Luna stumbled back only a foot. Her eyes were trained on him, even though it had been a year, the assassin hadn't lost much in the way of muscle mass and memory. If anything she had gained some. She didn't attempt to charge back in at him.
Cyrus lunged forwards and started to swing, but he accidentally caught the blade on Luna's sword. The impact was so jarring that it broke the sword's hilt loose from his hand, and the blade flew a few feet behind Luna and slid for several feet more. He had gasped a little at first, just because he was startled. This two-handed wielding was still somewhat new to him, but there was no harm in trying to take advantage of his strength.
Luna watched as the blade flew out of Cyrus's hands. She held in her laugh, as she dropped one of her blades and moved a hand to her mouth. Her other hand lifted up and gently poked Cyrus in the chest, "D-do I win?"
"I mean, yeah. If this were a real fight against an enemy, I'd likely just be dead," Cyrus replied, walking to go pick up the blade."I-I haven't been working with two-handed swords very long, if you couldn't tell…"
He bent over to grab it, then saw a distinct line going with the grain of the wood. He sighed.
"I broke it…"
Luna nodded as a small laugh sputtered out. Her other hand dropping the blade to cover her face further, "I c-can tell. I guess you're t-too strong for that sword."
"I don't think any wooden sword is quite strong enough to withstand being chucked across a room that hard. It was probably already beaten up a good bit too. I'll just grab another one if you want to keep going."
Cyrus took his blade and dropped it in a bin where there were a few other broken weapons left for repairs and recycling.
Luna reached down and grabbed her two blades, "Of c-course we can keep going. L-let's just hope you don't break another s-sword."
"That's only the third time I've done that since I started training two-handed," Cyrus laughed, "It's been a good two months.
He grabbed another blade off the wall.
"Okay, for real this time."
Luna nodded and lifted her blades into a ready position, "Th-three blades in three months. M-must be a record."
"Perhaps…" Cyrus said.
He stepped forwards into his first swing at Luna and made sure he had a firm grip this time. He aimed low, around thigh-height, and put his body into the swing as well so he could duck away from any chest-up attacks if needed.
Luna saw where the swing was heading and quickly jumped back out from the range of his swing. Cyrus may have strength, but Luna had speed on her side. She thrust her blade towards his foot.
Cyrus swung his blade sideways to deflect, also taking a clumsy step back so that the worst he got was a graze. He thrust the sword back out to push Luna away again, then immediately went in for a follow-up attack, bringing the blade in a horizontal arc towards her waist.
Luna barely blocked the first thrust as she took a step back. It wasn't the greatest plan, but she attempted to block the second attack by deflecting it away from her body. It didn't work and the blade grazed her as she continued to move back. She took a second before thrusting one blade towards his chest, while the other swung at his lower torso.
Cyrus had to make a choice on the fly; Either dodge and risk getting hit by both blades, or get hit by one but deflect the other. He made a huge, arcing "get-off-me" motion with the sword, choosing to first knock away what was coming at his chest, and then only hoping the complete motion might be enough to knock the blade by his torso off with part of the hilt. It wasn't enough, but he did manage to at least deflect one strike.
Luna's second blade made contact and that gave her an opportunity to take that first blade and swing it again at his lower legs. Her body also ducking down taking the second blade to swing in on the other side.
Cyrus then took a different approach. He leaped back and took a big swing forwards. While the blades made some impact and probably bruised, he had avoided the worst of it.
(I have to go for a bit. I'll be back later if you're still here.)
(I probably will be lol.)
Luna rolled back away from Cyrus to avoid the arch of his blade. She stayed close to the ground her blades crossed in front of her incase he decided to strike again.
Cyrus made a crushing strike towards Luna; if she had speed on her side and two swords to defend, he'd just have to break through those defenses entirely. He brought down the edge where her blades were crossed, hoping to disarm her or at least stagger her.
Luna wasn't even aware as she rolled off to his other side. She swung one of daggers at his legs and was more then ready to go and dodge once again.
Cyrus felt the dagger hit his leg, and he staggered back a little bit. He seriously needed to think this through more… This new technique, while more suitable for his physical strength, was not good for his style of thinking, which was very cautious and planned.
Cyrus hung back for a few moments. He could already feel where bruises would be formed by tomorrow.
Luna took his moment of pause to go and charge at him, aiming a dagger to his neck and a dagger to his heart. This could work, or it could go horribly wrong. She hoped the risk would go in her favor, but highly doubted it.
Cyrus was surprised by the sudden spike in aggression, but nevertheless held up his sword to block. His reaction was fast enough to stop the chest strike, but the other dagger still hit his neck. He stopped in his tracks and let one hand off his sword, then put one hand over his neck. That hurt…
Luna pulled her blades back and looked to Cyrus wide eyed. She backed away from Cyrus slightly, "S-sorry. S-so sorry. I-I didn't- S-sorry."
"I'm fine," Cyrus said with a reassuring smile, "There's a reason we use these, you know."
"R-right," Luna said with a look of pure guilt on her face, "I-I didn't mean to hit y-you that forcefully. S-sorry."
