"I d-don't know," Luna said looking away, "I wasn't s-sure if I would m-make it this far. S-so I guess j-just focus on living?"
"I d-don't know," Luna said looking away, "I wasn't s-sure if I would m-make it this far. S-so I guess j-just focus on living?"
"Me too…" Cyrus said, "I kind of regretted asking the question as soon as it escaped my mouth. I just want to be happy…"
"Y-yeah, that sounds like a good plan," Luna said quietly. She wanted to trust people again, find another little animal friend, just try to return back to normal as she could at this point. Even thought she was far at this moment.
Zelda came bounding across the room, her little white paws treading quietly on the training mats. She meowed loudly. Cyrus turned to her.
"What could you possibly want?"
She meowed again, and he meowed back louder.
Luna laughed quietly at the pair. She had a small soft smile on her face, it didn't feel like she had left. In fact she could almost feel Zoe right beside her. Except Zoe was dead, Snowdrop was dead, and everything she had a legitimate emotional attachment to is dead. And Luna was reminded of the emptiness inside her.
Zelda was somewhat aware of the negative emotions pouring from Luna, and she plopped down right next to her. Cyrus kept a steady, soft gaze upon Luna. He was afraid for her, but he was even more afraid to bring it up.
Luna smiled over at Zelda, she enjoyed the small tuxedo cats presence. Luna exhaled through her nose quietly, she would get better. Maybe finally tell someone, probably not. Probably never. Not if she was left to her own.
I'll write a note to her later so she doesn't feel pressured to say anything, Cyrus thought to himself, kind of fiddling with his thumbs. He didn't speak for a good minute, just kind of lost in thoughts of what he should do, if he should speak.
"You're never alone," he managed, "Please, no matter what you do, don't isolate yourself or feel like you can't make yourself at home here again. God knows what you've seen… but don't let that stop you. You deserve to live a happy life too."
Luna looked over at him slightly surprised. She never really expected this to come from Cyrus, but then again it made some sense. She managed a tiny smile, "I-I… O-of course. Th-thank you Cyrus. D-dios I hate this stutter."
"I-I know…" Cyrus muttered, "I'm sorry you have to go through this…"
He was holding so much back- stuff that only Eira had really seen, as she was the only one here when Zoe had died and Luna was assumed dead. He had kind of glossed over it, tried to forget about it. Yet now Luna was back. He had never truly gotten over her or Zoe or Zhavia, or anyone in his life who had passed for that matter.
"I-It's probably nothing compared to the g-grief I put you through," Luna said quietly. Zhavia had died a week or so before they left, then Zoe died and along with her 'Luna.' They ended up dead at the worst time possible for any of the mentally. Luna sighed and she said with a quiet laugh, "Y-ya know, on the w-way here I didn't h-have a stut-ter. I-It's interesting how it a-appeared."
"Well, you weren't with anyone on the way here, were you? You wouldn't have had any reason to talk. And… I had assumed… Well.. I… forgive me for bringing it up, whether it's true or not… I thought maybe- possibly…? You had gone through some sort of psychological trauma. That can do it. It's not common, but it happens." Cyrus shifted his weight a little bit.
"And don't you dare blame what I've felt on yourself. Grief is normal. Eira grieved over you too. What I experience is often beyond that. It's not a normal or proportional reaction to things that have happened. No one can change that about me, and it sure as hell has not been people's faults for dying or being in bad situations like yours. I feel so goddamn guilty as it is for making you guys feel bad about things… I don't mean to, and I swear I'm not trying to be manipulative if it ever comes across that way."
"N-no, its fine. I just can't i-imagine what you were p-put through emotional. And I-I think I-I might've g-gone through s-some, but I-I'm not sure," the more she thought about, the worse her stutter got. She felt her body start shuttering and she curled up into a smaller figure,
Cyrus felt his heart rate go up a little bit. He wasn't helping…
"Luna?" he whispered, his voice cracking a little bit. "Um…"
For a little bit, he couldn't decide what to say.
Luna tried to control her breathing. It takes her a few minutes, but she managed to do it, "I-I'm fine."
Cyrus bit down on his lower lip a little. He felt like crying because he understood. But he'd frozen up in a time of need and did exactly nothing.
He just wanted to tell her that it wasn't fine. Sure, in the broader scope of things, she wasn't in immediate danger, she wasn't dying… but she wasn't fine. She should never have to feel like that. No one should.
"Are you though?" Cyrus asked, biting at his lip again.
Luna thought for a second, Cyrus had been nothing but kind. She let out a sigh and looked away, maybe this was how she started. Started down the road to becoming friends again and reacclimating to the group. She said in a barely audible voice, "N-no."
"Alright, so you've admitted there's something wrong. I'm here. I won't judge you. You can tell me everything you're comfortable with without fear. If you don't want to talk, you can write me letters or any other form of communicating how you're feeling and what's going on up there," Cyrus reassured her, "I'm sorry I pried so hard, but… it may be what you needed. At least I hope it is."
"I-I think s-so too," Luna responded quietly, "T-talking about it is h-hard. L-letters maybe?"
"Of course, whatever works for you," Cyrus said softly, "Just write to me what you can, when you can, whenever you're ready to do so."
Luna nodded, she slowly stood up forcing her knew not to wobble, "I-I'll do that. W-we should go back to Sparrow."
"Alright," Cyrus replied. He stood up quickly and offered her a hand to take if she so needed.
Luna took his hand and pulled herself up, "Th-thank you," she took a deep breath before walking out of the training room on her own. Making her way back to Sparrow.
Cyrus went back down the stairs with Luna, down into the bunker where Sparrow was.
"Hey, still looking at those designs? How is it coming along?"
(Same lol)
"See anything you like?" She asked luna
