“Not sure. I’m new too but I really hope it is,” she said looking straight ahead.

“Okay, we’re here!” Max called out enthusiastically, stopping to gesture at a place that looked a bit like an old-fashioned soda shoppe. He clearly loved the place, even though its exterior looked slightly run-down.

(don't mind me just describing the place a bit just so I could write more)
Gavriel observed the diner looking place noticing how the sign was slightly tilted and one of the neon lights in the letter was flickering a bit. The paint in the parking lot looked faded, almost nonexistent and the exterior wood was cut up a bit. A couple of initials were scratched into the bottom of the wood, some with hearts around them and others just by themselves. It looked as if the place was loved before but slowly fell out of favor with the public. When he opened the door, he heard a jingle sound and looked up, seeing a small bell announcing their arrival. Inside, there were checkered tiles and vibrant silver and red stools. There was a small island in the middle where people could be directly served and mini booths along the sides of the walls.
"Which ones should we sit at?" He asked, not knowing what to do with his hands. He saw that each seating place had a menu placed neatly on with ketchup and mustard bottles in the middle. There was also a silver container for napkins in the same spot, next to salt and pepper shakers. Gavriel got an old 30's vibe, especially with the light jazz playing in the background.

“I like the one by the window,” Max suggested, pointing at one of the tables next to a window. It looked like one of the cleaner tables in the place. Max walked over to it, hoping the others would follow.

Ezra followed behind Max, chewing on his lip anxiously until he sat down. He was glad they were sitting by the window, it gave him something to look at in the very least.

Ava followed right behind. She’d never eaten anywhere that looked like this. As soon as she sat down she picked up the menu.

Elizabeth quickly followed, sitting down uncomfortably. She looked around, nervously tapping her finger on her arm.

As always, Romilly picked the spot closest to Max that she could get. Not that she was opposed to sitting beside the others at their table, she was just most comfortable with Max, and preferred to stick close to him. She could trust him, which was very important to her. "I want a berry milkshake this time," she announced more quietly than she had been earlier.

Ezra hesitantly slid a menu over to him. His stomach growled softly, but he didn’t want to eat. Maybe he’d just settle with a water, that was usually enough. He chewed on his lip, glancing around the table to see what everyone else would get.

Elizabeth glanced at the menu before quickly deciding not to get anything. If she had to act like a depressed personification of anxiety, then fine. But she wasn't going to let anyone else buy her anything.

Lexath was happy no one had noticed that she was late, so she just slipped into the closest open seat. She looked at the menu with a smal smile, it had a caramel ice cream, her favorite!

Max didn’t even have to look at the menu. He knew that he was going to get his usual, a chocolate shake. “Good choice,” he replied to Romilly with a grin before a waitress came up to their table.

She looked to be in her mid-thirties with bleached blonde hair in a messy bun and tired brown eyes. She had a kind look about her as she smiled at them. “Hey kids, whaddya want?”

“I’ll have a chocolate shake,” Max said.

"A black and white milkshake with three sliders, please." After saying his order, he kind of pushed himself deeper into one of the creases of the booth chair, hiding his face. He knew he shouldn't feel embarrassed with the order, it wasn't even a lot, he just felt self-conscious. Now the real issue at hand would be how he would consume it.

Lexath looked up from their menu and hoped that the server knew sign. "May I get a carmel milkshake with whipped cream?"

The waitress furrowed her brow at Lexath, not knowing what they were saying. “I’m sorry sweetie, but I didn’t get that,” she said, looking a bit flustered.

“A caramel milk shake with whipped cream, right?” Max replied, glancing at Lexath for confirmation.

Lexath paused for a moment and nodded, eyes closed a bit. "Thank you Max." They signed to him..

“I’ll get a Oreo milkshake with whipped cream please,” Ava says smiling up at the waitress.

“Can I just get a water?” Ezra asked shyly, wrapping his arms around himself. He tapped his foot anxiously under the table as he chewed on his lower lip.

Ava turned to Ezra “you sure you don’t want a shake? Max said they are really good,” she said.

“I probably shouldn’t, I’m not that hungry anyways,” Ezra mumbled even though his stomach growled softly. He blushed a little, looking down at his lap as he chewed his lower lip.

"You need to eat." Lexath said softly, their words had an underlying power. The way they said it made you feel like you needed to do what they said.

Ezra immediately looked down at his menu, a strange feeling in his chest, and he immediately asked the waitress, “Can I have a chocolate shake?” Ezra furrowed his brow, not sure what came over him in the moment.

"Thank you." They nodded in apprecation, going back to being quiet. Lexath had packed the school's handbook and was reading it unless spoken too.

Ezra looked back down at his lap, a little bit nervous now for some reason. He hadn’t been planning on getting a shake, but he already ordered so it was a little bit too late now… And for some reason he started to feel like he needed to eat tonight anyways, so in the end it didn’t matter.

Ava gave Lexath a suspicious look. Ezra seems pretty stubborn. It would probably have to take a curse similar to hers for him to change his mind. She didn’t like it when people controlled others even if it was good.
