He hums. “Good. That means you have self love…” he smiles.
He hums. “Good. That means you have self love…” he smiles.
Meg raised a brow at the comment but nodded thoughtfully. “I never really thought about it like that. I just meant that your art is beautiful.” she explained.
He chuckles. “Well its a drawing of you…so…youre calling yourself beautiful. As you should.”
Meg nearly giggled and shook her head. “It's the way you drew me that I was complimenting.” she countered. “I'm rather plain.”
He rolls his eyes. “Oh please.” He smiles, “I drew you from memory. From how i saw you. And i drew you as is.”
“And that is impressive but I still believe that you may have been generous.” she smiled back.
He shakes his head, laughing.
Meg blushed, trying not to laugh with him at how silly their little argument was.
He chuckles, “well. If youre not busy tomorrow, would you like to take a stroll with me?”
“I would like that.” Meg nodded with a sincere smile. “Would tomorrow afternoon suit you? I am supposed to help my mother bake in the morning.”
He nods. “Of course.” He hums, relaxing a little. She was so sweet. At least he could have a friend outside of the palace. “Maybe I should stop by your mothers bakery someday.”
“Thank you.” she said gratefully, glad to have met someone so kind. “You would certainly be welcome to visit. My mother would love to meet such a gentleman as yourself.”
He smiles brightly, then tenses as he hears a few royal guards approaching. They were early…he stands. “I need to go. Ill see you tomorrow!” He rushes off once more.
Meg returned his smile before he stood up. She had to admit it was strange that he kept having to run off when the guards started appearing. And he didn't seem like a criminal or anything. But as she left the fountain and headed home, she decided she would ask him about that tomorrow.
The next day, Aaron walks into Meg’s shop, looking around and smiling. It smelled amazing. Freshly baked bread and other goods. He takes a deep breath and hums softly.
“Oh, hello, sir. What can I help you with?” a kind-looking older woman asked as she brought out a basket of fresh bread.
He smiles at the woman. “Hello madam. I met your lovely daughter a couple of days ago and I was wondering if I may take her on a stroll this evening. I was also curious about this lovely bakery you have.” He adjusts his gloves, putting his hands behind his back.
“Oh! You're the young man that she drew.” Meg’s mother smiled. “She doesn't know I saw the pictures but I have to say that the drawing of her was very well done.” she chuckled. “She should be here in just a moment. Feel free to look around while you wait.”
He bows slightly, thanking the woman and looking around the bakery.
When Meg walked in she was carrying what looked to be a fairly heavy load of firewood but she was not showing much strain for the weight of it.
(Sorry i was gone! I was super busy!)
Aaron turns and smiles. “Would you like any help? You do seem to be doing just fine on your own, but I at least want to offer.”
(no worries!)
“Oh, Aaron!” she exclaimed, fortunately managing not to drop any of the wood. “I wasn't expecting you so soon.” Meg apologized before shaking her head. “Thank you for your offer but I can handle these.”
He smiles softly and nods. “Let me know if you change your mind.” He looks towards Megs mother. “I’d like to purchase these, please.” He holds up two croissants.
Meg smiles back, blushing softly. “I’ll be right back.” she says as she takes the wood to the next room.
“Oh, no charge for you today, my good man.” Meg’s mother beams. “It's been so long since my daughter spent time with anyone. I was afraid she would turn into a hermit before too much longer.”
Aaron laughs softly. “Well then, thank you madam.” He smiles brightly, placing them in his bag. At least she wouldn’t see just how much money he brought. He didn’t want any more suspicions.
