he shook his head a little. I may as well. "I turn into a monster." he blurted. "When I…when I sleep sometimes. And I can't control it, and…and if I turn, I'll kill you and everyone in this camp, and probably eat you too."
(Thanks for the heads up!)
Eclipse forced himself not to tense up at that, wishing he had some way to help him, "Oh…." was all he was able to muster up as a response, not sure how to respond to that as he tried to think of a way to avoid it. "Is… Is there any way to stop it?" he asked softly.
(np!)
Nik shook his head. "I had chains back at camp that Aron would bind me in every night to keep me from getting out, but…those chains were the only things that could hold me, and now…" he sighed. "These ropes won't do anything but annoy it."
Eclipse frowned worriedly, both for him, and the other, "Have…. Have you ever tried magical spells?" he asked softly, wondering if he could possibly come up with a powerful enough enchantement to stop it.
"They don't work. The monster is…is because I was cursed, so it doesn't…magic doesn't affect it." Nik replied quietly, closing his golden eyes and resting his head on Eclipse's chest still.
"What kind of curse?" asked Eclipse softly, wishing he had some kind of solution, wishing he could hug the other, comfort him somehow…
